I thought corruption was part of the tri state DNA, how else can you do business there?

tastysnacks ,

Don’t get caught. It’s the arrogance that gets you.

Politicians should NEVER be ABOVE the Law unless they’re Republican in Which Case they should be able to LITERALLY KILL AMERICANS AND US SERVICEMEN with immunity!

SeaJ , in 'Cringe': Tim Scott panned as he declares 'America is not a racist country' at RNC

Many Trump supporters cheered on the speech as inspirational. But it landed with a thud among many other commenters on social media.

Guess which one he was directing the speech to?

    Which is great.

    Can some conservatives find out too? It would be awesome if everyone was held accountable.

    Viking_Hippie ,

    He IS a conservative. But yes, Republicans need to find out as well.

    Bet he’ll feel the same if they lose 2024!

    kitnaht ,

    More importantly, he’ll feel the same when 2028 elections come around, and we’ll get Trump for a third term when they interpret the max terms law much like Putin does in Russia; where he’s president up to the limit, they install a puppet for a single term, and then pop putin back in after.

    pezhore ,
    @pezhore@lemmy.ml avatar

    I’m legit curious (no that’s not quite right, terrinquisive? Horrifious?) how they’ll justify the exemption from term limits. My gut says it’ll be something about two terms max consecutively for 2028, then if that works, just throw out the term limits in 2030 or have martial law spring up.

    Wogi , (edited )

    They’ll put him up as the VP and have the president step down. So Trump wasn’t elected, nor did he run for the office. So the rules don’t apply.

    Edit: turns out Trump would be ineligible to be nominated for VP due to the 12th amendment in this scenario.

    jaybone ,

    Oh shit that’s brilliant. Because they can just keep doing that forever.

    I’d think he’d be worried about trump removing ev subsidies, as he said he would multiple times, but Tesla stock seems so untied to reality that even if sales plunged the stock might increase as more of his braindead supporters would buy it to own the libs.

    joekar1990 ,

    I don’t, in musk’s mind it’s probably buying a favor so Tesla is excluded from subsidies removal. They’d find another way to get Musk more federal funds by saying their only a tech company and working on AI or some shit like that.

    glimse ,

    (only commenting because it changes the meaning of your point)

    I think you typoed “untied” and in your defense, my phone just autocorrected that to “United”

    cygnus , in Russian anger builds as Greece prepares a military deal with Ukraine
    @cygnus@lemmy.ca avatar

    Good on the Greeks. I’m surprised they don’t already have a closer bond with Ukraine, since much of it was Greek for a long time. Some traces are still apparent thousands of years later, like “Kherson” which comes from chersonesos, “peninsula” (which the Greeks used to refer to Crimea)

    theacharnian ,
    @theacharnian@lemmy.ca avatar

    Greek nationalism was made possible by the Russian victory over the Ottomans in the 1770s, which gave breathing space to the Christian subjects of the Ottoman Empire. The conspiracy that led to the Greek Revolution started in the Russian empire. Later, Russia was one of the three Powers (along with Britain and France) to force the Ottomans to grant independence to Greece at the end of the War of Independence. The Greek George Washington (with a tragically different end than GW) was Ioannis Kapodistrias, a former minister of the Czar. For half a century following independence, there were three political parties: the English party, the French party and the Russian party (liberal-monarchist, liberal-republican, conservative). In all party systems following that, a pro-russian faction has always existed. During the 1960-1980s this also coincided with the progressive sections of the political spectrum (the pro-US faction was a far right military dictatorship that killed and tortured people). Throughout this, the religious connection has always been extremely strong, despite the recent scuffles between the Patriarchs.

    In other words, there is a very, very deep connection between Russia in Greece.

    Sounds familiar to something else being said recently.

    Could you elaborate on this, not following && genuinely curious

    someguy3 , (edited )

    “Please stop the anti Trump rhetoric, it’s leading to violence! :(”

    Said by the people that likely cheered the attempt on Whitmer, Pelosi, etc. And likely cheered Rittenhouse and all those shooters that shoot black people trying to start race wars. And likely cheered on person that drove their car through Charlottesville. And likely cheered on Jan 6.

    stevedidwhat_infosec ,

    Nobody needs to tolerate intolerance. Never have, never should have.

    Enough is enough
