Most portable electronics today use some variation of lithium ion batteries, which when it becomes unstable can combust/explode if mishandled. However, devices generally have thermal management software and hardware, as well as multitude of other safety mechanisms like power management systems to handle charge regulation. Unless you intentionally puncture your batteries, they’re not likely to cause any problems on their own.
I guess the question I am asking is how do I know someone hasn’t placed a bomb inside as is now happening with other devices in the world? (See current news)
You don’t, if you have absolutely no way of accessing the internet or a phone network other than the phone you want to find, you’re out of luck and have to find it manually.
I don’t think it would be great for a pie hole on a gigabit connection. (if you have s slow connection then it’s good ofc)However there are use cases it’s good for. Print server, smb server, kitchen radio with Pyradio, retro gaming etc
That was the Nexus line, Pixel phones are all made by Google. Although Pixel 5 series and older use Snapdragon SoCs, while 6 onwards use Google’s custom Tensor based on Samsung’s Exynos. The major downside is IMHO the awful modem efficiency - if I want to keep mobile network on so that I can receive calls, my 7a is limited to 2 days of battery life if I’m lucky (and that’s with barely using the phone, just a few pictures).
Edit: and I forgot to mention that all Pixels have great third party ROM support, except if you want GrapheneOS, in which case you need to go for the recent ones that are still supported by Google.
I was so worried about this game being bad. Not that I didn’t trust them to make a game as good as the first Frost Punk, but more that some of the expansions for the first game were pretty meh. Still good, but nothing like the original experience of the game. Anything above a 7 is a great sign as it’s not a game for everyone. The fact that it got a decent amount of 8’s and 9’s is even better. I can’t wait to play it!
Being cynical and defeatist is a coping mechanism. Like racism, its a form of dealing with a continuously shitty situation while not addressing the real problem.
If you look at the small amount of people that drink 1000$ wine bottles for lunch while you‘re struggling to pay the rent, then you find the problem these cynics are unable to address.
Same. I mostly try to be honest with myself as I found that copium rarely is helpful. We‘re in this mess now and we can either sulk or get going. I choose to get going day after day. Hows that for aspirational statements? :)
I’m trying to utilize a couple of core 2 duo macbooks for the same purpose and it’s not going great. I have twice the cores and RAM but they’re stuck at 800 MHz, because of no batteries.
anyhow, very slow and issues with a lot of codecs I throw at them. try mpv without a DE/WM.
