That looks like an IBM PC. I recognize it from my childhood years when the father of a friend (who worked for IBM) had one in the early 80’s. That dude is probably as nerdy as he looks. So not a dumb terminal, it’s one of the first home computers.
Yep, looks about right. The photo to too dark to see the .25" drives but with all those boxes, it’s clear it gets use. I can almost hear that damn dot matrix printer though because I had that model one at home as a kid . That thing was LOUD.
Or the satisfying ka-thunk when you pushed the bar on the floppy drive to lock the disk in place. We had a modified one when I was growing up that had a five MB hard drive.

Isn’t this only the case in github? All my repos are based from master, and I would assume that’s because I init on the command line and push up to the remote?
GitLab also changed a few years back. We host our own, so got the update later than people using the service … it was a bit of an argument at first since everyone wanted to stick with the familiar, but laziness won out. Unfortunately, it’s not really justifiable to go back and change legacy projects, so now it’s inconsistent
If you don’t have any scripts that rely on branch name it should be pretty trivial actually. But I wouldn’t be shocked if you had a few dozen scripts that nobody has looked at in the last century lol
The question actually came up for a new tool to help automate dependency updates. Do we need to change the config to account for the inconsistency?
It turns out we don’t: it correctly uses the default branch, no matter what it’s called. However we had to consider the question. and investigate. It spent someone’s time
It works fine for small projects. I think that with more than 2-3 devs a PR based strategy works better for enforcing review and just makes life easier in general, since you end up with less stuff like force pushes to fix minor things like whitespace errors that break everyone’s local.

The organization had a couple interfaces using the protocol when I left. But adoption is slow, just about everyone still uses HL7. But it has been a couple years.
I asked because I’ve been working in the same field for 10 years, interfaces as well. You can count our FHIR interfaces on one hand, the rest is DICOM, HL7 or proprietary.
Fuck that, I don’t trust executables unless they’re signed, downloaded securely (e.g. HTTPS), and I trust the source I downloaded them from. Anything else might as well be a virus. If I can’t find a signed binary from a trustworthy source, I’m either not using it or I’m going to build it myself (after skimming through the code).
I could comment on the notion that one owns one’s girlfriend but regardless, you should definitely self host if you’re sharing deeply personal information with a program
I’m thinking through it and I don’t think you should run a therapist off your phone either. Not even for privacy reasons, that just seems like a recipe for disaster.

Some people are energised by that kind of thing. However if you don’t want to reveal things to humans, you can use (if you are more technical) llama.cpp
