NoSuchAgency OP , in Philadelphia radio host who interviewed Biden leaves station | CNN Business

A lot of people have suspected that this was happening for a long time. Biden carries cards with him that tell him what reporters to call on, and sometimes says he’ll get in trouble if he takes anymore questions.

NoSuchAgency OP ,

This has been talked about a lot on conservative news networks. Of course, liberal news networks just shove it under the rug because it doesn’t go with their propaganda

While I largely agree with the sentiment, virtually every crime has an either/or of jail or fine, not just a fine.

Obviously, the fine allows them to stay out of jail, and reinforces the Sailor’s message.

catloaf , in The President Ordered a Board to Probe a Massive Russian Cyberattack. It Never Did.

The body of the article seems to undermine the headline. They didn’t generate a specific report, no, but they had previously studied this attack, and had included it in another report. And GAO accepted this, instead of making them redo that work. I’m not sure that this is necessarily a problem.

    Clusterfck ,

So does that mean this article is criticizing the government for NOT spending more money to create a second report that contained all the information from another report?

    catloaf ,

    Yes.

    girlfreddy OP ,
    @girlfreddy@lemmy.ca avatar

they had previously studied this attack

I don’t see that stated in the article. All I can find is this …

    • For its third, the board investigated a separate 2023 attack, in which Chinese state hackers exploited an array of Microsoft security shortcomings to access the email inboxes of top federal officials.

So DHS decided to rely on that info which never looked at SolarWinds …

    • Silvers told ProPublica that DHS decided the board didn’t need to do its own review of SolarWinds as directed by the White House because the attack had already been “closely studied” by the public and private sectors.

It’s not just radio interviews like this, it’s late night talk shows too. Everyone knows the questions and answers before they go live.

This journalists problem is that she didn’t have to actually USE the questions, she could have gone her own direction.

    givesomefucks ,

How it normally works is the presidents team says:

These are the topics we’d like to talk about.

And those are usually what gets asked about

This time the campaign team provided 8 questions. The host picked four and said she’d ask about those topics.

Then the campaign sent back that those four she had picked were the “approved” questions. So she felt pressured to ask them exactly as approved.

This was (I believe) the only Black owned radio station in the state, and Biden has attacked everyone that’s went against him in the last week. The NY Times can survive that. Small time local news radio can not.

There’s a lot of implicit pressure due to the power imbalance.

This journalists problem is that she didn’t have to actually USE the questions, she could have gone her own direction. It’s also likely they’re forcing her out for admitting they fed her the questions, making the Biden team look bad.

    dank OP ,

Is it standard operating procedure or not? If it is, then why would it make the Biden team look bad for revealing that they followed the norms.

It’s not unheard of for a politician to ask what will be covered in an interview. It’s not good practice to provide questions ahead of time, and it’s unheard of to let the interviewee script the questions themselves.

Most damning is the lack of confidence Biden’s own staffers have in him to rig the interviews in which he is supposed to be demonstrating his mental agility and acuity.

    FiremanEdsRevenge ,

Because the media is complicit and anything and everything the Biden administration does, whether good or bad, is still portrayed as bad. You just fell for their bullshit.

$56 billion to Elon is good because, based on his performance so far, he’s the smartest man in the world who will make the best cars and make Tesla the most important corporation on the planet.

Have those lawyers ever come up with something genius like the Cybertruck? I rest my case.

    Bookmeat ,

    TOModera ,

I don’t disagree, however I never found anyone breaking down the % of shares that Musk owns vs others. So I think it could be that Musk plus his buddies have enough shares to get the votes for the pay package, but only 51%, leaving 49% to be annoyed at the costs.

    Buffalox ,

Not quite, the case was started by a small minority investor.

    SeaJ ,

Small minority is even an understatement in how small the investor is. The suit was started by a metal head who owned less than 10 shares.

Seems like a fine should be more for being negligent in your donation sources, and so your campaign accepted a donation you shouldn’t have. It should be a whole different category when you are warned multiple times along the way, which sounds like the case here, and then go on to knowingly break campaign finance laws. I think revoking his church’s tax exempt status, if even only temporarily, would serve as more of a deterrent.
