Whoa whoa whoa, this is definitely for distilling water.

I would never consider distilling anything illegal with this pinkey promise

DahGangalang ,

Please, only plebes go for the pallet.

If you really want to maximize your per berry savings, then you need to buy the dockside warehouse package.

DahGangalang ,

Neat. I didn’t know any services like this existed.

Should I be wary of using this while logged in to my Microsoft account?

DahGangalang ,

Probably the Columbia University protests. I expect this means someone was arrested for having a bike lock (which can be used as a bludgeon).

DahGangalang ,

This also sounds like a reasonable explanation.

DahGangalang ,

This also sounds like a reasonable explanation.

DahGangalang ,

Wow, I think that is an instant winner for the annual “most dogshit excuse for cops to do a thing” award.

DahGangalang ,

25 per year (call it one every two weeks?) really doesn’t seem that high, esp with their wording of “non-stop executions”.

Guess that really speaks to how messed up these execution methods are.

As I type this, I can’t help but wonder how the mass executions during the French Revolution affected people’s psyche (seems like a well built guillotine would be able to go through closer to 25 executions per day). Anyone have info on that?

DahGangalang ,

And I would argue that this is different than if a soldier kills someone.

Like, when you kill as a soldier, generally the other person is trying to kill you (or you can at least tell yourself that afterwards. When you’re an executioner…well let’s just say they are known for wearing hoods for a reason.

DahGangalang ,

Is this just a Mount and Blade: Banner Lord ripoff? Kinda sounds that way?

DahGangalang ,

Good to know, thanks for the feedback!

DahGangalang ,

Good to know!

DahGangalang ,

Medieval setting plus the similar sounds of “Bannerlord” and “Manor Lord”.

I realize that was a total mistake to assumed that now.

DahGangalang ,

Not in the slightest. I feel the same way.

DahGangalang ,

I worry even Firefox is losing its principles on the matter.

DahGangalang ,

Don’t want to tell you what to post/not post, but can we at least get an NSFW marker here?

DahGangalang ,

Better yet, just use “cooz” as the “common unit”

Then it’s proportioned following fluid ounce measurements from there. e.g. “coc” (computer cup) is 16 coozes.

DahGangalang ,

All, of course based on how many kerned 1s and 0s (alternatingly) you could fit printed in 12pt Times New Roman font within the thing’s length.

Also, you need to alternate rounding your error (i.e. quarter rounds down, but hotdog rounds up, etc)

DahGangalang ,

Naw, it’s actually one Kinda Gallon; a Kinda Gallon of course referring to the average of the masses of a gallon of water, a gallon of beer, and a gallon of whiskey.

DahGangalang ,

I’ve wasted too many hours on Shatter Pixel Dungeon.

You can get the source for OG Pixel Dungeon off GitHub, but there’s a maintened version on the F-Droid store (Shatter Pixel Dungeon). There’s some other free versions floating around too, not sure if they’re on the F-Droid store too, but I know they’re on the play store.

DahGangalang ,

This is how I feel every time I see an overpowered “prototype” weapon in a video game that works better than the standard version.

DahGangalang ,

You’re right, none need to go…

…but most people are too tech illiterate to even know there’s an option outside windows. Hell, I dated a girl who though windows was the operating system on apple devices (she used the term windows and operating system interchangeably)

DahGangalang ,

I literally got one two weeks ago and had the exact same reaction.

Glad I’m not the only one.

DahGangalang ,

Maybe they should have just gone all in and named it Titan after that one famous boat.

Can’t remember what that boat was so famous for tho /s

DahGangalang ,

Or pro numbers, depending on how you look at it.

DahGangalang ,

Yo, yeah, what’s up with the acorns?

I guess it’s being associated with the sounds of a gun shot?

DahGangalang ,

…and so just to be clear, by pig, you mean a cop, yeah?

DahGangalang ,

Damn, that sounds like some real valuable one of a kind kinda merch he’s hocking.

DahGangalang ,

So other commenters have opinions that I think are rational, but the part that I think is key that they’re missing: Tenant Unions.

I have some (in my opinion) tyrannical yet lazy land lords/property managers at my current apt, and have attempted to form a tenant union. Apparently no one agrees with my level of disgust at our treatment, so I’ve kind of wiffed at the effort.

Which is to say that it takes real work, but it can be done and there are resources for you, but that’s the first step: don’t go alone.

DahGangalang ,

Talking to my neighbors, they’re dealing with a ~30% YoY rent hike.

Property is managed by RealPage (or some flavor of subsidiary/partner company).

I really hope that company gets SUNK after the anti-trust lawsuit they’re dealing with (it’s a really slow moving one, and I haven’t heard a substantial update since Summer 2023).

DahGangalang ,

6 O’ Clock News by Merkules and Chris Webby always gets me with the horn and siren bit.

DahGangalang ,

I think their power grid keeps them from being a super power

This is more feel than empirical data, but Netflix feels like they’ve gotten markedly better over the last 2-3 months.

I get the subscription as part of a membership on some other things, but would not have paid for the service the way it’s gone over the last ~2 years. That said after seeing the recent improvements, if my access to Netflix was cut off tomorrow, I’d probably shell out for the lowest non-ad tier of service.

However, mad respect for the people out there keeping the P2P/torrenting communities alive.

Edit: spelling errors

DahGangalang , (edited )

While not the newest content, it recently caused me to find and finally watch the classics Boyz in the Hood and Training Day, and this weekend I intend to watch Vice. It was also because of Netflix that I first found the new Puss in Boots movie, Blue-Eye Samurai, and Delicious in Dungeon (I generally loathe anime so those last two are fairly significant).

I think Inside Job and Narcos are Netflix only content? I thoroghly enjoyed both of those (and totally understand why people hate them for canceling Inside Job). My wife enjoyed/enjoys (she’s doing a full rewatch ATM) of Orange is the New Black. The two of us also just finished binging Kim’s Convenience.

They also just added some other big name content that were (I think?) Exclusive content on other platforms - specifically thinking Dune, Whiplash, and Joker.

Between discovery and availability, Netflix adds value to my life in my opinion.

100% respect for people who disagree and have contrary opinions and/or are outraged at their handling of exclusive content (ngl, I’m not happy with them canceling Inside Job). But it’s good enough for me to keep around - that, and my wife is super NOT technically inclined, and I’ve yet to find a solution outside of a standard streaming deal (read as: anything involving sailing the high seas) that meshes with her willingness to work with it.

Edit: Spelling is hard.

DahGangalang ,

Wow, yeah def a typo there. Thanks for catching that for me.

DahGangalang ,

I know Lemmy is supposed to be a “post-karma” ecosystem, but I’m happy to provide the additional upvotes and apparent activity.

DahGangalang ,

Attempting to ask similar question:

I do cold brew but haven’t found a grinder that give a consistent grind that’s coarse enough.

My current method is to grind as coarse as I can, and then run through a fine mesh sieve. Even then, I end up with a good amount of grounds making it through the mesh container I use for soaking.

Is there a go-to grinder people like for cold brewing?

DahGangalang ,

Had just clicked away from this post when I saw you comment. I need you to know that I came back just to ensure I upvoted your post (or whatever we call those here).

DahGangalang ,

A boost? I’m not familiar with what that is. That’s not a Lemmy thing is it?

DahGangalang ,

As a homemade cold brew enthusiast, yeah, the amount of work it takes to get the fines out of coffee ground with a cheap grinder is horrendous.

DahGangalang ,

Make it and then sell it to my wife to give to me for a gag gift next Christmas.

Her budget for such a thing would probably be ~$100 if you need a target price point.

DahGangalang , (edited )

Not at all impressive, but to maximize interactions on a newborn thread:

It’s probably my PS3, which I would have gotten Christmas 2008 (or maybe it was 2009?). I recently started sailining the seas, and the most convenient way to watch those videos is to burn them to a disk, and so the PS3 is really just a glorified DVD player (can’t even be bothered to use it’s blue ray functionality)

DahGangalang ,

I think there’s something to be said about shared cultural experiences, and so reading some older books is probably a good thing.

To clarify what I mean though: that means that we should be reading stuff that was written/popular when our grandparents were our age. Going back 200+ years should be saved for a history class cause that’s the real value in reading that material. In my opinion, Great Gatsby should be about the oldest book kids need to be reading for a literature class these days, and even that’s pushing it.

DahGangalang ,

This attempted contradiction doesn’t seem to counteract the above comment.
