“Well believe our approach is the most sustainable and scalable moderation model that exists online today. We are continually investing in and iterating on new tools and policies to improve our internal capabilities,” the Reddit spokesperson said.

That’s not what mods say.

More proof it’s more punishment than concern for the baby. To them, sex is a sin unless for procreation and your punishment for having sex for fun or while poor (or sexually assaulted) is that you have to bear the burden because you sinned. They can’t handle their own sexual shit because it’s not allowed to be talked about, so they make us all deal with it. She doesn’t want to have her 3rd baby, but she’s a good Christian woman who can’t say no to her husband, so she has to have it, and she wants other women to have to have it too. The fawning over babies and speaking to the “sacredness of life” is the facade they wear because it sounds more “Christian”.

Oh that and, male power over women’s bodies. Because, you never know, that mystery pregnancy you got after the club might just be Jesus! Zeus came as coins ffs, so God may appear to the new Mary as rohypnol. Who knows?

For me, it was APImageddon - when Christian of Apollo played out the whole story, the lies he had been told, and how he tried to negotiate and Reddit just wouldn’t budge; when he said that there was no way he could make it work, I said, “Well, looks like I’m done with Reddit.” I went to mastadon first, but I’m not a micro-blog person, so I went between Kbin and Lemmy.world. I went to Reddit a few times, spreading the word and looking for communities that made the migration but, for the most part, I didn’t look back. I tried to contribute, and when it was quiet, I touched grass and stuff. I’m now at Midwest.social now because of the piracy debacle and .world defederating with Hexbear. I still use my mastadon account from time to time. But I’m happy and only see Reddit when it shows up in searches.

Edit: I did go back Reddit to help make pixel placing canvas (what was that thing called again?) a very special send off though. Fuck spez 4ever!

Pandantic ,
@Pandantic@midwest.social avatar

The basics: .world defederated from piracy comms in other instances as to not have liability in pirated material hosted on their servers. I’m cool with them making that decision, but I’d rather be in a more open, free instance so I moved.

No charges to be filed in fight involving Oklahoma nonbinary teen Nex Benedict, prosecutor says (apnews.com)

An Oklahoma district attorney said Thursday he doesn’t plan to file any charges in the case of Nex Benedict, the nonbinary 16-year-old Owasso teenager whose death following a fight in a high school bathroom was ruled a suicide....

Pandantic ,
@Pandantic@midwest.social avatar

I believe adults would be charged for assault, though proving that this fight “caused” Nix’s death is much harder. If the suicide note says something about it, there would still be a tough case.

He pretty much said “I think something may happen to me and they will make it look like a suicide.”

Unless she’s got a recording or document, the article’s title could have been, “Family friend tells reporter a story”

Yeah, it won’t hold up in court, and neither would it if she had recorded this casual, intimate conversation between two old friends.

Maybe, though, it’s enough to get the coroner to take another look at his death.

I’m not any defender of corporations, by any means, but I’m not sure that I’m willing to take the word of a “close family friend” who “needed help one day” any more than some corporate HR;

You sure have a lot more faith in corporations than I do…

Kind of sucks in my opinion because all it means is “Other people like it”.

It doesn’t even mean that, it just meant that they anticipated liking it and payed movie theater money to watch it. It could, by another metric, be seen as a flop or bad movie. Especially when it comes to opening weekend revenue because all that means is their advertising worked and got butts in seats for the first 3 days it was out.

Do you ever worry that you're secretly a psychopath that unknowingly manipulates people around you?

Someone recently told me that they sometimes feel gaslighted around me because I effortlessly make them question their beliefs and feelings. Hearing that didn’t sit well with me, especially since I’ve been pondering the question in the title for quite some time....

Personality disorder characterized by persistent antisocial behavior, impaired empathy and remorse, and bold, disinhibited, and egotistical traits Wikipedia

Seems you’re not since in this post you show empathy, remorse, and examining your flaws is anti-egotistical. Though you may think of not conforming to social norms as antisocial behavior, many people do this and put on a “public” facade.

Though, being “honest to a fault” is a little antisocial depending on how far you take that. Is it just “I never give a lie to a direct question.” Or: Do you always correct people who you know told a lie? Do you interject in stories where a lie has been told? Do you tell people unsolicited truths that are hurtful? Some would consider the latter list of behaviors to be antisocial.

It’s good to self-evaluate. I know I have some manipulative habits, I definitely lie too easily, sometimes without remorse, but I don’t fit a majority of the markers: I feel immense remorse at certain things, I’m not arrogant, I’m genuinely helpful, not just manipulatively so, etc. I would consider talking more in dept with your friends that want to cut ties or express frustration and hear out their concerns. We all have areas for self improvement, so don’t just yourself too harshly. Maybe as another commenter suggested, go to therapy and see what you can uncover.

It would be clever if they fit and I might actually click on them.

Honestly, I did the whole “inbox filter tabs” thing a long time ago, and it was real useful before when I had a few spammy, usually “news letter” or “promotion” email that I might use. But at this point it’s just where the email I don’t really want but don’t want to deal with go to die.

I appreciate the info, though, and I’ve already turned it off, but I might just turn it back on because idgaf about the ads really since I barely look at that tab/section of my mail anyway. At his point, I’m prolly just going to go to proton mail for now and just update my email with my important contacts. I’ve been trying to get away from Google for a while, I just haven’t had the time to complete the transition on all services.

I use gmail a lot on my phone, and I have seen ads, but I’ve never seen an ad like that. My point was I was mildly irritated that it gave me a sex line ad. It made me feel angry for the trafficked sex workers probably running a majority of those lines. I generally would imagine Google to be more choosy about their adds. This ad felt icky, which mildly irritated me.

Pandantic OP ,
@Pandantic@midwest.social avatar

Really? Everyone who sees ads for sex lines has shown Google they have interest in sex lines?
