Are they that rare? And do they really know to keep things like this under wraps? It seems like our social filters have all gone out the window the last eight years.
She can’t spell fiancé correctly despite several attempts and having autocorrect. I think it’s entirely possible that she’s just dumb, selfish and insecure.
It should be noted, once the soviets got the technical skills they needed from the nazi scientists, they were deported back to Germany. Some were fined/deported for being irresponsible with rocket fuel.
Unlike Operation Paperclip where they were given citizenship and put in charge of scientific programs and prisons in America.
Or Operation Bloodstone, where the CIA put nazi war criminals in charge of South American special police forces to do more warcrimes under the guise of anti-communism.
Regarding paperclip, the US grabbed leaders, program architects and STEM bureaucrats. These types of people can’t really have their knowledge or skill extracted, then be discarded.
I’m not excusing any behavior here, but folks like von Braun bargained for what they got and the US gov cared more about rockets than principles.
I expect von Braun and friends would have had similar treatment in the Soviet union, had the soviets been lucky enough to catch them first
Unlike Operation Paperclip where they were given citizenship and put in charge of scientific programs and prisons in America.
That’s kinda debatable. They were deported back to East Germany, which was still under Soviet control, and were placed in charge of scientific programs and universities.
Or Operation Bloodstone, where the CIA put nazi war criminals in charge of South American special police forces
Who do you think ran the nkvd in East Germany? Unfortunately both great powers were a little too friendly towards the former Nazi for my taste. Though the Americans were the main proponents of the clean wehrmacht theory we are still entrenched in today.
I literally moved instances and blocked their shit so fast that your head is still spinning. All on my own. Idk what you’re on about, hunty, maybe some personal experience of yours.
You are the ones downvoting this like it matters and getting your panties in a bunch about a group of annoying losers on hexbear. I don’t need an admin to protect me from them I have a block list.
Are we now? lol I’m pretty calm and posting memes but you seem on edge.
I have a block list
Yeah, me too, and it’s about a foot long. But it’s almost as if people have other concerns when they call for defederation and they’re not just running to mommy. Idk, maybe something to consider.
That comment history of yours is kinda betraying that statement, just saying.
(Sorry for looking, I had to find the context for the post. Also sorry that I had to block your Weedtime community. I don’t think I trust you as a mod after this but I know you don’t care.)
Trust me as a mod? For a meme community? Seriously who the fuck cares. This is not important to anyone. I am just trying to wind down the clock at work. I don’t care if you block weedtime or not dude. Everyone on lemmy needs to get a fucking grip this literally doesn’t matter its a reddit clone.
And that’s where we fundamentally disagree. Discussing federation is not a waste of time when the offshoot website is community-driven. Nobody’s running to mommy, we just want the best for the instances we’ve adopted.
I also have some downtime but I should get going. Cya.
biggest cringe you can find online is people bragging about how many people they blocked.
ah nice to know you are a snowflake, why are you self owning about this?
I rotate delivery apps so they constantly send me coupons. The coupon doesn’t actually save any money over the restaurant cost but basically cancels out the delivery fee.
But the companies running these softwares now make a huge profit, while the restaurants and delivery drivers earn less. So it’s better this way for their billionaire investors
I still don’t understand how paying a third party the delivery fee plus their management costs and profit margin is cheaper than hiring a teenager. It sucks though :/
Like you said, worse every person involved except for the door dash executives
Because a lot of places probably don’t do enough delivery volume to justify staffing a driver every night, and the apps themselves are pretty powerful marketing tools.
Yeah, I can fall asleep pretty much anywhere wearing anything. That being said, unless there’s a good reason not to, I fail to understand why anyone wouldn’t sleep nude. No clothing is more comfortable than nude, and don’t say warmth because that’s what blankets are for.
During sleep I can’t ensure to be stay covered with a blanket. Though lower half nude would work better than upper half nude. If my arms get cold, I‘ll get ill. With a sleeping bag it might work.
Respectfully, please do not do this. Helium is a non-renewable resource. Once lost to the atmosphere it’s gone for good. Nitrogen on the other hand makes up 78% of the atmosphere and is equally effective.
I will attempt an oddly serious answer, unlike my previous comment, since I feel this deserves one.
Sort of, and technically correct. Both the suicidal and the oil baron have no reason to care what happens after they’re dead. But I don’t know if that’s relevant here.
Powerful people ruining the world do so because of incentives and… because they can. The only thing that will stop them and those that come after is meaningful societal change. Convincing people to participate in bringing about this change is important too, make no mistake, but it’s because of what they can achieve united. It’s voting, protesting, and building a world where the powerful can’t screw over the world and everyone in it.
Hoping a change in culture alone will save the world is useless, because the rich and powerful will not follow that new culture. There’s no trickle-up morals, and telling suicidal people they should be mindful of how they die (if serious) is barking up the wrong tree. It won’t stop the oil baron from continuing to pollute more than everyone in this thread combined, nor will it make a meaningful difference even should the person follow your advice, because it’s a drop in the bucket—and maybe the last one they’ll ever make.
Trying to put it shortly, my point is that mentality is only the start. The world is broken (e.g. climate change is a thing), not just because of mentality, but because those high above do all in their power to stay there and shape the world in ways that suit them. Changing people’s mentality is good, but is “use hydrogen instead of helium” really the last thing a suicidal person should have to hear from you?
Of course, this is a meme community in the end, so apologies if this comment was unnecessary because no one is seriously saying that. But anyone who thinks so should also be able to read my previous comment in its intended humor as well.
What’s funny about this is their determination to violate the artists’ intent for the sake of forced obfuscation, which results in the ostensible heightening of obscure knowledge for the benefit of those already possessing it.
I see nothing of value being created here. So, we’re at a level slightly above Reddit right now. We did it, Lemmy!
It’s cool if you return it at the end of the year that you don’t have to pay taxes on it. You could steal something, use it to make more money, and then return it. This avoids paying any kinda sales taxes when you took it. And since inventory is taxed you wouldn’t have to pay on that.
Someone could exploit this. Make a fake company that steals from the real company, returns the property at the end of the year.
My first job was at a place called Cybo Robots in Indianapolis. The R&D department there created something that iRobot turned into the Roomba, when they bought the company. The entire point of the company was to lose money as a tax write off. The owner owned several other profitable companies, and needed a money sink so that he could get out of paying taxes, so he created Cybo Robots.
My point here is that not only could someone exploit this, they already are in multiple ways.
Technically, if you intend to return it eventually, it’s not theft.
Theft, under the common law of England, as brought to the U.S., is the deprivation of personal property of another with the intention to permanently deprive them of it. If you don’t have that intent, it’s not theft. That’s why we have “joyriding” and “grand theft auto” as separate things.
Neither did I. I may still not understand it. But I googled salon article and found a site with that name that publishes progressive news and opinions. So I guess they are saying a lot of couples are opposite in opinion on these things. They might be joking about the one spouse being oblivious to their partners racism or having double standards or something.
You’re absolutely right. The comic above is absolutely prejudiced, it’s just targeting a group that’s seen as more privileged, and thus “punching up” and so it’s ok. BS is what it is.
Sure sure. So if I made a post essentially saying 1 in 3 black men are violent, it’s only racist if you believe black men are violent. Says more about you than anyone else.
Sometimes the gal can be racist. My friends tried to hook me up with a cute lady who had an amazing accent. Turns out, she was south-african and very quickly let me know that ending apartheid was a mistake because “some people just can’t prepare for modern life”.
