At this point, I think most people who qualify as merely conservative are Democrats. The Republican party in general has moved far right of “conservative” and well into “fanatical”.

They are the worst. In my state, the Republicans, in the name of freedom and free speech, are trying to push bills to require like three or five minutes of uninterrupted time for citizens who wish to speak at any public meeting .

Business still has to get done though. That’s why limits on the timing and number of speakers and the conditions which require notice and public comment are well settled and this is a solution in search of a problem. What they are really intending to do is give extremist members of the public a statutory right to perpetually disrupt public meetings and prevent business from being done. This is part of their campaign too prevent well-meaning people from having the energy for public service.

Weird hypothetical: what if he dies, but he’s still getting votes? My guess is that there’s a decent portion of his supporters that would vote for his corpse, maybe assuming it’s some conspiracy and that he’ll rise from the dead. I mean he wouldn’t be able to take the oath of office, but would congress have to invoke the 25th amendment if a dead person wins the election?
I’m sure he’d still get votes after dying, but not enough to actually be elected. If he died while the election was going on and won, I think the vice president would become president, just as if he’d died in office.
Yes, because they fully believe that 40% of the nation would exonerate him. So they want jury trials to be stacked with loyalists. There is also the possibility that they want to know who will make the decision so they can be coerced.
It depends on where the jury pool comes from. I doubt that 4 people in Manhattan or Brooklyn would want to exonerate him, much less 40%. But if they can pull from Staten Island as well, his chances of finding at least one goober who would be willing to ignore the facts and exonerate him get larger.
Long trials tend to have a large jury pool to select from. I was recently in the pool for a 7 week trial in Oakland and there were 150 of us to choose from. The defense just needs to find 4 Republicans to get into the jury and the case is over. You would assume a staunch Republican would try hard to get on the jury to help protect trump.
I think you underestimate how much New Yorkers (Particularly NYC) loathe Trump. Brooklyn and Queens saw something insane like 75% of the vote go to Biden, in Manhattan and then Bronx it was closer to 85%. And we can’t assume the remaining 15% are full MAGA, either, they may have just not liked Biden but were ambivalent to Trump.
Staten Island is where NYC keeps its Conservatives, it went for Trump 52 to 42.
Given the stack of damning evidence against him, probably. Jury’s adds an unknown quantity. So if you think you can win without on, you should not request one.
