PiJiNWiNg , to android in is there is any app that combine several reddit alternatives into one feed?

Not as far as I am aware, but yeah, something like how Trillian worked back in the day for IM would be great

extremeboredom , to linux in What Linux distro surprised you the most?

I was surprised by how well Garuda KDE just… Works. Many users warned me to stay away from the smaller distros like Garuda but I’ve had zero issues after 6+ months of everyday use on 2 devices.

teawrecks , to asklemmy in Which TV has a (mostly) ad-free OS and works with a few regular apps?

As others have said, the best option is to buy the TV you want, update it to the latest firmware, then disconnect it from the internet and use your own external devices.

This is because the companies making the best display technology (much of it proprietary) at an affordable price have no incentive to sell “dumb” variants of their TVs when the “smart” version makes them way more money.

3sothoth , (edited ) to coffee in Anyone tried Kopi Luwak coffee?

I probably had some kopi luwak, twenty years ago, in a restaurant. James Hoffmann explains why I say I probably drank some. Even twenty years ago, (“someone told James that”) four times as much KL was sold than was produced. Hoffmann also suggests that it would be better for you to eat and process your own green coffee in the same way that civets do. That way you aren’t contributing to animal cruelty, and you can be certain that you’re really drinking coffee that has actually been pooped.

My memory of the kopi luwak is, that it was unusually smooth and gentle. It was a fine cup of coffee, supremely inoffensive, perhaps a little boring. Compressing the flavour experience that is coffee into a one-dimensional line for easy comparison, the probably kopi luwak I tried was, I don’t know, mid-range. Very drinkable. Beats diner coffee. Doesn’t hold a candle to most well-made specialty coffee.

NutinButNet , to nostupidquestions in Think my radiator temperature thing is broken.. any ideas?

Is this for your home’s water heater? I was initially under the impression this was going to be for your car.

If this is your home’s water heater, it is possible that by turning it off it did turn out. Some water heaters have a pilot light that needs to be lit and by turning it off, you extinguish that flame and it needs to be relit. It depends on each water heater in the manner how you will relight it, but most will have you either turn the knob to a certain point and hold a button while you light it using a match or they will provide another button you press which creates a spark which will hopefully light the pilot light. You need to be watching the pilot flame as you do this to see if the flame sticks. If it does, then you can move the dial to an on position to have the flame fully light up, almost like how a gas flame lights up on your gas stovetop.

All this is general but these directions in between are more direct depending on your specific make and model. The best thing you can do is to either watch a YouTube video on your specific make and model to see how it’s done or look up the manual online. Also, in most cases from the many I’ve seen, they should have these written as directions on the side of the tank. They can often be a bit hard to read and follow for the first time, so be patient and don’t be afraid to re-read sections again a few times to be sure they’re saying what you understood.

There’s no much risk involved here for the most part if you’re safe, but the taking time part is mostly because I’ve had issues pointing the dial to the correct position and it creates confusion and frustration for me. But taking time to re-read it before acting helps reduce those occurrences.

true, although I can’t be anonymous i guess. And i can’t post about places that are closed, and I can’t post reviews about products that are no longer sold

Dogs are better than people. Just saying, if they think they’re human, you should tell them they’re a good boy. To help with the esteem issues… ;)

mb_ , (edited ) to selfhosted in Caddy and forgejo

There are a few ways to do it, but you don’t use caddy for SSH.

 • host SSH on port 22, forgejo on a different port. Expose both ports to the internet
 • host SSH on a different port, forgejo on port 22. Expose both ports to the internet
 • host SSH on port 22. Forgejo on port 2222. Only 22 exposed to the internet. Change the authorized_keys user of the git user on host to automatically call the internal forgejo SSH app

Last option is how I run my Gitea instance, authorized keys is managed by gitea so you don’t really need to do anything high maintenance.

~git/.ssh/authorized_keys:

command="/usr/local/bin/gitea --config=/data/gitea/conf/app.ini serv key-9",no-port-forwarding,no-X11-forwarding,no-agent-forwarding,no-pty,no-user-rc,restrict ssh-rsa PUBLICKEYHASH

/usr/local/bin/gitea:

ssh -p 2222 -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no [email protected] "SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND="$SSH_ORIGINAL_COMMAND" $0 $@"

127.0.0.14 is the local git docker access where I expose the service, but you couldn’t different ports, IPS, etc.
