Just use new pipe, The home page is just videos from your subscribed channels and there is no one click way to see an endless stream of shorts. You can still see them if you search them. Bonus: no ads.
Also, there is no algorithm-curated home feed on NewPipe. You’ll just get a simple feed with the latest videos from the channels you are subscribed to, which is a big plus in my book.
i did the reverse. deleted my facebook years ago but holding onto my instagram for now. i hardly use it anymore but it’s nice to keep in contact with old friends, but i’m on the fringe of deleting it
It’d be a luxury for me to delete insta but as a cartoonist that’d be just shooting myself in the foot. That said. I don’t have a FB anymore and only content post to both IG and Reddit these days. I do all my hangin’ here now :)
The file browser looks like windows. But the top bar is very Mac like, maybe if you put a start menu it would help. But to get a windows feel, you’ll need the start menu, application window bars, and the status info all at the bottom (default windows).
I’m hoping the great guys at .ml will approve my registration there. Setting up a backup account and would prefer it be there with all my stuff subscribed and ready, just in case.
I dunno. Given the way education is being gutted we could see more of this in the future. It’s a glaring symptom of what I call the prisonification of schools in the US. For a long time schools have slowly been getting less and less funding. Lots of students are hardly getting taught anything in the US. Heck, they even have armed guards in a lot is schools now.
I live in an area where houses start at 3 million dollars, and the school is surrounded by 10 foot high iron gates with iron spikes at the top. I do t have kids but no way I would send my kid there. I already hated school, I can’t imagine what it’s like having to feel like a prisoner every day
It’s not creating a “shadow account”, it is literally the same account. Threads is just a different frontend for what already existed with Instagram. And Meta would’ve been stupid, if they wouldn’t have use what they already have.
Oh for sure, but it does make me wonder how accurate the sign up reports are.
Does Threads report people who actually sign up and “claim” their “shadow accounts,” or does it count actual accounts and “shadow accounts?” The former is definitely a more accurate count, while the latter is basically numbers padding.
My understanding, it is reporting people who specifically elect to sign up for Threads using their Instagram account. On instagram profiles, they have been showing a badge with their Threads subscriber number that you only get when you elect to join Threads. This increases sequentially.
The highest number on the badge should give a good indication of how many Instagram users at least “claimed” their Threads account.
