Harris, whose campaign says she has secured the Democratic nomination, led Trump 44% to 42% in the national poll, a difference within the 3-percentage-point margin of error.
National polls go beyond meaninglessness and into actual harm. The national popular vote does not elect the president, as we all should know too well. My vote in Illinois is worth far less than someone's vote in Wyoming. Your vote in California is worth far less than someone's vote in Alaska.
Unless a national poll weights responses based on state, and based on the electoral college results from states, it is completely misleading.
Well yeah, that would be a disappointment to anyone, he lost in a popularity contest by 3 million votes to Hillary fucking Clinton. He absolutely deserves to feel bad about it and I hope he remembers every day that he wouldn’t have won if it weren’t for the electoral college.
Just saw Oklahoma has one of the lowest voter turn outs in the nation. With Tulsa and Oklahoma city it’s more progressive than most people realize. We’ve just got to get out and vote and convince those around us to do the same. I know we have the numbers to win local elections.

Probably because you’re not allowed to vote if someone from your party isn’t running. We have a county sheriff race that was just decided by drawing a name out of a hat. Dems didn’t get a vote.
Lots of downticket races can be swung by a popular presidential nominee.
That said, Oklahoma’s awash in O&G money and its state bureaucrats are notoriously corrupt. At some point, the sheer volume of gerrymandering, vote caging, and criminal disenfranchisement needs to be addressed. Simply shouting at people to “GO VOTE!” when they’re getting handed broken machines and defective butterfly ballots and threatening robocalls isn’t helping anyone, least of all the candidates they’re hoping will win.
When the corruption is this comically obvious, it’s almost hard to believe. I mean… gold bars, really?
Anyways, good riddance and gosh I hope the plethora of others who aren’t being as cartoon villainy about it would also receive trials, convictions, and swift exits, but I know that’s a pipe dream.
For anyone curious, this bill is fighting against the conservative SCOTUS decision that basically said fossil fuel and other companies don’t have to listen to the EPA or follow environmental regulations if the company has a “reasonable”(undefined) argument against said regulation.
The Loper Bright ruling was that when taken on appeal they the courts no longer have to accept a reasonable agency interpretation over a reasonable (or more reasonable) interpretation by the other party.
And the rulings isn’t just for the EPA but all other federal agencies like the IRS, ICE, and the FDA. This bill is a double edged sword depending on who has the executive seat.
There’s at least a possibility of the executive having enough expertise to regulate reasonably. The courts don’t have the resources, but they’ve grabbed that power to themselves.
I mean that power was there since article 3 got drafted, and reaffirmed by the text of the APA.
The issue is the legislature not being able to pass laws due to the filibuster. This has lead to agencies being forced to take up their own interpretations to adapt language beyond it’s original meaning to attempt to complete their goals, like w/ the Loper Bright case.
Google said it decided to abandon the plan after considering the impact of the changes on publishers, advertisers and “everyone involved in online advertising.”
This is like a landlord scrapping plans to add curtains or blinds after considering the impact on peeping Toms and forgoing a lock on the back door after consulting with burglars.
Evil AND dumb. Stealing from kids who are having a hard childhood, and defrauding the government in a way that'll get caught by a standard audit. I hope she has to pay it all back too
Yeah, they’ve gotten to the point of saying the legislature cannot delegate it’s authority. If it stands it functionally makes modern government impossible. If Congress cannot delegate to the executive, and it cannot take on executive style decision like the Westminster system, the government just cannot function.
At a tense meeting with Sharon’s foreign policy adviser, Danny Ayalon, the British ambassador, Sherard Cowper-Coles, warned the offensive was a “major strategic mistake” that was undermining support for Israel among its allies.
If only this were true and there was any line Israel could cross to lose the support of western nations.
From a Politico article, we can see how the Russians are starting to talk about Harris. The Republicans aren’t usually far behind…
“Kamala with the nuclear button is worse than a monkey with a grenade,” Andrei Sidorov, the dean of the global politics department at Moscow State University (a once highly respected institution) said Sunday evening on state television’s prime weekly talk show.
