Great another fascist judge. We can do without a couple i suppose

Coreidan , in North Koreans stole Americans' identities and took remote-work tech jobs at Fortune 500 companies, DOJ says

Prove it. You can’t. Time to stfu doj and go home because you’re drunk.

Stamau123 ,

Bruh, open the God damn article and start reading before everyone thinks you only know cryillic

The three people arrested include an Arizona woman, Christina Marie Chapman, who prosecutors say facilitated the scheme by helping the workers obtain and validate stolen identities, receiving laptops from U.S. companies who thought they were sending the devices to legitimate employees and helping the workers connect remotely to the company.

The other two defendants include a Ukrainian man, Oleksandr Didenko, who prosecutors say created fake accounts at job search platforms and was arrested in Poland last week, and a Vietnamese national, Minh Phuong Vong, who was arrested Thursday in Maryland on charges of fraudulently obtaining a job at a U.S. company that was actually performed by remote workers who posed as him and were based overseas.

I’m confused. Are you implying that they should have gotten the kids stoned?

    FlyingSquid ,
    @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Even if it had no longer-term health effects on a child’s developing body (and I’m not convinced of that at all), it just seems like a bad plan considering kids already eat too much, get paranoid and make bad decisions.

    metallic_substance ,

This is some world class gymnastics to make this article relevant to a (completely unrelated) topic that matters to you

DeprecatedCompatV2 , in Economic damage from climate change six times worse than thought – report

WamGams , in Magician David Copperfield Accused of Grooming, Groping, and Drugging Women

Didn’t he groom Fiona Apple in like 1995? I am surprised it has taken this long.

CaptainSpaceman , in Parasite outbreak cases in Devon double to 46

Cryptosporidiosis is an infection that causes diarrhea. It is sometimes called Crypto. It is caused by a parasite found in stool. You can get this infection after eating food or drinking water that is contaminated with stool.

thesohoriots , in Bill to ban most public mask wearing, including for health reasons, advances in North Carolina

“Before it moves to the house”

And guess who controls the house, and then it gets vetoed by the democrat governor, who then gets overridden, and then the goddamn state Supreme Court decides to have that shit etched in stone. Sherman should’ve made one more pass.

frustrated_phagocytosis , in World's top golfer Scottie Scheffler arrested on charges of assaulting officer at PGA championship event

What sort of person leaves their 9 day old baby to go play golf? What a douche.

    Squeak ,

    A professional golfer? He’s going to work…

    frustrated_phagocytosis ,

One of the people who can definitely afford to not need to be away after the kid's born. If you have the opportunity, why not spend the time with them?

    NewNewAccount ,

I read a bit about him this morning. He’s at the top of his game and has an opportunity to make a ton of money with this major tournament.

As someone who took as much paternity leave as possible I totally understand why he did this.

    Veedem ,
    @Veedem@lemmy.world avatar

I get your point of view, but athletes have a limited window to make as much money as possible (especially in a sport like golf where there are no guaranteed contracts). I’m sure the mother understands the decision as a long term one.

    frustrated_phagocytosis ,

Holy shit, do you think the kid's gonna reschedule his development windows for golf? It's his first kid, and he's making a mistake. Doesn't matter if the mom's OK, him being absent means less familiarity with his own son's behavior and needs. Why every mother doesn't insist on massive father involvement during her own recovery from birth is insane.

    iegod ,

You know nothing about his relationship with his child. This is wild speculation on your part.

    frustrated_phagocytosis ,

I know how long it takes to recover from birth, and 8 days ain't it

    HonkTonkWoman ,

You have abnormal fascination with the fact that this particular father did not father the way you wish he had fathered.

xc2215x , in A school banned all books with LGBTQ+ parents. Now people are fighting back.

    Glad the people are.

wick , in X now treats the term cisgender as a slur

Wow that’s unbelievable. As in I literally don’t believe it. So I tested it by posting various sentences containing these words and other known slurs to compare, and found it didn’t work.

Maybe this is some American thing I’m not Free enough to experience in my corner of the world, or it doesn’t do this on android or the browser site. (The tech crunch screenshot looks like something else, probably iOS)

It hard to say because no one is even a little bit curious enough to test it. Idk how this thread contains anything else but people testing it, because it’s so damn unbelievable. Why is no one testing this themselves? Why are you not testing it yourself?

Coreidan , in Teen who ate spicy tortilla chip died of high chile consumption and had a heart defect, autopsy says

If you play stupid games you win stupid prizes.

    todd_bonzalez ,

Eating a tortilla chip probably shouldn’t kill you.

    Coreidan , (edited )

    “Shouldn’t”. Yet here we are.

Tortilla chips probably shouldn’t need warning labels. Yet here we are.

    todd_bonzalez ,

I feel like you think you’re saying something profound, but it honestly doesn’t sound like you’re saying anything at all. What does this comment even mean?

He had a heart condition. The capsaicin triggered a reaction. He died.

It’s not like people are frequently dying because of spicy food. There are no shortages of spicy food eating challenges, and usually nobody gets hurt. It’s generally regarded as harmless, because it usually is.

This was a tragedy, but you’re acting like he deserved it or something. For eating a hot tortilla chip from the grocery store: a thing that never fucking kills people.

    KISSmyOSFeddit ,

How is eating something you bought at a grocery store, which is labelled as food, playing stupid games?

KillingTimeItself , in Mississippi governor signs bill to let cis people sue trans people if they use the bathroom

we need to make suing people illegal, i think.

    force ,

imagine being one of the guys to get run over by some careless celebrity’s SUV though. “every bone in your body is shattered and your legs and torso are beyond recognition? too bad you can’t sue me over it”

or you know, something actually serious like getting your water supply tainted by some company dumping chemicals. that’s not as funny as attempted vehicular homicide though

    KillingTimeItself ,

see that’s called personal injury. Which is a little different to suing someone because “they went into the wrong bathroom, i think.”

your water supply being tainted would more than likely be a government headed suit anyway. Thats kind of the point behind regulations.

I was mostly talking about the bullshit frivolous suits that people like to shit out because their feelings get hurt.

    HurlingDurling ,
    @HurlingDurling@lemmy.world avatar

Petty lawsuits should not just be dismissed but the accuser should be charged with a misdemeanor.

    KillingTimeItself ,

i think we should allow lawsuits if you assume the full cost of the suit, meaning that if it’s an ez win, you can just pro bono that shit.
