Yeah, I used to have this kind of feel when I used to post a fandom specific Facebook group. There were a couple of incredibly (and probably somewhat more naturally) talented people in there whose art always got noticed, and mine hardly ever did. Like others said, it’s a natural effect of Social Media. I would step away and focus on your own art and improvement, which may reframe your thinking about what your art is for.

What’s your definition of “shoving [ideology] down people’s throats” tho? Because if you think having a rainbow flag flying outside one’s business is that, then you are too far for me to discuss with. Have you SEEN Christmas? I couldn’t escape Christian ideology if I buried myself for a month before Dec. 25th. I see 1 pride flag every other day, unless I go to a big city but, and if people don’t like that, they can just move 20mi away.

Edit: I was just thinking, Pride Month can’t even compete with Christmas in terms of length of real person “inundation time”, and we don’t have “temples for our gods” taking up space everywhere either, we have fucking flags and Skittles

It’s so easy to change instances, and there are extensions and things to export/import your subscriptions, etc. Just head over to one ones that’s hosting the content, or check out others to see if they will keep federated with the pirate communities. Make the same username, and most won’t even know that you’re posting from a different instance. You can still see everything you did before, just also possibly some other stuff. You might also get beehaw and hexbear (for better or for worse is up to you)! I feel like I might hop instances a few more times before I settle.

I don’t remember where it was for me, but I do remember it being the hop-on point for me into Lemmy because it was already well populated, so I figured it meant “good”. Now that I understand lemmy better, I’ve realized I don’t need to patron it anymore - there are better instances for me. I suspect that this is a good thing that something is causing users to move. I’m sure .world is the face of fediverse, or at least lemmy, for many at this point and will continue to grow in user base. Maybe losing users on the back end will satisfy the DDOS attackers, and also lighten the load while .world’s admin get it figured out.

Maybe this is a natural process of the fediverse?

Okay, you’re not on Reddit anymore where things are just easy because they spent time to figure it out. Fediverse is just a fledging group of sites that are getting an influx of users, while still trying to figure out both their instance, and cooperative rules that fit both their values and the wants/needs of their users. You want a well oiled machine, jump back into the mainstream where they use your data to personalize the adds they place between all the things you want to see. Or, you can go with the flow as this new ecosystem forms, sans ads, and free of data collection.

It’s fine if you’re not ready.

They should have asked them to change their rules instead. Sharing DL links can get the admin in trouble. LueLinks had to do away with it at one point too, and they were primo pirate site back in the day. I think reddit had r/piracy and other subs change their rules - the one that had links to mushroom spore sellers (forgot the name) had to stop sharing links to sellers that sold magic mushroom spores (not an illegal thing to do). It’s tough, but admin made guiding rules, and that breaks one of them. Plus, if it’s on their server, it could be admins head on the chopping block.

Here’s their justification - they found out about a business owner’s drunk driving records, and told the police. The police decided this was “identity theft”.

I can’t believe you got a ticket for speeding 53 in a 50! What state do you live in that police are that eager to give a ticket? Cops will only be that strict where I live in 25mph zones, usually school zones or a place where the highway goes through the middle of town.

They say something around here like: +8, you’re great. +9, you’re mine. And that is actually pretty low for how much I’ve seen people speed here (+15 sometimes, even on 2-lane highways like you’re talking about). I got ticketed for a +13.

Sounds like it. You could fight it if you have the time and will. Most likely (though take this with a grain of salt because I’m in the Midwest which is clearly different), the officer won’t see it as worth his time to go to the court hearing, especially if the fine is low.

And that’s what they want people to do. Likely it isn’t enough money for the officer to go after either, so you could just fight it to make sure they don’t get the money, if you have the time. It’s cool if you don’t.

The community I contribute to the most is the only one. The other same-name communities are dead (or only a couple old posts) and I posted a link to the one I use in the posts. Also, I browse on mobile most of the time, so I don’t see sidebars.
