“It is a bummer that you feel financially stressed, particularly these last 4 years. But things could be worse! Somehow. Vote Biden in again & you’ll see.”

CoffeeJunkie ,

To leave the US isn’t as easy in itself…to leave, and sever all financial ties, even moreso. I think you must renounce your US citizenship to stop paying income taxes. $2400 + any exit fees, for those with a little more built-up wealth.

Where to go, where to land, is another big question. Nerds with their remote working jobs can go anywhere, work from anywhere, and get their money. I am a blue collar laborer. Pros & cons to that, but it does physically limit where one can go & make a halfway successful, nice living.

I do believe the US is in decline. This could be a Rome type situation, where it is in decline for centuries. When you’re at the top, there’s a long way to fall. It might be best to position yourself accordingly, and not make any rash decisions.

CoffeeJunkie ,

Funny, but also not. Just Googled because I couldn’t remember:

“According to the Institute of Medicine, physician’s illegible notes lead to approximately 7,000 deaths annually.”

Seems unreal. Even if it was half that…that’s a lot of people. If I was getting prescribed drugs, I want it LEGIBLE. Typed up would be great. I just don’t trust that shit, and neither should any of you.

Is everything the worst?

I’m 43, almost 44, years old and went through a bought of alcoholism during the early part of the pandemic. I went through treatment and have been fine since. However, I can’t help but feel that all the news in the last few months is just the worst. Between the AI bullshit, the wars, the effects of capitalism, and the...

Came to say, touch grass. Get a job, get busy. Clean your home (I sure need to!), tidy up your corner of the world & exert positive control over things you can control. If you can’t control it, please, don’t worry about it.

Hooray! 🙌🏻

Japan’s births just fell to a new record low. Tokyo hopes a dating app can turn that around (www.cnn.com)

Japan’s fertility rate, which has seen a precipitous fall for many years, has reached another record low as the government ramps up efforts to encourage young people to get married and start families — even launching its own dating app....

Man idk, maybe he’s never really had a good grilled cheese. ¯(°_o)/¯

CoffeeJunkie ,

I call bullshit on the claim it’s “because of how bullying cases were handled”. Looks pretty straightforward, racist AF to me.

And even if that were true, or more likely he was a racist dickhead, either way: if he had such a big problem, if he wanted to protest…you don’t have to publicly cross the stage at graduation. Not that he’s smart enough to reason this out. But crossing the stage is a privilege, it is public recognition, it is a community event. The graduate need not be compelled to participate; she could have received her diploma in the mail (like most do, anyway) & stayed home.

Although judging by the girl’s reaction, her father was acting off-the-cuff, alone, and without her knowledge. I’m hoping that’s the case. Racism is fucking stupid.

CoffeeJunkie ,

“That’s the correct spot in the video.

I don’t want him touching the video progress bar!!”

CoffeeJunkie ,

Definitely not Kim Jong Un. He works so hard, he burns the energy from inside. He doesn’t have a butthole, he has no need for one.

CoffeeJunkie ,

I came here to recommend sugar granules; it’s a gentle adhesive. I used it before, successfully, on a flash drive.

This print looks a little different, though. As somebody else said, a tight cohesion? Idk. I just know starting with sugar granules will definitely not damage your case.

CoffeeJunkie ,

Biden, meanwhile, for better or worse is exactly the same now as he was four years ago.

🤡 He wasn’t good in 2020, and he’s even worse now. This is only the hottest, most recent takes based off recent events, but we know there’s a long record of humiliation & weakness on the world stage. Mexico border: fucked. USA fentanyl crisis: fucked. Afghanistan: fucked. Israel-Palestine: fucked. Russia-Ukraine: fucked. China: getting on their bullshit. The global hegemon is weak; the world suffers as a consequence.

Until the last couple months of panic mode, I have seen an entirely unfounded, unflappable confidence being displayed by Democrats, media. There is not a single damn thing about Biden that instills confidence. Trump isn’t silenced, Trump isn’t jailed, everything tried has failed. Which leads me to believe…we’re going to see at least an attempted Trump assassination.

Biden should be shuffled off into the nearest nursing home & replaced with a competent Democrat. It looks like that’s not going to happen. Idk, this next half-year is going to be mighty interesting, to say the least. 🍿😃🍿

CoffeeJunkie ,

He’s 21 years old & also he’s gotten a lot of fame. We can’t expect lots of great wisdom from him.

CoffeeJunkie ,

You can’t paint the Mona Lisa with crayons.

Kind of related to yours, “You’re putting lipstick on a pig”

CoffeeJunkie ,

…so…every other Lemmy post, then? 😂

I mean I always check to see if there’s “one in the chamber”. And yeah even if you had a full magazine, until it’s racked, the gun is a paperweight.

Remove magazine, check twice, dry fire not pointed at ANYTHING of value, the dirt or something (doesn’t hurt that type of gun to dry fire)…can’t be reckless with something that is designed to kill.

Chinese police were allowed into Australia to speak with a woman. They breached protocol and escorted her back to China (www.abc.net.au)

Chinese police hunting international corruption targets were allowed into Australia by the federal police and subsequently escorted a woman back to China for trial, in a major breach of Chinese-Australian police protocols....

Chinese Communist Party’s…anti-corruption drive. Next up, we’ve got prostitutes fucking for virginity. 🤪

‘They’ve destroyed us because of some tweets’: why has Saudi Arabia targeted these three sisters? (www.theguardian.com)

Last week one was sentenced to 11 years, another had to flee the country, a third could be arrested at any moment. And what were Manahel, Maryam and Fawzia al-Otaibi’s ‘crimes’? A few social media posts that outraged Saudi Arabia’s conservatives...

Dancing in jeans & a baseball cap. Manahel’s terrorism offence, uploading pictures of herself with her head uncovered.

Sounds like Saudi Arabia is a shithole country.

After announcing increased prices, Spotify to Pay Songwriters About $150 Million Less Next Year (www.billboard.com)

When Bloomberg reported that Spotify would be upping the cost of its premium subscription from $9.99 to $10.99, and including 15 hours of audiobooks per month in the U.S., the change sounded like a win for songwriters and publishers. Higher subscription prices typically equate to a bump in U.S. mechanical royalties — but not...

CoffeeJunkie ,

Not just killed. Murdered. Imagine getting murdered…for truck tires. What a group of savages.

CoffeeJunkie ,

All fair points, I guess. Dictionary for gore, blood that is shed, murder/bloodshed/violence etc. So I suppose it does technically meet the threshold for gore, even though it is just audio. Subject involves gore.

CoffeeJunkie ,

Yes

CoffeeJunkie ,

Oh I was making a joke, like you posted an ‘or’ comment & I replied Yes like it will do both. 😂 Good bike, blows your balls off.

I’ve been looking at Super73 for years as a CLASSIC styling, really handsome ebike. YouTube search for things like Survival ebike, ebike for preppers. Because you’ll tap into a whole community of people that want good & tough ebikes, not flimsy crap, ebikes that should be good relatively long-term. I trust Canadian Prepper; this video is a little older but information & considerations tend to be relevant years later.

I saw another prepper cheaping it with $700-800 ebikes, if I find it I’ll post name & link…

Anyway jokes aside I hope that helps. Idk your situation but I’d almost be tempted to wait just a few more years; pandemic/oil prices have pushed so many ebikes into the wild & that has brought about soooooo much real-world testing & consumer feedback. I’m thinking the ebikes just a few years from now will be so much better, and possibly for cheaper or the same price.

CoffeeJunkie ,

This is a valid criticism that we talk about…working through supply, using supply, and becoming familiar with it is actually the ideal we should all strive for. 🙂 Idk about any bike, electric or not, that can withstand hard use several times/day for decades. (o_O) But product design is getting better all the time!

CoffeeJunkie ,

This is actually super great timing. I’m guessing by safer, they mean, won’t blow your nuts off. 🤭 Might be a good community for us, too.

“Come & beat, rape our women! We do! It’s totally okay, they’re not people!”

CoffeeJunkie ,

It didn’t have to be an evil fuck. Could have just been an ignorant fuck. “Do not attribute to malice what can easily be explained by ignorance”.

Disregarding what we know now: it would be great to have an exfoliating bead that didn’t break down or decay. I used it, sometimes, and it worked well for its intended purpose. We just didn’t think anything about it, and they probably didn’t, either.

CoffeeJunkie ,

Dare I say it…What Would Jesus Do?? 😂

Why is there a surge of deodorant products mostly advertised to women in the US?

So I have balls and yeah they’re the first thing on my body to start to smell. I can skip a shower if I’m in a hurry and I don’t smell much. That’s with working a job that’s usually physical. I was a punk kid fucking punk girls when I was younger and we didn’t bathe every day. I didn’t notice much smell then....

CoffeeJunkie ,

That’s interesting. I avoid ads…so I’m not seeing what you’re seeing. I think my balls get a bit of a smell after a day, but like a nice, mild balls smell. My pits, man, my fucking pits…they go rancid in about a day’s time, definitely in 2-3. Simply stating as a matter of fact, gotta deal with my pits before my balls.

CoffeeJunkie ,

Well it all goes bad anyway, it’s just good to clean up. I do not use antiperspirants, I don’t like the idea of shoving stuff into my pores to block bodily functions. Those are kind of addictive, like if you’re on them & don’t use them, sometimes I feel like the problem is even worse. Like your body is purging because you stopped it up with aluminum.

I used antiperspirants until late HS, early college; it stained, discolored my shirts. I stopped using antiperspirant, and the staining stopped, too.

CoffeeJunkie ,

Maybe it was another dolphin. They don’t report dolphin-on-dolphin violence.

CoffeeJunkie ,

I distinctly remember when that went down. It was certainly jarring at the time, but after that nobody really fucked militarily with the US for the duration of Trump’s presidency. That I can recall. Russia didn’t move an inch, China wasn’t moving on Taiwan, the Middle East was relatively calm. Etc. One asshole had to die to get everyone else in line, that’s a great trade.

Now we’ve got massive conflicts on all those fronts because they perceive the US, POTUS as weak. Inept. And when the US falls from being the global hegemon, who will take its place? China? Russia? None of the alternatives look particularly good.

I will say, this proxy war with Russia just destroying all their resources for cheap has overall been a success. But it makes me sad that men’s lives are essentially being tossed into a meat grinder to make that happen. Lots of men dying on both sides of that conflict, lots of blood & treasure just thrown away. 😔 I hope that war in particular ends soon.

CoffeeJunkie ,

Don’t trust reports, or anything really, coming out of China at face value. Product in hand, undoctored video proof, lab tests done by a trusted group.

Wanted American man flees to Russia, signs military contract (www.themoscowtimes.com)

A former American city council member who is wanted in the United States on child pornography charges appears to have fled to Russia and joined the Russian military, according to footage shared by regional authorities in the northern Khanty-Mansi autonomous district....

CoffeeJunkie ,

Cool, so he’s probably going to die soon. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

CoffeeJunkie ,

…but can we trust Motorola anymore? They haven’t put out a good smartphone since the original Razr line & the first Androids. Haven’t been relevant in the phone world since.

CoffeeJunkie ,

Curved screens are gross!

CoffeeJunkie ,

Ah that’s fair enough, I guess. I see no expandable storage, I do not buy, I write them off.

CoffeeJunkie ,

And we love them, too!

Also I can talk again. 😇

CoffeeJunkie ,

Reading the article, it actually does look pretty bad. Filter media containing asbestos, used to be make chlorine. Brake pads, that are made to wear away into dust, asbestos dust??

I agree with twinkle, technically it’s all about the proper application, but my god. Probably shouldn’t put it in brake pads, I know asbestos is a wonder material, but the whole issue is creating airborne dust.

Fossil fuels can’t be banned overnight; I am pro-renewables, but we’re just not there for freight/ag/rural/heavy industry. We can probably start getting enough city people on electric. The tech will continue to get better. Gotta walk before you can run.

CoffeeJunkie ,

…this is how people outside the industry learn what’s going on, possible explanations for it. 🤨 Otherwise everybody’s just perpetually in the dark.

Also, he didn’t say anything bad about UPS, just a bad part of bad software.
