What's was your favourite fast food product that unfortunately got retired and never came back?

Here, for a while at McDonald’s there was a 🍔 called “the 1955” and it was the best, big pieces of onion, an special sauce, buns and big piece of beef with bacon (for Europe standards anyways) it disappeared once and came back for an encore only to be removed again and never return.

Santa Fe items at Taco Bell.

Carl’s Jr. recently discontinued their Beyond Famous Star, which I honestly think tasted better than a regular Famous Star.

Sexiest submission I’ve seen in a long time.

Worst Avatar cosplay ever.

That would make sense why the cosplay is so terrible.

Pizza chefs of Lemmy, is a job as a pizza chef a physically demanding job?

I’m asking because, i’m thinking about doing a little part time job as a pizza maker on one day of the week because 1. i FRICKIN LOVE PIZZA and 2. i need to do something physically demanding as an contra to my office job which is only mentally exhausting. Just doin workouts at the gym would be an option yes, but getting the...

I am trying to get back into the groove of working on pet projects, to further fill out my portfolio. I’m a software engineer, and the last 6 years have been spent working on proprietary codebases. So, I figure it’s a good idea to come up with more ways to show my chops.

wesker , (edited )

I have a few projects I dabble in with a bit of rotation.

I want to start a new one, building out a CLI specifically for LaserDisc collection tracking and organization.

The idea (without having drawn out a tech design yet) is that first and foremost it serves as a search engine. I want to use the lddb search engine, however I don’t believe they have an API so I’d have to scrape the results.

You can hand input search terms, or you can use a barcode scanner and scan the UPC. If you’re like me and you use QR code stickers to catalogue your collection, you can also scan those with the right gun.

Results pop up. Then you have the option to save it to your collection, if it already isn’t. If it is already in your collection, you may have other meta data available such as watch count incrementing, a “loaned to X” flag, notes, etc.

Initially the database would be a simple, local Sqlite db that can be backed up. Later I could add some more connectivity options, for remote dbs.

Those are the bigger CDS right?

From outward appearances, but it’s different technology. LD is actually analog.

I’m sure they’d admit it, right? Right?

wesker ,

That’s exactly what I said. I’m surprised you could decipher the code in my comment that said nothing of the sort.

It’s not from injections, it’s from cuddling other men.

You need a huge attitude adjustment, bud.

It’s certainly impressive, but I feel like the liberties taken with some of the modern polish don’t do it for me. It looks like a shiny plastic toy.

I’m a fan of using Doomsday with sane settings and HD textures, but keeping the original sprites. You can dial things in to look pretty, but still feel true to the original art style and mood.

Protip: lick the end of the bag, so the plastic sticks to your fingers

Would you rather encounter a black bear or a… you know what, nevermind.

A big breakfast burrito and a latte.

Maybe it’s sonething a museum would be interested on?

wesker ,

Oh, I missed that part. Just trash it, then.

I don’t, because it’s my escape from most of their bullshit.

Who would win: every human in the world vs. every animal in the world?

I’m thinking the animals would easily defeat us, since trying to get all 8 billion+ humans to agree on a plan of attack would be a near-impossible task. By the time we’d be done trying to coordinate a plan, I figure the lions and cheetahs would have already devoured us, not to mention the larger animals like the elephants....

wesker ,

Animals could fight a really good long game. Especially species that reproduce very quickly.

Imagine not even being able to accelerate when you want to.

I’ve been a bachelor for the majority of the last 10 years. Relationships can sometimes be nice, but being by yourself can be nicer.

One time, decades ago, I was drunk at a house party and kept calling a woman by the wrong name. Eventually her friend got really mad at me. I have no idea why I couldn’t remember her real name.
