Seriously, stop bitching about paywalls and use just the slightest bit of research.
The onus is not on me to go do extra work to be able to read the article, it’s up to the person making the post to make sure the article’s readable by all, or to include the link to a non-paywalled version in the summary.
My goal is to bring awareness for paywalls and trying to get them to not be used. They should not be promoted here on Lemmy.
Lol victim, I gave you the full article, you’re not a victim you’re lazy and cheap.
Either find the article on an archive site, or pay for quality journalism. It sucks I know, capitalism has turned news into a profit model that only truly benefits the rich. We’re all victims of capitalist greed. But don’t spread your learned helplessness. Offer solutions and critique so we can all be better.
Or bitch that you’re not spoonfed. One or the other, you’re free to fuck up your own life how you see fit.
… I’m still chuckling about your victimhood. Give me free labor without commensurate compensation.
There is no such onus. If you don’t want to go through a paywall, feel free to find an alternate source.
Again, not my job to find an alternative source. If someone is posting about an article, the article should be readable, and not be behind a paywall. Don’t waste people’s time posting news about articles that they cannot read, because its behind a paywall.
Or maybe mark them as such, as part of the title, at the very least, so that someone can not bother to click on the post link if they know they can’t get to the article that the post is about because its behind a paywall. Or supply an alternative non-paywalled link as part of the summary.
That’s the onus I’m speaking of, being able to actually get to the article the post is talking about. Don’t waste another’s time.
I think the backlash they got is terrible but I can also understand why a business wouldn’t waste time selling products in a market that doesn’t want said products. That’s valuable floor space and other resources that could be used for something that will sell there. Target is not the bad guy here.
Every hotel I’ve stayed in—regardless of state—has had this problem.
And if you read the first two paragraphs of the article, you’ll see the law actually applies to hotels as well; the article just chooses to focus on the restaurant part. So maybe your state-directed ire is misplaced.
It was originally posted in World News, but was (rightfully!) removed for being internal US news and not world news. I screwed up - I think when I read anything about Gaza I start thinking about how it relates to the international war at large. Clearly though this story doesn’t belong there, and hopefully it fits here.
Hopefully someone can tell me why this wont work, but what if they Chinese mfg did a Tesla and sold cars online and then shipped them over as “Sold” vehicles. I would do something like this out of spite, but if there are thousands of orders the cost of shipping can greatly be reduced over one or two “special orders” from China.
There are so many ways american regulatory committees could call foul on this that it just isn’t worth it.
It just wouldn’t be worth trouble and risk of delaying further the export of Chinese EVS.
New Chinese electric vehicles exceeding international safety standards are already less than half as expensive as new American electric vehicles anyway, so even with a 100% tariff on top and whatever other taxes and fees, they’ll still be cheaper than new American EVS.
I lost my paid sick leave in one of these mandated sick time states, and because I had PTO that was deemed acceptable. I lost dozens of hours worth of paid time off, and now have to make up missed shifts on the weekend or risk getting written up. Oh, and now we can’t request time off without being physically in the building, so even if I wanted to use my limited PTO for sick time, I literally can’t unless I plan ahead my sickness.
Anecdotes so few and far between, meanwhile the anti-zionist movement is absolutely flooded with jewish voices. A narrative to dismiss protests, designed to resists hard evidence...like the article you are ignoring here.
