One of the cadavers in the cadaver lab operated by the school where I studied was a young (late 30s) male who died of a heart attack, the rest were all well above 65. The ventricles (spaces needed to pump blood) in this man’s heart had shrunk because his heart tissue had grown so large after using steroids. It’s important to know that steroids affect all muscles including the heart. People don’t usually consider the complications of prolonged use.

selokichtli ,

I think being a muscled bulky person is some kind of glorified obesity.

BilboBargains ,

I took a ten week course of testosterone at a slightly higher dose than therapeutic (something like 175mg in a weekly IM injection). The most surprising aspect was psychological. I was 40 but I felt like a teenager again. Even at this dose, muscle mass noticeably increased. Fortunately didn’t lose my hair or suffer any long term problems resuming normal T production. That risk increases with dose and duration on steroids. It only makes sense to use it at either low dose or short duration.

anon dislikes fat people

Anon is a fat person.

Kusimulkku ,

Anon is just building up mass

bionicjoey ,

It’s time to stop cultivating and start harvesting!

disgrunty ,

I know a guy who took T for gains at one point in his life. He says it felt great at the time, he had more energy and his gains were amazing but now he doesn’t naturally produce enough testosterone of his own and it’s fucking his joints up in old age. His bone density is closer to that of a woman in his age group and one of his hands is essentially disintegrating.

His words, not mine.

Kusimulkku ,

Serves him right for being a quitter

MindTraveller ,

Hey trans girls I found a new lifehack

JJROKCZ ,

Has he thought about starting taking T again? In my city there are tons of clinics specifically for T replacement therapy, they do blood tests, make up an IV or pill cocktail for you with all the hormones and vitamins you need, and get you on track health wise. They’re not for big gains, they’re solely for keeping you healthy

Azuth ,

Is there a specific name for that type of clinic? You got me curious now.

JJROKCZ ,

Normally it’s advertised as a men’s health clinic, one of the specific ones near me is Mantality (unsure on spelling) and Victory Men’s Health, I only remember them because they advertise heavily here. There’s probably better options but searching for men’s health clinics will probably get you where you want. Some of them are only peddling ED pills so a bit of research is needed to find a place with a real doctor performing real medicine instead of slinging Alex Jones pills

Chev ,

You can be a pumped soy boy. Many professional athleats are.

DragonTypeWyvern ,

Yeah it’s pretty common for Indian builders in particular. Bros just live on vegan protein powder, lentils, and soy.

olutukko ,

I love it how they use soyboy as insult when soy is literally full of protein

EmptySlime ,

They basically just heard that soy has phytoestrogens and that was all they needed. So now they think that eating literally anything with soy in it actively feminizes you.

olutukko ,

yeah it’s just too funny

Kusimulkku ,

We need to fight swolephobia

Why would you seek somebody’s advice if you’re not willing to take it? Sure, I get the idea of wanting to be validated, but you also have to accept being told what you’re doing is wrong.

jedibob5 ,

This reads as satire to me I think

Jerkface ,

No, it’s real. It’s a greentext. It’s real ಠ_ಠ

thefartographer ,

Yes, would you listen to this Jerkface? They speak the truth!

Klear ,

It’s still real to me, dammit!

NoIWontPickAName ,

I’m going to steal your hover car battery

SquishyPandaDev ,
@SquishyPandaDev@yiffit.net avatar

Yes this is satire but unfortunately people like this do exist. As for the why, they are seeking validation

sp3tr4l ,

It is very obviously satire of the fat acceptance movement.

They just inverted the genders and kept the rest of the analogy and lingo as similar as possible.

MindTraveller ,

Does… Does anon not believe there’s such a thing as fat men?

Letstakealook ,

Nobody says all men’s bodies are beautiful, healthy, sexy, desirable, ect. Lol, they would immediately and rightfully be told to stfu.

humbletightband ,

Because listening to someone is submission

zurohki ,

I’ve stopped giving my father advice on computers or electronics because he has never yet followed any of it.

He gets really upset that I won’t spend time researching things to give him advice to ignore, so presumably he gets something out of it but I’m not sure what.

Num10ck ,

time invested is his love language, time intentionally poorly invested must be love if its not annoying.

pkmkdz ,

Theory: your father just wants to spend time with you, technology being common topic

muntedcrocodile ,

The difference between advice and a command is u can choose to ignore advice.

dohpaz42 ,
@dohpaz42@lemmy.world avatar

You can choose to ignore commands too. And just as with ignoring advice, there will be consequences, but you always have the choice.

muntedcrocodile ,

The consequences of ignoring advice are at ones own hand tho.

RecluseRamble ,

Well, it’s just a fabricated story, so it doesn’t need to make sense. The real author may be plus sized and the doctor’s advice may be real, too, but I think there’s a simpler explanation than excess amounts of steroids.

dohpaz42 ,
@dohpaz42@lemmy.world avatar

This story may be fabricated, but the idea of the story is very real.

Illuminostro ,

Oh yeah, doctors are pussies who are jealous of meatheads…

Passerby6497 ,

Why would you seek somebody’s advice if you’re not willing to take it?

People are dumb as hell. Between working retail and working first line IT support, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had someone ask me a question and then immediately disregard the advice. I got to just expect idiocy when I was asked a technical question at work.

Thankfully I’m in a much better gig where people value my opinion.
