FlyingSquid , in Golf Course Atop Ancient Native American Earthworks to Be Removed
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Somewhere on the campaign trail, Donald Trump is crying at the loss of a beautiful golf course.

ChicoSuave ,

Probably more sad that non-whites got their way.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

It was the combination. The best thing in the entire world was removed because of people who aren’t even white!

rockSlayer , in Strict rules about flying with dogs start Thursday, after months of confusion

dog might have to pass a blood test or be forced to quarantine for 28 days in a CDC-registered facility, the costs of which fall back on owners

That’s pretty bullshit. If they force it and the person can’t afford it, are they just going to steal the dog? If they want this to be effective at actually reducing disease, it should be provided at no cost. Even if it were free, the possibility of having your pet forced into quarantine while traveling is already a deterrent to flying with pets. Forcing the cost benefits literally no one.

Reverendender ,

Seriously, this is America. At least give them a Panera gift card

qantravon ,

You think the CDC can afford to eat that cost? Who do you think they are, part of the military? They don’t have the budget for that.

calcopiritus ,

They’d just give the dog to the police so they can practice their dog shooting skills.

rand_alpha19 ,

I hate to break it to you, but a lot of other countries already have policies like this for public health and environmental reasons, and the cost and quarantine arrangements always fall on the owner.

They probably either keep it in quarantine and then send it to the pound or put the dog down, unfortunately, if the owner isn't able to prove that the dog is healthy enough to enter the country. Unless they decide to cancel the trip and go back where they came from.

rockSlayer ,

Just because something is common, doesn’t mean it’s right. Of all the countries in the world, the richest one can certainly afford to provide it without cost.

brucethemoose , in Donald Trump falsely questions Kamala Harris' race as he appears at gathering of Black journalists

What’s really amazing is that he doubled down on this.

Trump cannot admit he’s wrong. That’ such an attractive personality trait, isn’t it…

crusa187 , in Millennials and Gen Xers face higher risk of 17 cancers than previous generations, study suggests

Pretty damning considering previous generations were doing things like playing in the DDT fog, or breathing in leaded gasoline exhaust. Dafuq are we doing to ourselves?!

gAlienLifeform , in No plan for US House to take up KOSA despite Senate passage
@gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world avatar

Wait until Democratic lawmakers start putting out campaign ads promising they’ll get this passed and "protect the children " if we elect more of them to Congress, that’s a pretty exquisitely awful feeling

On a related note, if every moderate Dem who wants to talk about how we need to secure the border and fund the police could go step on a lego and resign that’d be great

Glytch , in Ford trying to patent system that reports speeding vehicles to police

This is likely for new models of Interceptors so that cops don’t have to hold those heavy radar guns to generate revenue. Instead they can automatically ticket speeders while driving to the donut shop or their next victim’s house.

nifty , in Project 2025 to end policy work after Democratic attacks angered Trump

antlion , in Mother finds blood in Burger King meal after daughter takes bite thinking it’s ketchup
@antlion@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Pretty much every hamburger has blood in it. It’s an important part of the flavor. Actually Impossible burgers had to make GMO yeast to make hemoglobin, so their pea protein burgers taste more like meat.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

That red juice that comes out of the meat ain’t blood. It’s myoglobin, sometimes called “purge” and is a sign that your meat isn’t that fresh.

That also isn’t remotely close to what the article is talking about. The food was covered in human blood.

nokturne213 , in 'She called for help and we failed': Sheriff asks forgiveness for Sonya Massey shooting

Not only should the officer that murdered her be held accountable, but everyone up the chain of command should be as well. There is no way that they did not know this guy was an unstable loose cannon. His record goes back to when he was an MP.

I am no longer a supporter of capital punishment, but this case is making a strong argument for it.

FlyingSquid , in Strict rules about flying with dogs start Thursday, after months of confusion

You really shouldn’t try to fly with dogs anyway. They’re more walking-type animals. They can jump, but you’re not going to get from New York to Paris that way.

“We’re sowwy 👉👈😔” oh my God just fuck off and forgiveness doesn’t always deserve given. Just do better. Apologizing doesn’t wipe anything away. Just stop letting this shit happen all the time and knowing/thinking people will just half forget about it
