I feel like threads like this also make a good case that people really, REALLY, don’t understand psychosis. Dude doesn’t just hear a whisper in his brain and star murdering. Those voices build and build and build until you literally can’t hear yourself think. Then you break, your mind isn’t your own, the voices have entirely drowned you out and you’re tired because they haven’t let you sleep in days and you’ve been off doing who the hell knows because you aren’t even in control anymore.
I've made a big effort over a long period of time, starting early, to make sure that my kids know that people lie, on and off the internet. That random strangers appropaching them online or in person should be considered with a healthy level of suspicion, and that people lie to you in order to trick you into giving them something you wouldn't otherwise want to give. Often, that's money (or something of monetary value), but it could be sexual, it could be getting you to commit a crime on their behalf (or taking responsibility for a crime you didn't commit), it could be your vote, it could be simply to exercise power over you.
People lie, and it is a disservice to avoid that fact.

These people are living in an alternate reality. That's the only explanation. Nobody could be this aloof.

That's the point! I love being disconnected from work! I don't care about the mission, just the money! I used to care about the mission, but that didn't pay the damn bills. You think I'm here because I want to be?

What I don't enjoy is being forced to drive 40 minutes to the office to do work I could do from home just to drive 40 minutes back to the house.
My gut reaction says the same thing. Often taking a heavy handed approach and completely knocking out a disease before it can take a foothold would prevent it from being able to mutate a resistance.
It could be (which would need to be backed up by proper studies and science, which hopefully this decision is based on) that early usage of doxycycline would be better than the alternative, which is letting the disease take hold, then trying to eliminate it after the fact.
I assume, like the morning after pill, this would be intended to be used in rare cases of unintended infection, and not as a common prophylactic. Such as in SA, or one off broken condom situations, or when someone is discovered to have an STD shortly after sexual contact.
Unless an antibiotic is incredibly specific to the target, it’s still going to kill other bacteria in your body. Those bacteria can become more and more resistant, and then those newly resistant bacteria can pass it on to more harmful bacteria.
It was already known that the Sumerians were calculating ratios of triangles and applying knowledge of degrees to circle calculations thousands of years before Hipparchus’ work. Whether or not this small stone tablet indicates that the Babylonians had a rigorous system in the same manner the Greeks developed, remains to be seen.
