It’s not entirely wrong. There is absolutely a bias in what gets studied simply because it requires money to be given to study most things. For example, it’s why some more natural remedies like taking fish oil to help lower cholesterol took so long to have actual scientific backing; there’s no money in widely available remedies so finding funding to do the study was difficult.

You can see this really clearly if you look at more politicized areas, like economics. And for what it’s worth, it doesn’t mean that the evidence that’s generated is bad (although the conclusions drawn from it may be), but that it results in a lack of evidence for opposing viewpoints.

It can both be reporting the facts and be rage bait. A headline that said “Trump Bible only contains the Bill of Rights and not the rest of the Constitution” would also be factual, but it doesn’t push the narrative that Trump is anti-black and anti-woman.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Trump is absolutely anti-black and anti-woman, but the headline is absolutely ragebait. It is selective to get people to click it.

I’m not disagreeing with you about it being incorrectly advertised. I’m saying the headline is written to imply that the bible specifically excludes only the amendments that apply to slavery and women. That is not the case. In fact, the only place in the article that mentions that exact fact is the headline. So while it is technically true to say that it excludes those amendments, it is, at best, misleading. Why not say it “excludes amendment to handle the death of a president”? That is also technically true.

So what I’m saying is: you’re engaging in Lemmy’s second past time, bashing someone for calling out something that’s misleading because the implication fits your narrative.

They were definitely still biased. The difference is that the opinion was built into what they covered vs what they didn’t cover. ABC has always been a left-leaning network, CBS a right-leaning network, and NBC somewhere between. So while they might cover most big things very much the same, sometimes what they chose to cover or how much to cover it would reveal their leanings.

That being said, they were much more in-step than our news networks are now.

Teacher here. I can explain this as: at any given time only about 1/2 the class is listening to instructions. I’m guessing that 4th period is a smaller class, but they did well because the teacher could better monitor what they were doing. I’d be willing to bet that 7th period is the largest class.

Our school did that, but ran into an issue that not everyone around us did the same. So students that were involved in after school sports would sometimes be leaving after 5th period (in an 8 period day) 2 or 3 days a week. They’d need to leave around 2/2:30 to get to a 4pm game and have time to warm up. That had a pretty negative effect on their academic performance.

This argument has always been absolutely ridiculous. McDonald’s doesn’t set prices based on their costs. McDonald’s sets their prices based on what people are willing to pay. Why would they charge $4.80 when people would be willing to pay $5.15? That would be an extra $.35 profit if they charged more with no increase in costs.

While this means that there will be less profits, the worst case scenario is that fast food places determine that they can’t make profits and will shut down. They’ll use this as an excuse to bump their prices to more than compensate for their lost profits.

Especially now with the expansion of “datapacks”. I hate to say it, but Bedrock version of Minecraft might be the way to go. Java would be fine too, but unless they’re a bit more technical it can be harder to get multiplayer going for mods.

I’m non-binary. There is still a TON of social stigma around being non-binary. In fact, you’ve stated one of the things here: “non-binary people are just unwilling to fully transition”. I heard the same thing said about bisexual men back in the early 00s, that they were just gay men that refused to accept that fact.

I would say, very seriously, that a lot of especially AMAB non-binary folks face a ton of discrimination both from the cis community and parts of the trans community.

As for me, I’m agender. I’m very comfortable with my identity and have been for years. But I still get people asking “so when are you going to transition or just give it up” as if where I’m at now isn’t where I want to be.
