The Walt Disney Company is an American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate headquartered in Florida. ABC News is a brand of Disney Advertising, whose primary product is propaganda to buy automobiles and prescription pharmaceuticals.
MBFC is a right-leaning credibility gatekeeper that classifies this advertising vehicle as left of center, but it should be remembered that ABC is a neoliberal tool of billionaire Bob Iger, who rescinded his membership in the Democratic Party in 2016 when Trump came to power, and now identifies as an independent voter. He has donated to both Democrat and Republican politicians and PACs, but has been a enemy to unionization and working people. His only allegiance is to the billionaire class.
If you want to understand bias, follow the money. David Van Zandt’s site MBFC has a terrible track record of properly vetting sites for bias, and should not be featured here as an authority. Any journalism that is ‘left-leaning’ coming from ABC News exists in spite of its fundamental right-wing bias.
Always amazed people like him are right wing. Money won’t save you when the government can just take it from you and send people to kill you because they don’t like who you are
Sure it can…the following book is about that and nonfiction. They want bunkers in New Zealand and shit. Crazy story but basically they do think their money can save them, so they have no incentive to act in any way other than selfish. And maybe they can “buy” the government, like Thiel with Vance and all the millions he gave him to run for Senate.
If the person with the most money wins the apocalypse, then their one objective in life is to become richer and richer and richer. It’s a fascinating yet horrifying rabbit hole to go down but it does help to explain their fucked up actions.
Five mysterious billionaires summoned theorist Douglas Rushkoff to a desert resort for a private talk. The topic? How to survive the “Event”: the societal catastrophe they know is coming. Rushkoff came to understand that these men were under the influence of The Mindset, a Silicon Valley–style certainty that they and their cohort can break the laws of physics, economics, and morality to escape a disaster of their own making—as long as they have enough money and the right technology.
In Survival of the Richest, Rushkoff traces the origins of The Mindset in science and technology through its current expression in missions to Mars, island bunkers, AI futurism, and the metaverse.
Here is a podcast where he talks about it, sorry for Apple podcast link; the episode website itself doesn’t seem to exist anymore:
I feel dirty saying good things about Sarah Palin, but she was brought on to fire up the base and did just that. Vance has managed to alienate the base. I don’t think the incels even like him at this point.
Of course the incels don’t like him. He argues that childless people should pay higher taxes. How did anyone think that would go over with the “never even had sex” constituency?
I think the incel crowd generally want to strip women of their rights because they see women’s liberty as a main reason they can’t get laid.
So, I’d imagine the childless cat women thing could hit with them because they’d be like “yeah, women should stop being so up-tight and have my babies!”
yeah, single women with no kids are childless cat ladies, but single men with no kids are just victims of the uncompromising selfishness of childless cat ladies. sounds about right.
Incels would agree to pay more money if it harms women. All incels hate each other, men who aren’t incels, themselves, and women. That’s in ascending order. They are full of hate.
Incels also hate the cruel world that made them and the politicians upholding it. The problem with women isn’t, according to incel ideology, that they refuse to pick a partner. It’s that they pick the wrong partners. That’s where the dreaded “nice guy” comes from.
So according to incels this doesn’t harm women enough but rather creates a tax on “normal men” for being “normal”. (And then they turn around and call themselves degenerates because their ideology isn’t the most consistent)
Also if you are in these communities for long enough, then it becomes part of your identity. That’s how we get stuff like wizardchan. (People who believe that still being an incel at 30 makes you a wizard). And this is an attack on that from the outside.
Trump thought that he’d appeal to hillbillies and poor Midwesterners. Clearly he didn’t read Hilbilly Elegy beyond the title.
If he did, he would have learned that, much like Clarence Thomas with black people, Vance paints all poor people in Ohio and Kentucky as lazy welfare recipients who should just pull themselves up by their bootstraps* and work harder 🙄
*which was originally an expression for doing something literally impossible, as pulling on your own bootstraps would make you fall down.
It’s not that it makes you fall, it’s just a non-lever. If you sit on your ass plant your feet flat, then try and pull on your ankles to help yourself up, you’ll get the same effect where it’s actively a hindrance to getting up.
True, although he also had a history of cancer and other medical issues and cancer was what finally killed him. Being president ages you a lot unless you’re lazy as fuck like Trump. McCain was a lot of things, but lazy was not one of them. I think there was a decent chance he wouldn’t have survived his first term.
Sarah Palin was like a dog that peed on themselves because they’re an idiot. Vance is like a dog that bites their owner because they’re an idiot. Sure, Palin was dumb, but Vance is a real threat to all Americans.
I don’t know about that… but then I made sure to read about her past as mayor of Wasilla and before that. She is incredibly malicious and petty and vindictive.
Never forget that Pence was maybe even considering going along with Trump on J6, but Dan Quayle the potatoe man talked him out of it.
Quayle was adamant, according to the authors. “Mike, you have no flexibility on this. None. Zero. Forget it. Put it away,” he said.
But Pence pressed him, the authors write, asking if there were any grounds to pause the certification because of ongoing legal challenges. Quayle was unmoved, and Pence ultimately agreed, according to the book.
In the name of Murphy Brown I never thought I’d say this: Thank God for fucking Dan Quayle, of all people. once MAGA is in the dustbin of history that doofus should run for office on the platform of actually having saved democracy.
Dan Quayle is an idiot and an asshole, but unlike the current crop of Republicans, he actually wants the system to work. He doesn’t want everything to collapse for his grandkids.
