YSK that if your turn signal is blinking unusually fast (like 3 or more times a second), it generally means you have a bulb out.

Why YSK: Your signals alert other drivers as to what you’re doing; a signal bulb costs a few bucks and is usually a quick and easy repair to do yourself (consult YouTube); and any place that regulates motor vehicles probably requires you to have working turn signals. So knowing when and how to replace a burned out signal bulb...

Here’s a thread I can really use! I’m trying to start a new healthy habit, but I’m struggling a bit.

Having a birthday with a zero on the end of it this weekend. It’s a bit of a mind fuck (as they have tended to be in the past.)

I’m a pretty healthy guy in general: still weigh what I did in college, been eating low-carb for several years… Been on a walking project where I decided to walk every street in my ginormous suburb while picking up trash as I go (it feeds my soul).

Which brings me to my struggle: I’ve recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis (fawk) which means, among other things, no longer putting off the weight-bearing exercises I’ve known for years are good for me (us). About a month ago I got some hand weights and have been doing a youtube workout thing (which my sister has been doing most of this year).

So what’s the problem?

I hate it. It’s such a grind. The walks? I look forward to those! The fresh air, the sunshine, the podcasts, the sense of accomplishment, exploring new neighborhoods, seeing the progress… The weights? Ugh.

So I’m wondering what I can or should do to “get my mind right”. It’s very possible that it’s going to be a “just fucking do it” situation? Maybe when I start seeing (and feeling?) some progress it will become self-reinforcing. Maybe I need to put on a podcast and turn down the volume on the workout vids…

Any advice? For you regular weight-pushers, what’s your ‘secret’? What get’s you thru your workouts?

TL; DR: I need to start lifting weights and I hate it. Looking for advice.

Hello! I’m looking for help in finding ways to stay up to date with News “of the World” in the modern age. Having de-Googled (and, therefore, abandoned Google News), I find it hard to track what is going on outside of links posted to Lemmy/Mastodon (my only social media), and have no subscriptions to any streaming channels...

Checked out NIGHT AMBUSH last night. (Original title, ILL MET BY MOONLIGHT.) Didn’t care for it at all. Considered a lesser Powell/Pressburger–Powell himself didn’t like the film. "Watching the movie again years later, Powell complained that he “was surprised by how bad the film was…”

I don’t have TCM, but I hope I’ll get an opportunity to hear Paul’s comments about his selections.

I’m an hour into HIS KIND OF WOMAN, but I’ve never been dazzled by Mitchum or Russell, unfortunately, so I’m struggling a bit with that one as well. 😏

As much as I admire PTA’s creative output, many of his recommendations have left me scratching my head. 🤷‍♂️

[edit] For the record, I have seen and enjoyed DINER and SWEET SMELL.
