The FAA investigates after Boeing says workers in South Carolina falsified 787 inspection records (apnews.com)

The Federal Aviation Administration said Monday, May 6, 2024, that it has opened an investigation into Boeing after the beleaguered company reported that workers at a South Carolina plant falsified inspection records on certain 787 planes. Boeing said its engineers have determined that misconduct did not create “an immediate...

The speed of light being isotropic has been demonstrated already and I believe I know what they mean when they say “both ways” : since all demonstrations of the speed of light are based on “round way trip” from A to B then from B to A. But, no experiments can measure a one-way trip speed.

Hi lad,
i was not certain so i double checked :
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotropy
Physics - - Electromagnetics :

An isotropic medium is one such that the permittivity, ε, and permeability, μ, of the medium are uniform in all directions of the medium, the simplest instance being free space.

… if you read this like i do, they do not care to diferentiate “round trip” and “one way” … and my vocabulary is not good enough to find a word that would fit.

The team believes that this indicates that UCYN-A can be considered a full organelle. They gave it the name “nitroplast,” and it potentially began to evolve around 100 million years ago.

Ok, nice, but of course they didn’t prove that such things did not evolve 1 million more times in nature (in the last billion years) … and that scientists have still to discover.

a “block” is not a “ban”. e.i. : if I have account ABC and from that ABC account I block user 123 then, from ABC I cannot read anything posted by 123 but I would be able to read 123’s posts from my other accounts (and so would anybody else).

Again, these observation do not fit LCDM. (…but do fit my baby model ) … :

Dr. Riess of Johns Hopkins, who had an early look at the DESI results, noted that the “hint,” if validated, could pull the rug out from other cosmological measurements, such as the age or size of the universe.

The following is what has been observed :

As a measure of distance, the researchers used bumps in the cosmic distribution of galaxies, known as baryon acoustic oscillations. These bumps were imprinted on the cosmos by sound waves in the hot plasma that filled the universe when it was just 380,000 years old. Back then, the bumps were a half-million light-years across. Now, 13.5 billion years later, the universe has expanded a thousandfold, and the bumps — which are now 500 million light-years across — serve as convenient cosmic measuring sticks.

The DESI scientists divided the past 11 billion years of cosmic history into seven spans of time. (The universe is 13.8 billion years old.) For each, they measured the size of these bumps and how fast the galaxies in them were speeding away from us and from each other.

When the researchers put it all together, they found that the usual assumption — a constant dark energy — didn’t work to describe the expansion of the universe. Galaxies in the three most recent epochs appeared closer than they should have been, suggesting that dark energy could be evolving with time.

They still do not hypothesize that baronic barionic matter could be continually created as time goes on (which is what I say* ) but they do hypothesize that dark energy does change over time which is an equally hard hypothesis.

*i say also that space develop exponantially at constant mater matter (barionic) density.

Saved you a click (and stupid intro) …

A typical vaccine teaches the human immune system to recognize a virus or bacteria as an enemy that should be attacked. The new “inverse vaccine” does just the opposite: it removes the immune system’s memory of one particular molecule. While such immune memory erasure would be unwanted for infectious diseases, it can stop autoimmune reactions like those seen in multiple sclerosis, type 1 diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis, in which the immune system attacks a person’s healthy tissues.

In the 21st century, multiple methods have been used to determine the Hubble constant. “Late universe” measurements using calibrated distance ladder techniques have converged on a value of approximately 73 (km/s)/Mpc. Since 2000, “early universe” techniques based on measurements of the cosmic microwave background have become available, and these agree on a value near 67.7 (km/s)/Mpc. (…)

Those are weird units indeed :
(1 km /s) / 1 mega parsec =
(1000 m/s)/(10^6^ x 3.0857×10^16^ m) =
1/3.0857×10^19^ seconds =
1/978 x10^9^ years.

So, when we multiply by the rates (which are either 67 or 74) we get :
1/ 14.6 giga years or
1/ 13.2 giga years
… basically ( 1/ “age of the universe”).

Meaning physical observation disagree about the age of the universe …or the theory is faulty.

INTRODUCTION
Delivering advanced semiconductor manufacturing capabilities for the coming decades will require an unprecedented control of plasma chemistry and kinetic behavior at the wafer surface. Developing equipment that can enable this control will necessitate increasing reliance on predictive modeling tools which can accurately capture this physics. Such tools, perhaps in combination with artificial intelligence approaches, will also enable the generation of digital twins for plasma equipment and reduce the time for optimization of integrated circuit fabrication recipes (…)

Scientists develop game-changing ‘glass brick’ that could revolutionize construction: ‘The highest insulating performance’::The team of scientists developed an aerogel glass brick, which is a translucent and thermally insulating material.

A_A ,
@A_A@lemmy.world avatar

You are confusing the units : the value for aerogel is for a 1 m thick wall, while the value for your glass blocks is for 16 centimeter (one block thick). So an error of 16/100 ratio (or 100/16).

Weak-lensing detection of intracluster filaments in the Coma clusterwww.nature.com/articles/s41550-023-02164-w
AbstractThe concordance cosmological model predicts that galaxy clusters grow at the intersection of filaments that structure the cosmic web and extend tens of megaparsecs. Although this hypothesis has been supported by the baryonic components, no observational study has detected the dark matter component of the intracluster filaments (ICFs), the terminal segment of the large-scale cosmic filaments at their conjunction with individual clusters. We report weak-lensing detection of ICFs in the Coma cluster field from the ∼12-deg2 Hyper Suprime-Cam imaging data. The detection is based on two methods, the matched-filter technique and the shear-peak statistic. The matched-filter technique yields detection significances of 6.6σ and 3.6σ for the northern and western ICFs at 110° and 340°, respectively. The shear-peak statistic yields detection significances of 3.1σ and 2.8σ for these ICFs. Both ICFs are highly correlated with the overdensities in the weak-lensing mass reconstruction and are well aligned with the known large-scale (>10 Mpc) cosmic filaments associated with the Coma supercluster.
