The initial plan of US was to weaken Russia and make putin withdraw on its own.

With recent delivery of long distance munition, changing policy on hitting into Russia and imposing sanctions on banks it is clear that the policy changed to let Ukraine defeat Russia even if it would result in a collapse of RF.

It’s not.

The red line was placed by US itself as a response to Russia threatening using nuclear weapons if Ukraine gets any help.

Russia of course didn’t, but adopted that red line itself and used it on its propaganda.

As they started offensive on Kharkiv, and started bombing Ukraine from behind the border so Ukraine wouldn’t be able to respond, they essentially forced change of that red line.

US allowed to use of its weapons in that area.

Now the problem for Russia is:

  • it was easy to say “no Western weapon can be used on territory of Russia”, but now they can’t say “it was fine to use Western weapons on Belogrod, but Rostov-on-don is a red line” that doesn’t work well in propaganda, is putin saying Belogrod isn’t Russia?
  • other Western nations gave permission to use their weapons anywhere in Russia with no restrictions
  • the actual agreement where Ukraine can hit and where it can’t are secret and known only to US and Ukraine

This means Russia (including maga politicians) once it stops with this sabre rattling, won’t really have much way to use propaganda about future changes.

The agreement being secret will also allow to be modified without much headlines. We will only learn after the fact. For example Russia reporting they saw fragments of US weapons in different areas. Most won’t care anymore.

This particular case actually started when trump was still president. Cohen is a convicted felon that already served 3 years, because he helped trump commit this exact crime. Trump wasn’t indicted back then only because he was president at the time.

I remember it differently. Employees of OpenAI threatened to quit if he was not reinstated.

Exactly, and even if it might seem like your single vote doesn’t matter, you would be surprised. trump won in 2016 because disinformation on social media convinced people that their vote won’t change anything and Hillary will win anyway.

I recently read an article that he is allowing to install China’s face tracking cameras in Hungary. I first thought that he was installing it for his own benefit and just got the technology from China, but this actually will be used by China.

And to me it looks like it can’t be done by EO and would have to be a legislation. And during trump very few legislations got passed even when they had a majority.

The restrictions on sale through Mexico can be implemented when it actually is a problem.

I found an article where they announced a factory in Mexico, but it first have to be built. The news also appears to be before the sanctions were announced. So if that factory was meant for US market this could change their plans, as adding 100% sanctions signals determination to plugin other loopholes.

Unlike Hollywood movies, things aren’t always black and white. It is quite possible that both sides are. Neither the Hamas nor Nethanyahu government are the good guys. Both sides try to exterminate the other side. Both sides also don’t mind killing innocent people in their way.

It is a fucked up situation, and with recent developments it looks like it is turning into Israel’s Afghanistan. Biden was right warning Nethanyahu to not make the same mistake at US did after 9/11.

Yeah, it is not easy.

We seem to have primarily high calorie foods. The reason people change diets to get some low calorie ones that keep them feeling full.

Another thing, but perhaps not as much related to losing weight is that food doesn’t exactly work like most people think i.e. it isn’t that we consume something then we get energy from it and then we excrement it. In reality our body absorbes the food and uses it for other functions. So unhealthy food still affects us negatively.

I just recently learned about liquid calories and why are they dangerous when you care about weight.

For those who are not aware. A liquid will be processed very quickly by our body. For example you get your favorite soda that has 150 calories your drink it, and your body processes it quickly, you urinate it but the 150 calories stay with you and you feel hungry again really soon so you eat another meal to fill your stomach.

I think this bullshit is more prevalent today than in the past. Companies found more loopholes to go around (for example unlimited vacations[1]), the worker protections aren’t enforced as strictly.

I believe this phenomenon is likely US specific.

[1] unlimited vacations look great on paper, but with them the company no longer needs to track of 2 weeks of vacations, so they no longer need to pay them when you leave the company and not used them and also doesn’t have to force you to use it. The peer pressure makes you unlikely to take more anyway to not look like a slacker.

This is true. Russia saber rattling about using nuclear weapons, doesn’t mean much. Putin knows this would not lead to victory and likely would end up with him losing power and likely life.

The scary time is what he will do when he will see his power slipping. Thankfully in 1992 Gorbachev managed to handle it peacefully. Hopefully when it happens it will end up similarly.
