This time last year I was 29 years old, had no house, $7,000 of credit card debt, and made $21 an hour.

Of course I’m unsatisfied. Because I know my hard work doesn’t pay off and all I’m doing is existing with no money or time left over for myself. I get this all the time because I tend to binge games over weekends when I got nothing else going on. I’ll give two examples that I remember the most.

One of the most prolific is Factorio. Seeing conveyor belts everywhere I go. Whether I’m awake or about to fall asleep I just constantly see conveyor belts as I solve non existent problems with the efficiency of said conveyor belts.

The weirdest was after Outer Wilds. I binged it for about 12 hours straight one day. You spend a lot of time orbiting around planets and landing on them. After I was done I was walking around my apartment and felt like I was “orbiting” a spaceship around my apartment. It felt super weird to walk. Felt like the floor was the surface of a planet and my head was a spaceship flying miles above it trying to land.

Honestly, I love windows 10 and windows 7 even more. I have had very little complaints with them and I miss 7 every day. But when support runs out for Windows 10 I’m switching. It seems every single day they come up with another stupid plan or “feature.” Whether it’s AI that’s barely helpful or forcing me to use their software and services, I’m exhausted with the obnoxiously aggressive tactics to get me to use them.

I get that. But at the same time speed running is stale as a concept. I feel like it’s just the nature of the genre since there’s only so much you can talk about. I love speed running but I could never watch someone stream it for hours on end.

Fortnite didn’t become a mega popular cash factory for Epic Games because of micro transactions. It became a mega popular cash factory for Epic Games because, regardless of your opinion of the game, they made a game that people actually want to play beneath the micro transactions. These companies make hollow games riddled with egregious micro transactions because they took the wrong lesson from the games that made it huge. Big games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch, and Valorant are pretty decent games that have micro transactions while so many games coming out are just micro transactions with a game attached to it. You can’t get away with exploiting people’s impulsivity if you don’t put in the effort to tie the carrot to the end of the stick. You’re just slapping a stick to people’s heads expecting them to chase it. It’s why, even though I will never give Blizzard another dollar for as long as I live, I still play Overwatch with the boys when the mood strikes.

I mean that’s a big oof for these guys. But it seems the people behind it weren’t entirely malicious as they were only interested in the game and not personal information. Hopefully this doesn’t have a huge detriment to the studio or the game. These developers have been doing a great job and I feel like they deserve our support regardless.

As a person that didn’t really enjoy the borderlands games, I had no idea this was happening and this is easily the oddest thing if read all week. Before I read the article I was confused but interested. Now I’m informed, confused, and interested. But hey, I’m glad they were able to do this with a game. I don’t even trust AI to give me factual information about common flowers found in my state. So why the fuck are people using it to make decisions about killing people?

I have a few theories.

Either these guys are dumb enough to believe AI is actually smart, which it isn’t. AI gives you information based off of what it knows. The problem is that AI still doesn’t have the capability to fact check itself. It has no idea what’s real or isn’t real. If it’s fed bullshit information it will provide bullshit answers. Which comes to my second theory…

They purposely fed it false information to get the information they wanted. Like confirmation bias but for AI. I’ve messed around with a bunch of different AI over the course of this new craze and with pretty much every single one you can get the information you want if you brute force your way into giving it to you. It’s not even that hard in some circumstances. Scale that up to an AI being used to come up with military targets and you got yourself a golden ticket to do whatever you want and just blame the AI. Which brings me to my third theory…

It’s bullshit. They are just blaming AI so they can say it isn’t their fault while also continuing to do what they are doing. It’s like saying your dog ate your homework. It’s a shitty excuse and no one will believe you, but now you can just blame everything on the dog and feel better about doing it again and again.

This whole thing just stinks of more excuses as to why they are literally committing genocide. The rules may be different, but you’re doing the exact same shit as everyone else that has done genocide. Maybe just don’t murder innocent people just trying to stay alive.

I spent over $4,000 on my PC a few years ago. She isn’t top of the line, but she gets the job done. I shouldn’t have to brute force my way into newer games because the optimization is so bad that my fairly decent PC can’t even get the game up to 60fps when it could play God of War at 100fps+ 2 years ago. I’m not gonna spend thousands of dollars for a new graphics card every couple years just because your game runs like shit. That’s almost as much money as I spend on my car payments.

Not optimizing games is just lazy game development. Back in the 90’s and 2000’s you HAD to make your game run well on most systems or you wouldn’t be able to sell as much as you needed to. Nowadays computers and consoles can do so much that optimization is unfortunately an afterthought.

I know you probably already hate me for mentioning it, but foot fetishes. It’s a very common fetish people have and I don’t think people should be ashamed of it. It’s not even the weirdest fetish out there when it comes down to it. I understand the stigma comes from weird dudes asking girls for feet pics in creepy ways and I feel like that’s reasonable. But most of us are just regular people just trying to live our best life. I used to feel comfortable telling women I’m with that I have a foot fetish and most of them were even down to give it a try. But as much as I hate Trump and think he should not be put on the ballot and should definitely be in prison, I do see how removing someone from the ballot could be a bad thing. In my opinion all it would do is set a precedent for removing people from the ballot just because they don’t like them. Is that why states are trying to remove Trump? Probably not. But if this is allowed I can clearly see other states trying to remove Biden from the ballot (If they haven’t tried already). And eventually it would just be another way for politicians to exercise this dick measuring contest they love so much by just removing each other from the ballot any reason they can think of. They already do absolutely batshit crazy things like gerrymandering to get votes. This would just turn into another version of voter suppression.

To each their own. I understand that dubs obviously miss things in translation and it is a valid argument. Sometimes the voice acting is trash. But at the same time I’m not gonna be a dick to someone for enjoying the same thing I do but different. A friend of mine that has never watched anime before we met has recently gotten into it and he watches dubs. We still have a lot of fun talking about the shows and he asks for recommendations all the time. The barrier for anime is pretty high for people that have never seen it before and the biggest way to turn people off of it is to tell them what they enjoy is wrong.
