I wonder how many people she's witnessed miscarry or go in to early labour and left locked behind bars without medical attention, "just following orders". Well, in that line of work surely she can appreciate that her colleagues were just following orders too.
*this isn't a defence of the people who "stopped" her from leaving (without any restraint, and she doesn't even report being threatened with being fired or anything, just told not to go) or of how she was treated, it's a display of disgust and a pointing out of the hypocrisy of people who choose to actively oppress others for a living and then act all surprised when they get oppressed themselves by the exact same system.
Come on, misogyny is definitely part of the ideology of the right, but let's not act like there aren't plenty of liberal misogynists - have you ever read a Reddit thread having anything to do with women?
Holy shit, I can't imagine a scenario where the state and prison could have acted any worse. That article goes from bad to worse to nuclear annihilation 😐
i didnt bother to read it because texas does whatever it wants and only the federal gov’t can give this woman a reprieve of any kind; but so long as that ass hat biden is in charge; nothing will happen.
Biden is a long term establishment politician who nominally stopped being racist, homophobic, and classist once it stopped being politically popular; so he won’t shake the boat and force the rich to take action.
Trump is a clueless dumbass whose foolish actions as president forced the rich to react and that’s the sole reason I’ve been employed since 2017.
Both suck but only one doesn’t try hard to falsify his racist, homophobic, and classist beliefs and also only one will openly shake the trees of his enemies to see what falls out and that’s not Biden; which is why trump is very slightly better.
Maybe you should read the article to find out why your content makes zero sense whatsoever. Assuming you know that the president personally fucked this woman over is crazy.
He didn’t, and the person you replied to was saying that unless the person they replied to has evidence of Biden fucking this woman over then their comment is nonsense
That’s a state prison. State’s rights yeah? Not Biden’s responsibility, not Biden’s problem. Look at the Texas governor if you want to be mad at someone
It’s easy to drive someone on to base. After you’re in they could get to the barracks without interacting with anyone. The only person at fault is the marine.
By sneaking them in the trunk? They don’t search shit at the gates? Too much fucked up shit happens around bases of meat heads trained to fuck people up. Maybe just keep the barbarians in the base. You can’t tell me the shit they do is good for their sanity. Why do we need so many soldiers fucking off in a base in America all day? What war are we fighting exactly?
They only check the driver’s military id most of the time. Imagine how long it would take to get everyone in base if everybody commuting got a full vehicle search every morning.
The only time I’ve had my car searched on any base was when there were reports of a missing child, and or some other security lockdown (unauthorized access). I was in the military for 12 years. And we need them “fucking off” on base for training, for shore duty rotation due to morale. For medical care. For upkeep of military equipment. To make sure the mail gets delivered. To organize and plan and figure the logistics of the war machine. They have jobs they go to everyday. They aren’t just fucking off. Also, keeping the “barbarians” on base is equivalent to prison. That’s what we do with prisoners. We restrict their movements. Those people, those soldiers work on base. It’s their job. And they are citizens. Are you really suggesting that we imprison them and don’t allow them to interact with anyone else (violating their rights) because they volunteered to join the military?
Like. The girl was sold into sex slavery. The Marine is obviously in the wrong here for multiple reasons. I’m not defending him. Other people were definitely involved in how she got to base (knowingly or unknowingly) and they should be held to account. But what the fuck.
Even the success they tout is an absolute fucking failure:
In response, EY announced a fund in February 2022 to reimburse up to $800 per year for commuting, pet care and dependent care costs for each of its 55,000-plus U.S. employees.
The fund, which is ongoing, had an immediate positive impact on employees’ in-office attendance, Giampietro adds. Since EY first rolled out this benefit in February 2022, EY has seen a 150% uptick in office attendance across the U.S.
“It didn’t take a complete rehaul of our return-to-office policies to make employees happy,” he says. “We just needed to listen to our people and understand what, specifically, was problematic for them, and offer resources to address that.”
They added a potential cost of $44 million a YEAR (55k * $800) to keep their employees in the office. So instead of just letting employees work from home, they increased their costs dramatically, didn't solve the problems around RTO for their employees ($800 for childcare a year? And that's supposed to cover commute costs as well? Gimme a break), and still have to pay rent or mortage on their office spaces.
And I bet every single one of their RTO "success" employees is looking for a WFH job.
JFC just admit it, CEOs. The workspace has changed, for the better, and it's simply time to unload your empty commercial property. That's the only smart business decision for a company trying to retain employees.
