Wow, now I’m really glad I switched to Linux. Windows? Never again.

QuandaleDingle ,

Bruh, just use Spotify or VLC, XD. But VR, I think I can understand.

QuandaleDingle ,

Huh, I’ve been using gapless playback on Spotify so much, it’s become natural. Yeah, that’s a must have.

QuandaleDingle ,

Wow, is that part of the reason why my feed sucks so bad? Seeing the same kinda stuff over and over again? I think I understand both sides of this argument. We’ve got users who are complaining of having their experience restricted with means outside of their control. They feel that perhaps defederation is a heavy-handed approach to this issue when a scapel will do. i.e. blocking and muting.

Then, we have those who advocate for a safe fediverse and view defederation as a means to that end. Or likely, from a more pragmatic perspective, they want to protect their own local instances and communities. I’m sure they’re thinking, “Dislike these restrictions? Too bad, find another instance.” And finding a new instance would solve your issues, for the most part. This is a tough problem I can imagine, and it sure does make for a less streamlined experience.

Imma check those out. Thanks. :D

Tablet Calibration on Bazzite OS

Hey, I’m trying to calibrate my Wacom Cintiq Pro 32 on Bazzite OS, but I am running into issues. My problem is that my cursor is ~10px off from my pen tip, which makes drawing quite weird. Common sense would take you to KDE Plasma’s settings app, but the “Drawing Tablet” Input Device setting does not feature a tablet...

QuandaleDingle OP ,

Yeah, I figured I’d get more help there. Thanks. :)

QuandaleDingle OP ,

I will check this out. Thank you. :)

QuandaleDingle OP ,

Oh yeah, I can attest to that.

QuandaleDingle ,

It seems that FOSS developers and the like are terrible at naming projects.

QuandaleDingle ,

Man, what better chatbot than Cortana for Xbox…right?

Everything’s too small for power-hungry corporations with an irrational need for infinite expansion.

Crunchy audio coming through some Proton games on desktop but not on Steam Deck

Hi, folks. A bit of an unusual problem here. In some Proton games, in semi-predictable places, I’ll get this audio crunch noise. It’s not deafeningly loud or anything, but it is distracting sometimes. I first heard it when playing Starfield, and it was most common when loading into a city environment. This crunchy audio...

QuandaleDingle ,

Huh, that happened to me on Bazzite like two weeks ago. I rebooted, and it hasn’t happened again. Weird.

QuandaleDingle ,

Yes!!! Now if we could just get a Kbin app, that’d be great.

QuandaleDingle ,

Thanks for this. I’ll give it a look. :)

Facebook snooped on users' Snapchat traffic in secret project, documents reveal (techcrunch.com)

Meta tried to gain a competitive advantage over its competitors, including Snapchat and later Amazon and YouTube, by analyzing the network traffic of how its users were interacting with Meta’s competitors. Given these apps’ use of encryption, Facebook needed to develop special technology to get around it....

QuandaleDingle ,

Do you know how the Fediverse works? Instance maintainers who are less than thrilled with Meta can choose to defederate from Threads.

QuandaleDingle ,

I can’t directly answer your question. I know very little about Mastodon, as I just recently made an account. However, from what I’ve seen with a variety of open-source projects, as well as the fediverse itself, it seems that group politics may often hamper the very projects “they” are trying to improve. I hope that people try to remain in the spirit of their projects, whatever they may be.

Great suggestions. Worker ownership would fix a LOT of things in this country.

Decentered Podcast: Interview with creator of Blacksky (wedistribute.org)

This ended up being such a great interview. I know some people will shrug it off, because it’s Bluesky and not Mastodon, but Rudy’s a super smart dude and an amazing guest, and he shed a lot of light on building a community space for black people on an emergent platform. There’s so much good info coming from this man!

QuandaleDingle ,

Hmm, interesting. I must ask, is there such a Black-centric community here on Lemmy/Mastadon? If so, hook a brotha up. :)

QuandaleDingle ,

Why is it called UMU when it Wine has a W? It should be UWU. XD

QuandaleDingle ,

Prison work is slavery. Isn’t it the aim of prison to punish criminals so they may learn their lesson? Shouldn’t one of those lessons be, “You work a fair day’s work, you get fair wages?”

If you’re not helping them make that mental connection, jobs are going to be bullshit in their minds, and they are likely to return to a life of crime. They are serving time as they should, don’t take monetary reward from them.

QuandaleDingle ,

Are you kidding me? Doesn’t bother me that much, as I use Thunderbird with Protonmail bridge. I’m still waiting on Proton Drive for linux. Well, I’m gonna end up self hosting at this point. :(

QuandaleDingle ,

Ugh, they took too darn long. I’m probably going to switch to Nextcloud.

QuandaleDingle ,

Working on that right now. Wish me luck. :)

QuandaleDingle ,

I feel that. However, Proton’s a non-starter for me as I’m using Linux, so no Proton drive client. Really scratching my head since Linux attracts the security conscious.

QuandaleDingle ,

Hmm, seems interesting. What’s the reason for computing the raytracing with the CPU?

QuandaleDingle ,

I’m curious, what do you have against metering lights? I’ve never encountered them, so I had to look them up. It seems they are installed to maintain the flow of traffic on off ramps and reduce congestion.

Bluetooth issues on Bazzite OS (lemmy.world)

Hi, I’ve been having issues with my network adapter on Bazzite OS. Both WIFI and Bluetooth do not work, and the the utility nmcli device confirms this. I used lspci to find my network controller, which is a `MEDIATEK Corp. MT7922 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter. I’m unsure how to proceed further. Thanks.

QuandaleDingle OP ,

I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for your help. :)

QuandaleDingle OP ,

My kernel version is 6.7. I guess it’s a Bazzite problem.

QuandaleDingle OP ,

I found that my kernel is 6.7. I followed along with the guide and placed the firmware files in the correct location. It doesn’t work. I’ll rebase to Kinoite for now, it has worked for me before. Thanks.

QuandaleDingle OP ,

Thanks, I already knew about Kinoite, just doing some distrohopping. Guess I have to pick whats best for me. :)

QuandaleDingle OP ,

Hey everyone! I solved the problem! After a few hours of searching, I found that all I had to do was shut off my pc and then hold the power button for 30 seconds. Rebooted, and now it works. I feel stupid. XD

QuandaleDingle OP ,

Ok, will do. Strange this is happening.

QuandaleDingle ,

I’ve been interested in getting into Proxmox. How does it compare to Portainer?

QuandaleDingle ,

I see. Thanks! :)
