Carl Weathers is an interesting contrast to Arnold. Arnold got his muscles by focusing on how he looked, on bodybuilding. Weathers developed his physique training for professional gridiron football. He played college football, then in the NFL (coached by John Madden) and CFL. Arnold used his unique physique as a way to get into movies without ever training as an actor. Weathers was studying theatre arts while playing college football, and finally finished the degree in 1974 just after retiring from pro football. He went on to get a master of theatre arts later.
Both of them pivoted extremely successfully to comedy later in their careers, with Weathers doing Happy Gilmore and Arrested Development, and Arnold doing his whole variety of comedy movies.
Also, good to know that Weathers loved this scene:
“Predator, the handshake. That’s iconic,” says Weathers, grinning from ear to ear. “The director shot that scene beautifully. And it’s a great movie. You put that movie in the theater today and it works just as well as it did back in 1987.”

Why ?
Nitter has already been struggling to keep up with the changes Twitter made on their side after 2022.
In January 2024, the Twitter API used by Nitter to fetch data from Twitter got shut down.
Without this, there is no way to run instances on the scale needed for the public instances that got listed here.
That’s unfortunate. But I still want to use Nitter !
If you want to continue running Nitter, you can do so using a normal Twitter account.
Do note however, that this cannot and will not scale, and is in a legal grey-area. Proceed at your own risk.

But there are some instances ?
Through he thankless work of some there is a tiny amount of instances left. These will be slow and can not expose RSS to prevent the huge volume bot attacks. The latter one also makes captchas and other anti-botting methods a requirement.
Still have this phone but it is getting a bit ragged, really just the battery. Might upgrade to Sony Xperia 1 V or 1 VI soon. Need the headphone jack and microSD slot.
Looking at the specs of this HMD phone, I would not recommend it. The headphone jack and SD card slot are about all this phone has going for it. It’s underpowered, especially for a phone running Android 14. I guess it wouldn’t be too bad for people who just need the cheapest Android phone they can get.
…There also appears to be a hole in the screen 🙃 (i loathe camera holes and screen “notches”).
