Their prices are so expensive. Corporate executives do whatever they need to in order to increase profits right now, even if it destroys a customer base.
Starbucks also often don’t have bathrooms anymore. Starbucks used to be a place you could go to, sit down, use a bathroom if you wanted, use the Internet, and then buy something reasonably priced if you felt like it, but also just be there without buying anything.
Now they want KYC through an App before you buy a $20 Latte so you can get a QR code in the App to use a bathroom, if they have one. The enshitification is real and then they are shocked-gasp, shocked!-that fewer people are there. “Why don’t they like the QR Codes?”
Having “mixed-race” (I honestly hate that term) kids, this is one of the things that I worry about living in the part of the South that I live in. They are still babies, but I worry about putting them in public school when it comes time. The direction that the country is going and the fact that people like this are so imboldned now is absolutely terrifying.
Damn, that’s a truly disgusting thing to say. Millions of completely normal average people in this state. I don’t care how bad a government is you can’t just go around saying you don’t care if the land burns, the land didn’t do anything wrong and the people don’t deserve to deal with that shit.

Maybe we should get Donald to release his SAT scores and college transcripts. Let’s see if he has any basis for complaint. I bet his scores are lower than hers.
It’s not like fires in California are a new phenomenon. The first one wasn’t their fault, sure. The second has shown them the risk and frequency of fires in the area they live. If they rebuild there again then yes, the consequences of any more fire damage or loss of property are completely their fault.
It’s not that easy. They don’t have much money, and that’s why they were living where they were. The city nearby where everyone works became too expensive after the Camp Fire (rent has almost doubled) and then COVID. It’s really hard. They would’ve had to start over completely somewhere else without nearby family, friends, or their jobs. It’s just not that simple. Towns burning down is a pretty recent recurrence.
