Recent hands-on experiments determined human feces cannot be made into frozen knives to dismember dogs” is the absolute most that a single sentence can be. The peak has been crested, literature can only stagnate from here.

*For sale: baby poop knives, can’t dismember dogs’ shoes.

Peppycito ,

This comes from a story Wade Davis told about an old Inuit hunter guy who killed a dog with a poop knife, skinned it, made a sled from its carcass and a harness from its hide and used another dog to ride into the sunset as a fuck you to his family who were trying to force him to retire.

The story has been thought to be bullshit by a lot of people. Wade Davis is a great writer though.

Wade got it from Peter Freuchen

Edit: Holy shit Wade Davis, from Wikipedia

In 1983, Davis first advanced his hypothesis that tetrodotoxin (TTX) poisoning could explain the existence of Haitian zombies.[10] This idea has been controversial and his 1985 follow-up book (The Serpent and the Rainbow) elaborating upon this claim has been criticized as containing scientific inaccuracies.[11] One is the suggestion Haitian witchdoctors can keep “zombies” in a state of pharmacologically induced trance for many years.[12] As part of his Haitian investigations, Davis commissioned the exhumation of a recently buried child.[13][14] (Dead human tissue is supposed to be a part of the “zombie powder” used by witchdoctors to produce zombies.) This has been criticized as a breach of ethics.[12][15]

Ya. When you’re reading psychedelic philosopher guys it’s best to keep in mind that they might be completely full of shit and total whack-jobs. Much like a good acid trip, believe half of what you hear and none of what you see.

If you could go back in time to relive one of those relationships, which would it be with?

Way easier to lie about it. Just pick babies out to be indentured servants for life to repay some imagined debts. Maybe make them feel it was their fault for not paying off the debt previously. We could even target kids from poor families for this, so they have less hope of fighting back.

We did this already, a bunch of times.

It looks nothing like a penis. I don’t understand why people in this thread are saying that.

I think the OP in the post is laughing because of how ridiculous it is for LEGO to just include a hand as a character.

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot ,

In the original series we often saw Thing’s arm when it turned the pages on Lurch’s music. It wasn’t depicted as being cut off at the wrist until the movie.

SorryQuick ,

God I loved that show, kinda sad it got cancelled so early.

Maybe their original intention was for thing to just be a hand, but they just didn’t have the technology/budget for it.

captain_aggravated ,

Also in the original series which hand Thing was varied from scene to scene; sometimes he’s a left hand, sometimes he’s a right hand.

Some cities require minimum wage paid toward service employees. This is about $20/hour before tips. They don’t lower their tip expectations because, as you might expect, greed is a thing. You will get treated worse if you don’t tip

einfach_orangensaft ,

At least u can put custom firmware on android phones, try to get rid of Apple spyware is much harder.

smileyhead , (edited )

You cannot put custom firmware. If spyware is hidden in drivers, bootloader or even firmware of the modem there is nothing we can do about it. Custom ROMs are just replacing things above the kernel and below apps.

Still of course things average non CIA person should not worry about. Google apps with high privileges are removed with custom ROMs.

einfach_orangensaft ,

well at this point just get a pinphone64 with linux a d hardware switches

Holzkohlen ,

Might as well. I will never be satisfied with custom ROMs. I need straight up linux on my phone and none of that android crap.

Ziglin ,

I thought android had its own bootloader and I assume drivers (At least Linux has its own drivers). To my understanding if android phones have a bios that’s the only thing that could be compromised but it should just provide the interrupts right? Now that I think about it if Google put a huge bios in there it might be able to access and share things it’s not supposed to. (But I feel like people would have noticed.)

delivery drivers lie all the time. when I was still in a row house, I watched the amazon guy from my window take the same package from door to door, put it down, take a picture, then pick it right back up and take it to the next stop where he did the same thing.

Crozekiel ,

The ups guy that delivers to my work has been marking every package as signed for by a person who quit 5 years ago… Sometimes on stuff he didn’t even leave at our building…

NightAuthor ,

This kind of shortcut taking is why Uber now has the customer give the driver a code at handoff so the driver can’t just mark it delivered. (This is only when you opt for “deliver directly to me”)

Dyskolos ,

Same in germany. That makes the whole thing even more useless, as everyone just is a subscription-based shit now…

XTornado ,

Yeah I see it seems it applies other places.

I would be ok with it honestly if they like allowed to select sites but they did this “content pass”, www.contentpass.net/en , which englobe a lot of sites and lot of them I don’t want them to see a single penny from me because they are shit. If they fix that and I can pick and change it along the way am all in on it.

The ones I’ve seen disable the ‘consent’ bits by default, but then there’s ‘vendor preferences’ where ‘legitimate interest’ is automatically ON in 58 places (I’m not exaggerating; I have counted it) and you have to manually off all of them.

When you click the question mark at ‘legitimate interest’, all it says is some vendors are not asking for your consent to use your data but collect it based on their legitimate interest.

It’s infinitely vague and it has the vibe of ‘I’m not going to ask for it, I will just take it and I will use it for whatever I want anyway’.
