To be fair most people still cook with teflon, albeit PFOA-free, so we’re still actively consuming teflon. And the worst part? You need to use plastic cooking-utensils with teflon pans. And as plastic utensils wear down they shed lots of microplastics straight into your food.
I’m usually very sceptical about things that “might supposedly” be bad for you, but even I refuse to buy any teflon pan and/or plastic cooking utensils. I now use cast iron with steel utensils :D

Those were asbestos cloth and they slowly disintegrated during use (between the stove and the pans) putting asbestos fibres into the air
I find it hard to believe that all of the guards meant to be watching over a high-profile prisoner on suicide watch just happened to disappear at the same time the multiple cameras also meant to be watching over him failed, and those both happened to coincide with the period he's said to have killed himself.
Either it's unimaginably high levels of incompetence and neglect, or somebody paid off a bunch of people. Considering it was rich pedos who wanted him dead, I don't find the latter unreasonable to believe
On the other hand, given that he had already been convicted of sexual abuse crimes and was contemplating spending the rest of his life in prison, there’s plenty of motivation to kill himself. It’s convenient for his pedo friends but there’s no incontrovertible evidence that anyone else was involved.
Wasn’t the prison like an overcrowded hellhole with way too little guards who didn’t do their job and shitload of broken cameras anyway?

There is absolutely motivation for him to have done it, and I don't necessarily disbelieve he was involved in his own death.
I firmly believe that somebody at the very least greased the required palms to make sure nobody would be around, otherwise the fact that there is no footage and no witnesses to to the death of someone so high-profile and supposedly well guarded becomes almost unbelievable.
Yeah I think epstien killed himself, but I think its plausible someone enabled him to do that. But prisons are also grossly negligent and incompetent most of the time.
Never explain with malice what can equally well be explained by incompetence. I readily believe that the conditions in prison are awful, tech ain’t working and people are not doing their jobs. In any other case everybody would believe that too. I also believe that someone who’s sure he’ll die or spend a very long time in prison will prefer suicide. If I’ve learned one thing from rich, influential people it’s that they’re not exactly competent and couldn’t’ve pulled of a murder like this without people bragging about it left and right and leaving a massive paper trail. Sadly, the suicide is just the easier, more plausible explanation.
I am aware of Hanlon's razor, and usually do give benefit of doubt for exactly that reason. People are often just as, if not more stupid than they are malicious.
Having said that, it is just inconceivable to me that such grave incompetence would come about when the person in question is quite literally the golden ticket to apprehending the pedo-ring to end all pedo-rings.
I don't even necessarily disbelieve that he killed himself, the motives are there - but I do firmly believe that at the very least somebody greased palms to make sure there were no witnesses to prevent him taking his life when the opportunity arose. I don’t believe any of that. To the people who actually handled him he was just another inmate and that’s where the incompetence and apathy come in. There’s been a lot of inmate deaths in the news recently, which strengthens my belief. For many people Epstein was important, but I don’t think the grunts in prison gave a crap who he was.

Interesting, the blue car is clearly a ‘09 Ford Focus RS but it appears to be in Nitrous Blue, a color only available on the ‘16-‘18 Focus RS. Seems very specific.
Not a blunder, just something very specific. I’ve seen mk3 RSs repainted to the mk2 green. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if someone did a mk2 in mk3 blue. It’s an enthusiast only detail that wouldn’t normally happen by accident so I’m wondering what the reference for the drawing was from.
I guess I’m just so used to seeing STs and RSs over base models I go looking for them everywhere. The color, which could just have been an artificial shift during the drawing or sharing process, changed the hue to really match the RS color making me go instantly to the sportier line.

I didn’t realize you were referencing something from like 50-60 years ago. All in all, you make valid points… I have lived long enough to personally validate them. It was just the “thirteen to five hundred dollars” range that made me chuckle!
I mean you’re right, but I believe the converse is what she was getting at. Invite respectable guests and they will know the unwritten rule: bring a gift worth at least as much as your meal, drinks and party favors. It’s not necessarily bad to expect that much.
I personally think that yes it’s bad to expect that much. You’re the one who decided to organize a party for a day that’s all about you and your SO, it’s not my problem how much you decided to spend on it. Even for my best friend’s wedding I told him “You charge me something or expect me to give a gift worth X, I’m not going, it’s your decision to do something special that day, you assume it, the day I invite you to a party I won’t charge you or expect a gift.”
I hate big weddings as much as anyone but the idea of bringing a gift isn’t to “charge” you. It’s that you want to help set up the newlyweds in their life together. The party is all about them but most of what they’re spending is on things to make sure their guests have a great time. I’m sure it happens but I’ve never been to a wedding where anyone demanded a gift as the cost of entry.
My wife and I were planning our wedding a year from then when I got a job offer to the US and we had to get married in a hurry to avoid some issues with the visas.
Best decision ever, we had a small party at my SIL patio, my parents got us tacos catering, a friend of my wife who has won some iPod battles was or “DJ” and we got some cheap wines at costco and told people to BYOB
We only had to rent some chairs and tables but it wasn’t very expensive
We were planning to celebrate our 1st anniversary doing a “wedding” party but we decided to use the money to travel 3 weeks to Japan instead

There are several Mastodon instances like witter.cz which are reasonably alive but I prefer Reddit-style social media. I might need to compromise on this, though. Hive and Dread have been suggested but I can’t imagine the crypro-heavy or dark web platforms attracting a meaningful crowd.
