Yeah this is so incredibly sad, if I had come back to my car and realised that my own preventable negligence had caused my child not just to die, but to die so needlessly, so carelessly and so awfully I’m not sure how I would cope. How could you possibly go on with that on your shoulders? It would utterly crush me…and rightly so. That parent/those parents are awful awful people. This should not be anywhere near possible.
Edit: upon reading other comments, I’ve reflected on my own comment on the parents and have slightly changed my view; personally I think the gravity of the mistake outweighs everything else they have done in life no matter how good and so my statement on the balance of things is probably true, imo. However it is not something that needed to be said and nor is it a comment on the type of person/people they were up until, and after this.
I’m gonna add this here in case it helps anyone else.
A friend of mine uses a long dog leash to prevent her from forgetting her kid in the car. She uses the handle end with a loop and ties that end to the carseat and then attaches the hook end to her belt loop or purse. Now she can’t leave the car without acknowledging the carseat.
She just leaves the dog leash attached to car seat all the time and attaches it to herself when she puts on her seatbelt.
I thought it was a great solution that doesn’t involve removing shoes or buying a new car with seat sensors. Hope this helps someone else, or at least gives them peace of mind if they choose this method.

I interpreted your comment as the article not specifying which Schumer and you picked out a famous Schumer not associated with politics as a little bit of fun.
I could be wrong … I think many people have been dog-piling her comedy for a while and I think others thought you were dog whistling.
I mean, this is just coming from someone on the outside of this.
Amy Schumer, while she does have bad comedy, is constantly the target of reactionaries and chuds who think all women aren’t funny and point to her as justificatiom for their shitty worldview. The entire thing has been beaten to death for over a decade. Making fun of her, and by extension women comedians, was barely worthy of breathing slightly faster through the nose almost a decade ago, now making fun of Schumer is even more stale than her comedy.

Oh I agree there are plenty of women who are funny, and Amy Schumer is not particularly funny. But Amy Schumer is also the one that dumbasses point to to be all “hur dur waminz isn’t funnee because shoomer is bad!!”
We are all supposed to be supporting our kids with stipends from a trust account our daddies set up for us…. What, doesn’t everyone have a trust fund set up by their daddies?
So. That’s the point. Or one of the main points. At least, as far as the people actually setting republican policy is concerned.
They need cheap (read, unskilled, uneducated,) labor desperate for low-paying shit jobs. The easiest way to get that is to force young women who aren’t ready or very incapable of having a child to have children.
This creates a desperate single mother struggling to afford basic necessities; and likely a child without any financial support as they become working age adults- and similarly desperate.
You’ll also notice they’re all for the tough-on-crime stupidity that locks people up for shit reasons and then forces them to work in the only constitutionally-approved form of slavery.
That it just happens to affect more minorities is just a bonus.
I feel like you atleast have some wiggle room with electric cars, I cant imagine that it would be too hard to just rip out and replace most of the bs parts. Mostly cause you dont have a massive engine block to deal with, just wires.
With electric cars the Firmware does a lot more work than you think. You can’t just rip fuses like the old days. For a lot of the newer vehicles changes mean tracking or coding changes vs vehicle doesn’t start.
No but it also shouldnt be complex enough to need it, all the computer needs to do is control the motors and the shifter nothing else. I dont need cruise control, I dont need lane assist, I dont even need powered windows ya know what fuck the doors altogether. Everything else IE lights, air, radio can be controlled through a rather simple tertiary power system.
So how are you going to monitor and control the temperature of the battery pack so it doesn’t blow up in your face? How do you control charging rates? How do you pre-heat the pack when when it’s cold outside?
And those are the just the first things I can think of in less than 15 seconds.
I live in a desert so I dont really need to pre heat shit, seriously I can just not drive it for the two weeks its under fifty. There are prebuilt modules that can control charging rate, they aint fancy but theyre becoming common in my area due to hobbyists. As for temperature id probably just slap a couple electric thermometers to it and call it a day. Worst case for the temp I rip up the back seat and jam an abomination of a heat sink into it.
Frankly speaking id probably just start copying old 1980s and 1970s electric car design.
Anyways I have clearly not thought it through massively, just got the basics down. And most of my opinions come from the place of loathing new cars, they all suck. I drive a 91 cherokee, I know how to work on mechanical shit not electric. But I have messed with enough old electronics to know there is always a workaround, even if it is ass backwards and is a massive fire hazard.
You seem to assume I dont take cautious. I take plenty, ive got a couple work tables with burns and melted metal that say so. As well as a welding mask with a melted lense. I aint got no scares from it yet.
