Neat. I’ve used freetube before as well. But I keep wondering that if I’m paying for ad free and creators get more money from my views, how do the ad-free and privacy apps benefit the people that I watch regularly?
Though, I could pay every person I watch via patron, but I watch a lot of creators and not all at the same time. It would be too expensive to support them all through patreon vs YouTube unfortunately
Well for me personally will never sacrifice my personal freedom and privacy to “support the creator.” Not to say that you shouldn’t donate to them but keep in mind that YouTube is terrible for privacy and it encourages dark patterns.
Creators should have other affordable ways to support them that doesn’t involve the dirty JavaScript of YouTube. Additionally you should only support a handful of creators so you don’t encourage the “algorithm”
There are plenty of way to have an ad free experience and you can probably support creators 1000x more if you give your money’s subscription to them through patron or similar.
Sure it does, but we should ask why she became the meme and not any of the other billionaires, who are overwhelmingly white men.
It’s like when I pointed out to my kid that the Karen meme is pretty sexist, they pointed out that there’s also Ken. And I asked them, in all the meme compilations they watch, how many Kens are there for every ten Karens? They said, “maybe 2 or 3.” I pointed out that that imbalance is the problem, and they were like, “oooohh yeah.”
A 10 year old gets this when it’s explained to them simply. Anyone who pretends they don’t get this is covering for something they don’t want to admit.
I didn’t make that meme myself but I debated changing it to something Taylor Swift related for a moment, but then I thought that horse was pretty much dead already so I just left it as it is. She’s certainly not the only one doing this sort of stuff.
I kind of like it too. When I was 12 my parents asked what colour I wanted my bedroom painted. “Purple.” They painted it off-white. I’m over 70 now and still have never had a purple room. My kitchen is pale grey ffs.
Bro you’re 70, paint that shit whatever you want and when you die in that house it’s the next owners problem not yours. It’s not an investment at your stage like it is people in their 30s painting everything white or grey so they don’t offend future buyers.
I helped a lady your age pick out a color for a room in her house, and she ended up going for a very bright peach. She loved it so much she put it in every room in her house where she didn't have a color picked out.
If you aren't planning to sell in a year or two, I say pick something that makes you happy when you see it. Realtors might have a different favorite color in 5 years.
That would be true if they were still using those depictions at the time they dropped them. But they weren’t, as you can very much see in the meme that used the most current logos before they were dropped.
Do you work hard at being a dumbass or does it just come naturally?
Are you upset that they didn’t remove the white folk or are you upset that depictions of people that other people decided were problematic were removed?
It’s upsetting that depictions of normal POC without any racist stereotyping or characteristics were found to be “problematic.” Tell me, in what way, are the depictions shown in the meme’s example racist?
PS: Apart from this argument not going anywhere, it’s not even entirely true. Aunt Jemima (now Pearl Milling Company) is directly owned by Quaker Oats (which in turn is owned by PepsiCo). Meanwhile, Uncle Ben’s / Ben’s Original is owned by Mars, Inc., so you’re defending some of the biggest (and worst) food conglomerates on the planet.
yeah and I could have just looked up all the info and not used this but the only reason I gave it some thought was someone thought it was interesting enough to post and presumably receive feedback.
