Yeah, I have a similar experience. I used a bunch of operating systems in my years. From C64 GEOS over Atari TOS Amiga OS, DOS, Windows (pretty much all of them since 3.1, except Vista and 8), Android, MacOS and iOS to Linux (several distros)

I don’t know why, but MacOS and iOS are for me just the worst user experiences. I feel completly trapped and helpless when using either one. Guess they are just not for me.

*Ferrero

menemen ,

Nestlé sucks. But I’d assume Ferrero uses even more palm oil. It is in pretty much all of their stuff.

Publicy they do suggest it, then deny it has been done, then “utter concern”, then suggest it again. Meanwhile sending all the weapons they can.

menemen ,

It is crazy to starve people to procced calling them barbars for being desperate. But here they (the fasicst government) are, using this exact argument to justify a massacre.

He won’t be better. But as a non american I can understand why someone would feel voting a genocide enabler is just impossible. Here in Germany it is a somewhat comparable situation (but at least I can give my vote for a minority party, that might actually get into parliament).

It can easily compete with Google. It is much better imo. Only thing Google does better is the document sharing. MS Office is a different thing.

Being a Turk myself: what do I have to do, to get my money?

After looking into this: is this name racist?

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Nah, old fart turk.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

And yet you have no problem with that spike being called a dildo?

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Last CoD I played was 2. Crazy what this at that time really cool franchise became.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

I always wonder why trade organization don’t organize stuff like this. Wouldn’t this be in the interest of the whole gastronomic industry? Pretty much every single restaurant in the country could earn more money (and I know they probably don’t care, but the gig workers could also earn more).

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

This is something that is still better in Germany. Companies are forced to have somewhat of an employee loyalty and some corporation go well above what the law forces them to (like VW). The way things are going lately, it feels like this won’t be like this forever. But atm it’s still one of the good things about Germany.

The proud Republic of Unemploymentia, maybe?

It is also quite difficult for native speakers. I have nothing against the general idea, but the “:” solution is just shit. Destroys the whole flow of the language. Takes me out of a conversation/speech/whatever every time somebody uses it.

menemen , (edited )
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

No one says Spiegel…Ei. if I say Kund:innen like that everyone will just hear Kundinnen.

And if also don’t think people will get used to it. When something new gets introduced into a language, the first natural thing is to adjust it to the speaking pattern. Which is not possible here as it is an explicit and intentional break of the speaking pattern. It will stay alien as it pretty much intents to stay alien.

Maybe children that are just learning to speak atm will, but current adults? Only those who want to really reallt convince themselves for ideological reasons.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

As a native speaker I am 100% sure they are wrong. Or 100% of the people using that are doing it are doing it wrong.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, and as I said the whole point of the “:” is to make a explipcitly noticable stop. Thus breaking the flow of the language. Otherwise it will just sund like the female version. This is not comparable.

@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

They said " environment", not climate.

Companies working against technical standards are basically working against society. And no one fights standards quite like Apple.

But be careful that the other option has “free return shipping” included.

Hmm, 1998. Is that Gen. X or Millenials? Makers are Gen. X, target group probably Millenials.

I understood nothing. But I feel like you know what you are talking about. I heard about that Payton guy.

New to Linux? Ubuntu Isn’t Your Only Option (www.howtogeek.com)

Ubuntu’s popularity often makes it the default choice for new Linux users. But there are tons of other Linux operating systems that deserve your attention. As such, I’ve highlighted some Ubuntu alternatives so you can choose based on your needs and requirements—because conformity is boring.

Rolling release and beginner is normally not a recommended combination afaik.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, but in most cases the beginner will have a few years before he is forced to do that

@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, but saving 1.50 per car improves some stupid business performance indicator, which respectively will get some manager a nice bonus.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Ever since I first met the insanity that are business indicator numbers, I lost my believe in humanity. People knowingly hurt their companies effectiveness and prosperity just to improve those numbers. And they get rewarded for it.

The US has actively used that kind of info to extrajudically kill people, we know that for sure. We don’t know if China actually did that (they probably did).

This is pretty much what I’d expect AI to be best at.

menemen ,

This is dumb. Dinosaurs looks are so diverse. He should have chosen a specific one.

I couldn’t name nor recognize a single song from either of them. Shit, I need to improve my mainstream media knowledge.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Too late.l, I used the last 5 minutes to do it already. :)

I knew several Taylor Swift songs from the radio, but didn’t think more of them but “the usual generic pop music” that normally leads to me changing the station immediatly (I expected this). I don’t think I will recognize her the next time I hear her.

I also knew some Kanye West songs and I even liked some of them (I honestly didn’t expect this). I somehow don’t want to like his music though, saw too much about him on Twitter and here).

menemen ,

But what apple specific non standard proprietary shit will they implement that you will have to buy from them for 10 times the price that competitors offer the equivalent. This is the interesting question.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe for you youngsters. We old farts only get to grow a beard and get fat.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Depends extremely on where you live. In Bremen you will be fine, in Schwerin you will be comparably wealthy, in Munich you might have to start collecting bottles on the street for some extra money.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Where is (real)juice though? Feel that should be at maybe C? And if softdrinks are f, where is Redbull?

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

I think this might be Latvian maybe. It is not turkish.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

Lol, I was so focused on identifying the (to me) non-standard letters, that I didn’t even try to read it.

menemen ,
@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

It is true though. When you really want to, stopping isn’t that hard. I chain smoked for 13 years. And then the time came when I really wanted to stop (I had an upcoming marriage and just needed that money). And because I really wanted to, I did stop.

I’d still suggest to make a plan beforehand though. Mine were nicotine free cigarettes. They really helped my hands to stay occupied and, even more important, I still could go on a smoking break at work from time to time. I let that fade out slowly.

@menemen@lemmy.world avatar

It’s been almost 14 years for me now. It will never go away completely. Just 2 days ago I rewatched some Sopranos and saw Tony smoke a cigar. Immediately I was extremely tempted to order some nice cigars online. Quenched that though, remembering how last time I tried “just puffing” a cigar and immediately drew deep down (that was my single and only slipup). Nope, no cigars, no shisha, no nothing.

It gets less problematic every year though and the triggers get fewer. Seeing someone smoke in front of a restaurant e.g only triggers a “Uff, good for me that I stopped!” nowadays. That used to be different.

What I meant is, that if you really want to, it is defintly something eveyone can manage. Yes, the addiction is real. But the human will is an amazing thing. One has to find the reason why to want to stop. Then it is defintly possible for everyone.

I was the “Uff, at least I don’t smoke as much as he” guy people looked at to feel better about their own cigarette addiction and no one believed I’d ever stop. But when I really wanted to, I just did. The half assed 20 times I stopped before that though… One has to find his “I want to stop” reason to actually do it.

When I was a child we often had peeled garlic on the table for me to snack on it during dinner. I must have smelled hideously.
