Tap water in Brazil is supposed to be drinkable, but I use a filter anyways because I don’t trust the companies.

lvxferre , to asklemmy in Help: I'm dealing with hundreds of ripe plums
@lvxferre@lemmy.ml avatar

I’d be making jelly or wine like there was no tomorrow. Plum wine in special is delicious.

There’s a recipe here, if you want; it works for fruits in general, not just grapes. Note: most equipment can be improvised with some redneck engineering, for example my water lock is simply a piece of flexible tube forced into a U shape with an old hair rubber band, and filled with water.

You could also share the plums with neighbours. Bonus points if you manage to barter them for something else.

Garuda, love the invicibility with 4, constant power regen with 3, scalable damage to enemy level with 1, subsume 2 as you’ll have the mod that gains you life when you spend energy. Innate slash damage. Bump up cast speed, become unstoppable in a room full of enemies. I do love playing as Atlas with the free punch augment tho, but struggle to pay enough attention to rubble.

fossilesque , to asklemmy in Anyone have a good suggestion on how to block generated blog spam from google search results?
@fossilesque@mander.xyz avatar

Use another search engine. I stopped using Google for this reason. Here are some besides the obvious alternatives:

I highly, HIGHLY recommend kagi.com. They have a free version with limited searches but nothing compared to it and I quickly shelled out a fiver for the basic sub. It skips the bullshit and you can find everything fast. It also has an academic search toggle which is fantastic and a bunch of other things.

Of particular note for your query, check out: search.marginalia.nu

Subnautica (obviously?) - Female protagonist trying to survive long enough to figure out what happened to her sister on a frozen planet.

Gris - A very lovely and emotional story about grief.

Just to be explicit, Subnautica: Below Zero is the entry featuring the female protagonist, Robin, not the first game.

YoBuckStopsHere , to nostupidquestions in Do you think that Lemmy will last or will it die in a few weeks?

When Reddit forces “new Reddit” is when the real migration will occur. Reddit is dying more and more every day.

You can trust that it won’t happen in the next fifteen minutes, probably. I wouldn’t believe much further out than that.

I think the 3PA devs got about four months, right?

Reddit in January: we will not charge for the API. Not in the next few years, at least.

Reddit in April: charges are coming, but they’ll be totally reasonable and based in reality

Reddit in May: if you want to use the API, you should pay us 29x what we make from customers that don’t use it

marsara9 , to nostupidquestions in Will Lemmy posts be searchable on Google?
@marsara9@lemmy.world avatar

So I’ve been working on a solution for this.

As I see it Google and others are going to have a hard if not impossible time to incorporate the fediverse, and the fact that the same content can exist on multiple servers.

So I’m working on a search engine specifically build, for Lemmy at least. Where it’ll take you to whatever your preferred instance is when tapping on a search result.

I hope to have a MVP up and running in a few more days.

mookulator ,

Can’t emphasize enough how important this is for the growth of Lemmy. Many people I know only access Reddit through google searches.

marsara9 ,
@marsara9@lemmy.world avatar

Yep and I’m one of them. Go look me up on Reddit and I think I have maybe 20 posts over the 14+ years I was on the site. …joined Lemmy and immediately got frustrated that I couldn’t find anything. So I figured I take a crack at it. Especially since I couldn’t see how Google would ever be able to link me to my instance. Let alone make it easy to search the entire fediverse without having to write out every possible site, with new ones popping up every day.

teuast ,

Easier to find a Reddit post through Google than by Reddit search.

I have been pretty happy with tandoor recipes. It and mealie are pretty similar. It doesn’t have a dedicated mobile app, but it is a progressive web app, and ihas worked well on my phone.

I chose tandoor because it did something that mealie didn’t at the time I installed. But I don’t recall what that was.

+1

The recipe import feature is quite nice - it worked flawlessly for most of the websites i tried

There are some board game cafes in the states. And some of those overlap with legal weed :) but smoking indoors in public is still a no-go

RIotingPacifist , to nostupidquestions in Will Lemmy posts be searchable on Google?

Respectfully: Fuck that.

If you want to find the best instant rice recommendations on Lemmy, Lemmy should have a functional post search function, rather than me relying on a malevolent corporate entity like google to index all the content.

Search has gone to shit as the Internet has embraced social media sites, an upside of this is that wikipedia+Lemmy+key word search, mayas accurate as asking Google Bard or bing, and they can be built on entirety open tech.

drmoose ,

Cool rage but you dismissing search indexing is kinda hilarious. It’s not going away and it’s what makes the web. Would you rather have 3 big websites instead of indexed web?

TofuSauce , to news in Moderation / Rules of "news" community?

I would like fo the country to be added to the title (or as tags if that exits on lemmy), like [USA], [FR] or [World]. We are an international community so it’d help filter out the news of country you are not interested in.

I don’t think tags exist yet, but I do think I remember there being an issue on GitHub for them.

Gerula , to showerthoughts in Wouldn't it be nice if instead of just bars with alcohol, there were establishments for people to consume cannabis while eating, playing board games, and socializing?

No it wouldn’t. I’m sick and tired of the childish argument that if we accept alcohol then we have to accept or introduce other substance abuses because some find it more appealing.

Solo ,

Why shouldn’t we accept it? Its already poven to be better for you than alcohol, many people enjoy it, and a lot less deaths per year will be caused by wee than alcohol. Should people who don’t want to drink not be allowed to have a place they can hang out similar to a bar?

Gerula ,

Here we go again. People who don’t want to drink alcohol can hang anywhere and still don’t drink acohol. The unwillingness to drink alcohol or that “many people like it” are not actual arguments to introduce and use other health damaging substances rerdless of their nature and effects.

randon31415 ,

I just want constancy. Weed is less dangerous than alcohol. Ban both, legalize both, legalize weed but not alcohol, or keep things the way they are and drop the premise that it has anything to do with health and safety.

Gerula ,

That “less dangerous” is so subjective and unfounded that I’m not going to address.

On the other hand do you think it’s a good idea to think in extremes? Alcohol is rooted in our culture since literally thousands of years to get it out is almost impossible now but we can struggle for moderation. Weed as we find it on the market didn’t even exist 100 years ago. So maybe it’s a good idea to introduce it get it common as alcohol so in 50 years we will have the problems with alcohol and with weed on top. Smart.

Then we can go further to other drugs because we cant leave them outside. We have to be consistent and some people really like it.
