That is what I said last time and them I did it again, because the Black Friday deal was so sweat. Defintly regretting it already.

You include shallots, but not spring onions? I feel offended.

Also red, also spring.

IPv4 is 43 years old, and there was the arpanet before that. They probably meant Usenet with the term “online”. The first E-Mail was sent in 1971.

But tbh, I am quite impressed how early the YMCA adopted.

It was somewhat hyped to a degree in the mid 2000s. It had a lot of features other browsers hadn’t and many things just worked better, especially using tabs worked much better with them. They also had a linux version when that was not a common thing. Was kinda sad to see them fall.

He talks about it and says the T-Rex was too big. So, if the T-Rex had feathers she would probably overheat and thus he/science/whomever thinks they didn’t have feathers.

Don’t know if this holds up to current scientific research, but that is what the video says.

I always think of my old Asus eePc netbook from 2010 that had a special compartment that was accessible from outside without opening up the notebook itself, just so that users would be able to upgrade their RAM. How did times change from “help the user to get what he needs” to “help the user get what we need”. Personally I blame Apple for this tbh.

This is how this looked: images.bit-tech.net/content_images/…/panel.jpg

And the best part: My son is using this netbook now with a light weight linux. I actually switched the RAM 2 month ago. It even plays Minecraft and he draws on it with my drawing tablet.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Biggest difference is that defective RAM can cost you a lot more imo.

Don’t be mad, just wait to buy it till they offer a nice package deal (do we have a patient gamers community here?). If enough users do that, they hopefully change their business model.

Overall I also think that paid add-ons are quite okay, if they actually add new stuff and if the base game is a finished product in itself. Ensures that developers continue to take care of the game without subscriptions and leads to games that one can play for a decade (like CK2). But yeah, Paradox overdoes this.

Income inequality is not a huge problem in many parts of Europe. The distribution of wealth is. A fine, but important difference, because the effects of this are much worse.

I still use reddit on the browser, but I don’t want their app. I simply don’t enjoy the experience.

As long as old.reddit stays arround I’ll still be there from time to time. But my commenting dropped from ~5 comments per day to ~5 comments per month and my clicks drooped to ~1% of what it used to be. I simply used it much more on mobile.

4.3 gb for source code only seems like a lot though, doesn’t it? (I am just a data scientist/civil engineer/hydrologolist though, no software developer, so I might be wrong I guess).

menemen ,

Yeah, no. It’s much more complicated. If e.g. the gulf stream changes significantly winters in Europe might get much colder. It is not as easy as Hollywood movies portray it.

Globally we will have warmer temperatures, that much seems to be pretty much confirmed. But locally the results will vary very much.

On the positive side Uber finally got some digitalization into the process here in Europe (what also helps preventing being screwed over by the driver). But yeah, screwing over the drivers is bad.

At least here in Germany whattsapp is the standard. Apple has a phone market share if ~30%. In other countries the Facebook messenger is also quite important afaik.

But apple somehow managed to have pretty much all schools forcing their students to get an IPad. So the apple market share is increasing. I can not tell you how furious that makes me. Every parent has to buy one (or several) of those, so their children can use the most basic teaching apps, that any 100€ tablet could easily run. Poor children get an IPad on tax payers money, so I basically pay for my own children’s IPads and then a part of my tax money also flows to apple. I just wonder who (except Apple) got rich on that deal… I fxxxing hate politicians.

Ultrasound can push vaccines into the body without needles (www.newscientist.com)

Vaccines can be delivered through the skin using ultrasound. This method doesn’t damage the skin and eliminates the need for painful needles. To create a needle-free vaccine, Darcy Dunn-Lawless at the University of Oxford and his colleagues mixed vaccine molecules with tiny, cup-shaped proteins. They then applied liquid...

I knew people do this, but I was always to afraid of inhaling something extremely toxic to do this myself. And I used to be a chain smoker, when this was relevant for me. Not sure, if I was cleverly stupid or not.
