Nice. A Thermaltake CoreV21 has a LOT of space inside for drives amd other hacks

eric5949 ,

I might move my server to my CoreV21 at the end of the year when I upgrade my desktop. Love the case but it’s a bit large ot have on top of my desk.

BCsven ,

It is huge. it fills the full volume of an Ikea Kallax opening, I have mine hanging out so wires in back against the wall have some room…plus some airflow. if the Kallax wasn’t against a wall it would slide back all the way. It has plastic feed about 12-15 mm tall (I think) feet are about 3mm too tall so I trimmed them. But on thingverse somebody made a 3d printer model for replacing them.

eric5949 ,

I know lol, I went from a little baby Silverstone itx case to this monstrosity. I love the modularity of it but it’s just so big. I don’t think I’ll go back to itx, it’s honesly a fucking pain, but I’m probably getting a slimmer case.

What is the device on the top left? The big SNES controller one.

Hyperkin Supaboy.

Let’s play Super Nintendo games on the go using the original cartridges.

rDrDr , to fediverse in 10 days after 3rd party reddit app shutdown, Lemmy's top 10 instances combine for a thriving userbase of 234,000

why are so many lemmy.ml users not active compared to .world or beehaw?

Zapafaz ,

lemmy.ml is very old, because it’s run by the devs of lemmy.

ghostBones ,

Beehaw has a number of news and politics communities. As one might imagine, there’s livelier debates and discussion and lots of new things to discuss almost every day.

I’m going to use the past tense here. Reddit was more than anything a news feed, at least originally. I suspect that their early days created a lot of momentum around politics, national and world news, since they are naturally bountiful sources of content.

Same. I’ve tried three different ways of using Lemmy and can’t see anything

Its working now. Im pretty sure this is because lemmy.world was breeched and they were cleaning up the instance at the time you saw the post.

sailing_bookdragon , to pics in [OC] Raised Bridges in Chicago

that is indeed a bittersweet story to this picture. And to make it even worse (maybe) to me all those raised bridges remind me of a greeting/salute that happen in old-fashioned rowing boats by raising all oars when passing by. To me it looked like if the city and/or those bridges are saluting that ship underway.

bluu OP ,
@bluu@lemmy.world avatar

Oh that’s cool, I didn’t know the raised oar salute was a thing, but that makes sense.

They sometimes have boats too tall to pass through along the river, but they just raise one bridge at a time to minimize traffic disruptions. Kind of a fun spectacle to see if one hasn’t seen it before

_cerpin_taxt_ ,

This was during the pandemic and protests, right? I remember downtown got shutdown for a few weeks.

bluu OP ,
@bluu@lemmy.world avatar

Yes it was. The city had a super eerie feel back then, didn’t it?

_cerpin_taxt_ ,

It was so weird! I went on a lot of cruises around the city back then because there was just zero traffic. Driving through downtown felt like 28 Days Later back then.

I work in 3D metrology and the consensus is right handed and Z up. Had no idea left handed existed!

kogasa ,
@kogasa@programming.dev avatar

This can happen if you accidentally pilot your player character into a singular linear transformation.

heeplr ,

How does projection work in your field? X, Y, Z get converted to X, Z and 2D screen planars have no Y axis?

Who invented this, why did she do it and where to send my official letter of complaint?

Pelicanen ,

I thought right-hand rule with Z up as thumb was standard in science? You usually project on the xy-plane, for example when calculating the distance to objects on a flat surface.

heeplr ,

I only know thumb = motion/current but now since you say, it’s clear: people used x/y for 2D logically but the 2D plane used to be paper. which is parallel to the earth surface (usually). Computer screens are perpendicular so Y points up, not away from you.

So this makes sense with paper, TIL. With computers, Z traditionally means depth.

yopyop ,

TBH I’m not sure I totally understand the question but projection is very useful to decompose the orientation of elements, like a cylinder that you just measured with a machine or a scanner. The coordinates and orientation (angles) can be projected in the three main planes XY, YZ and ZX.

heeplr ,

Sorry for being unclear, I was talking about screen projection. For actual visualization.

You can still make Facebook, you just need to register it on a domain they haven’t claimed. Then get sued and live in a box for the rest of your life while paying Zuck your bucks for trademark infringement.

chickenwing , (edited )

You can run a Friendica instance and act like you invented it. My family was impressed when I “made my own Netflix” with a Plex server lol.

Yeah, I have a little bit of that problem too. Then she says “I didn’t mean it exactly, just something like it”

104 stars is damn impressive… can’t compare github stars to low effort social media likes!

aidan OP ,

Yeah, although the thing that makes me the most happy is actually seeing stuff I made being used.

JustARegularNerd ,

What sort of stuff do you make?

aidan OP ,

Very random projects but my two most starred are a JS package for using the Google Translate API for free, and a JS project that scrapes a ton of traffic camera data from local government websites.

WhippetBowie OP ,

If only there was a way for me to post photos without having to come up with titles 😂

I’m not so good at wording

dojan ,
@dojan@lemmy.world avatar

A comma, quotation marks, or hyphens would’ve solved the issue.

  • Please feed me, eyes.
  • “Please feed me” eyes
  • Please-feed-me eyes

On the other hand, “Please feed me eyes” is a rather compelling title as is.

exscape ,

The first doesn't work, it suggests the dog wants "eyes" to give it its food. I think #2 is the best.
