Allows you to browse Reddit and subscribe to communities anonymously, with a really nice UI.

It’s one of very few apps that I’ve used and been like “I have no notes”. I can’t really think of any way to improve it. It’s perfect at what it does.

No idea. Some sort of scraping, I assume.

Why does Trump have so many d list celebs promoting him? They are all so old and irrelevant and just trying to grasp at the spot light once more. They don’t care about him. They just desperately want to be recognized once more

StaySquared ,

Could be a generational move. I grew up on Hulk Hogan (from preteen to early teenage years). So those of my generation would be pulled in by these “old and irrelevant” people.

Voroxpete , (edited )

I mean, Hulk isn’t exactly a d-lister. The guy still gets huge pops at wrestling shows. It’s more that he’s absolutely trashed his rep with younger people by constantly being a disgusting piece of shit.

BallsandBayonets ,

At wrestling shows being the key. You can’t get better than a D-lister if you only perform in D-list entertainment.

Voroxpete ,

I think you might be seriously underestimating how big a deal wrestling still is in America. We’re not in the glory days of the eighties anymore but it’s still capable of catapulting people like John Cena to mega stardom. Cody Rhodes has barely been back in WWE for a year, and he’s already been added to Call of Duty: Warzone. AEW is the baby brother to WWE and they’re now regularly selling out Wembley Stadium. None of that is small time.

BallsandBayonets ,

It still doesn’t compare to pro Booflesmerchz. Bobby Glorgensmit has won the last 4 Dongleboofs by less than 87 zorgensmarcs and Timothy Blinkenspank sold his likeness to be used on the cover of the next Yell of Constipation: Fiberbane for almost 1.5 million pretzels. And Amazon Field, which has a record-breaking 3.6 seats, gets sold out almost twice a decade!

InevitableWaffles ,
@InevitableWaffles@midwest.social avatar

You also have to consider the audience Trump is trying to please. Who is going to pull more people? Steve Mnuchin talking about Trump glowingly or a clown wrestler that Trump’s fans remember as a childhood hero backing their pick?

Let’s also remember that Trump literally wrestled in WWE.

Just the last guy? Not the “Arkansas Sphinx” guy or the “what if a mercury-filled pyramid was in the Bermuda Triangle” guy?

    lemonmelon ,

Tbf the Arkansas Sphinx is real, but it’s a natural rock formation that sort of resembles the Sphinx if you view it from the right angle and squint a bit. So I guess they get partial credit for that one.

Blue_Morpho , to insanepeoplefacebook in The Second Sphinx

Considering that the pyramids used to be encased in white limestone that was all taken by everyone over the years for building homes, this one of the least crazy ideas I’ve seen.

    FlyingSquid OP ,
    @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Then you have not seen a lot of crazy ideas. The pyramids are mostly still there, they haven’t vanished. They are also made of easily-removable stones. The sphinx is one large carved solid rock. The claim is there was a second solid rock sphinx that was razed flat.

It’s the difference between claiming the actual fact that a previous London Bridge was disassembled and then reassembled in Arizona is a corresponding fact to the completely false idea that there was a second Mount Rushmore that they had to flatten to the ground so people could get a view of the first Mount Rushmore.

One is plausible (and true in that case). The other is ludicrous. It’s absolutely crazy.

northclock , to selfhosted in TriliumNext Notes first stable release is now available! 🚀

Sounds exciting, any killer feature on this fork that might make it worth for me to migrate?

    homegrowntechie OP ,

Currently there are no significant new features (although we do now offer a windows exe installer). The initial stable release was mostly back-end changes intended to make future development easier and more maintainable. Keep you’re eye out though, since there are some new features in the works (2FA, Internationalization, and maybe some mobile improvements).

    vahtos ,

    Mobile improvements would be huge!

I’ve been using this for a couple weeks now and completely replaced OneNote with it (been wanting to ditch OneNote for awhile). It’s been very smooth, nice work!

    homegrowntechie OP ,

Glad to hear! Would you mind sharing how you migrated from OneNote? We would like to make that migration path easier for future migrants.

    vahtos ,

Sorry, this isn’t helpful. I migrated the hard way, hah. I just went to each page in OneNote and hit ctrl+a, copied that and pasted without formatting into TriliumNext, then fixed the formatting.

It took some time, but was worth it to me. I figured it would be a good test to help me familiarize myself with TriliumNext a little.

An easier path to help adoption would probably go a long way, but it also might eat up a lot of development time and routinely need work. I’m not sure how often the OneNote export formats change.

    homegrowntechie OP ,

    Ok, thanks for your feedback!

    northclock ,

+1 for mobile development. Editing tables on my phone just does not work nicely 😅 I hope this project picks up and the momentum of development stays strong

    Quill7513 ,

Iirc Macho Man Randy Savage was also instrumental to unionization efforts and the company turned him heel for it. The result? Everyone loved Macho Man Randy Savage as a heel more than they ever loved him as a face. There’s something extremely relatable to all of us about a guy who tries to speak up about injustice but doesn’t get the traction and has to go back to making the magic our companies don’t deserve

    KingThrillgore ,

Macho Man was just plain likable all the time. He always cut the greatest promos, had an ego larger than life, and he’s one of the best things about the Raimi Spider-Man movies. Anytime I think of the wrestling greats, I think of Randy Savage.

    WhatYouNeed ,

    Ooooh yeah!

    lightnsfw ,

When we were kids my brother and I met him once at a mini golf course in Florida. He was very nice even though we were assholes interrupting his family time.

    gabereal ,

Randy Savage started his WWF career as a heel. Initially, he didn’t have a manager, so a bunch of heel managers would attend his squash matches and marvel at how amazing he was ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBIXztSSNr0 ). Then after a few matches and promos, he finally announced that he had chosen a manager: Miss Elizabeth ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_G1iMUbbBs ) (In reality, I’m pretty sure he and Elizabeth were a package deal; she would be slated to be his manager/valet before he came to the WWF)

He definitely seemed like a good, genuine dude and someone that was good at most every aspect of pro wrestling (maybe not as technical as Brett Hart, but who is?) regardless, though.

    cardboardchris ,

I heard that story as part of the Behind the Bastards series on Vince McMahon. It was an excellent and very entertaining four- or five-episode series.

    vividspecter ,

It was six episodes. That’s how much was needed to cover how much of a piece of shit Vince is.

    d00phy ,

That one and G Gordon Liddy. I especially liked in one of the later Liddy episodes where he said he doesn’t like doing more than 3 or 4 because it gets monotonous, but that Liddy’s life was so bonkers that he just couldn’t decide what to cut!
