Yup. I’m Bo7a.

Bo7a ,

repeating false info doesn’t help.

Bo7a ,

Are you going to apologize for making such a blatantly false claim? Or nah?

Bo7a ,

I would argue they are. My reasoning for this argument would be pointing at the history of the working class.

What is your reasoning for saying they are not?

Bo7a ,

This kind of bullshit generalization leads me to believe this conversation wouldn’t go very far. I’ll stop here. Cheers.

Bo7a ,

I made a bad meme to include the text so I could share it with my wife outside of lemmy.

And then I felt bad stealing a meme.

So I’m posting it here as penance.

Bo7a ,

I don’t get this. It is a common statement on lemmy especially among the new users. I have been daily-driving linux for many many years, and every install of a new distro gets 3 or 4 DEs added to play around with and find the ‘flavour of the year’ for myself.

I don’t recall this ever being a real problem. Ever.

Bo7a ,

Roughly the same here. And yeah this hasn’t been a problem since the very first years. And even then it was just some config tweaks.

Bo7a ,

NXT Roasters out of edmonton alberta. The guy is a roasting genius and invented his own forced air roaster. We moved across the country and still order our coffee (caf and decaf) from them after trying dozens of local and semi-local alternatives. Nothing comes close.

I strongly recommend their decaf and the yellow cataui for full-caf.

Bo7a ,

I order by email or phone.

Who am I kidding? I’m terminally online… I email. But I think I did the first by phone.

Bo7a ,

Yeah, I’m doing a terrible job because I was trying not to seem like I’m advertising for them. I’m not related to them in any other way than I love their coffee.

DM if you have any questions.

We live in a small (12ftx28ft) house where we heat with a wood stove and have pets so our dust factor is pretty high.

I use 10x10 merv13 filters and a modified bathroom exhaust fan that sits in my rafters. It completely changed our air quality. I change the filters when they get gunked up every 10-14 days which may be a bit expensive at ~8 bucks each filter, but it is worth it for the clear nose and sinuses!

Bo7a ,

Nobody gives a shit what it was intended for when it helps people kick two pack a day 25 year cigarette habits.

Like me. And a few others in this very post’s comment section.

Bo7a ,

Sorry, but your opinion doesn’t match reality in this case.

businessinsider.com/history-of-vaping-who-invente…

The inventor of vape juice and the methods for vaping it, was a doctor who was trying to kick his own habit.

And it is not ‘helping’ me. It helped. I’ve been off cigs 7 years, and vape for 2.

The rumors in the clownvoy supporting pockets of small towns was that Trudeau was having these fires started on purpose in order to cloud out the sky to make it harder to grow crops and make people more reliant on the federal government.

I really wish I didn’t know this…

Bo7a ,

I have never had a comment make me feel this old.

Have you been paying attention to the news coming out of texas? I’m guessing not.

Bo7a ,

Freedom is scary

I’m pretty free and never have to fear that the jackass in front of me on the highway will pull a gun if I look at him wrong. Crazy how a gun isn’t necessary for freedom.

Bo7a ,

No you see you have it backwards. I’m not afraid of psychos with guns because I live in a country with somewhat sane firearm laws.

The guy who pulled the gun on me in Boston lived in fear though.

Weird how that works.

Bo7a ,

Hey man. I’m just like… Doing my best.

NCSoft has granted the 'Private' homecoming server City of Heroes devs a license to host the game legally. (forums.homecomingservers.com)

The private servers have been up a while. But it is always hard for fan projects to gain traction for devs, players, or donations, when the IP could be yanked at any time. NCSoft granting a license should provide one heck of a shot in the arm for this cult classic game....

Bo7a OP ,

That would also be amazing!

Bo7a OP ,

Agree to disagree. I’m usually in bed by like 9:00 these days, but I was up till 1:00 a.m. playing. Sure, some of that is nostalgia. Some is just that it’s also a very good game.

Bo7a ,

This is ridiculous. Please turn in your nerd card.

Bo7a , (edited )

The downvotes on this are just strange. What impetus could there be for continuing to push the narrative that mastodon or lemmy are ‘difficult’ to sign up for and use? My wife(46) and mother(67), who are both technically impaired, signed up on the same day I did…

The process is so simple: All we did was google ‘mastodon canada’ and ‘lemmy canada,’ Then signed up for mstdn.ca and lemmy.ca.

Next steps? Nothing different than any other social site… Fill out the profile (like any other site) start looking for people and tags to follow (like any other site) and then bookmark the main page (like any other site).

Bo7a ,

This is at the top of all of the mastodon servers I have an account on. If someone lacks the curiosity to click the word explore, then that is on them, not on the tech.

Bo7a ,

How long before the repost with ‘Whoa Black Betty’ as the caption?

Bo7a ,

I mean… I’m not the OP but I don’t think people against meta/threads fear their idiot userbase. We just don’t want to deal with them. At all. Anywhere.

Or we’d have joined threads.

Bo7a ,

I would give anything to be rid of this disease. I haven’t slept a full night since 1996. And the pain… And it always seems like nobody understands. ‘Oh him? He just poops a lot, ignore the doom and gloom.’

Bo7a ,

Today is your day to shine. You have received the dumbest first day on lemmy award.

You mentioned the floor is what they’re aiming for but without a minimum wage the floor is zero. You fucking potato.

Bo7a ,

I save polite disagreement for valid discussions.

Bo7a ,

Not quite the same result. Blocking the instance stops you seeing their posts, but not the comments coming from their users.

Bo7a ,

Fair. But I’m on lemmy for discussion. I don’t want threads’ bobbleheaded userbase fucking up every discussion thread on lemmy. So I will stay on instances that have de-federated that shithole and urge other instances to do the same.

Bo7a ,

I’m not comfortable with assuming the dregs of Facebook will leave Lemmy alone. I’ll stick to instances that have defederated and I’ll actively block instances that don’t.

I’m not out here trying to stop you from being on federated instances or anyone else. But I will not personally support instances that allow that monster into the ecosystem.

Bo7a ,

My pleasure. TMYK!

Bo7a ,

Like I said, I don’t care what others do. But for me the correct answer is to not interact with users from that platform.

When I start seeing threads users in .world lemmy comment sections I will block .world.

Bo7a , (edited )

I am given to understand that I will still see the comments from threads users on lemmy. Just not the posts from threads.

Bo7a ,

I don’t think I was confusing the defed from blocking, I was confused about what you meant. Thanks for the clarification.

Bo7a ,

Hey now. Some boxed wines have AMAZING taste. Especially in their super-cool naming.

Bo7a ,

That starlink solves the remaining piece of missing infra that a normal person needs, regardless of the choice to live in a city or not. Even if the CEO is a blight on our species.

Bo7a ,

I would cherish that day!

It will probably happen if this capitalist wet-dream mellows a bit and government is incentivized to provide their own internet infra regardless of profit. But I am 45 and will probably be long decomposed by then.

But in the near-term - I can’t see any land-based ISP covering where I live.

The cost to run 15km of lines to town, when even power poles don’t exist, just to service me and the one other nutter who decided to live up here would be prohibitive even for govt funded public internet.

Bo7a ,

If you got that out of what I typed then I probably should have left the word moron in the previous reply.

Take a hike. I won’t reply again, but if you want to spew some more idiocy here I will read it and even upvote you so you can get the little dopamine hit you obviously need.
