I’m relative sure SQL is a backronym for Sequel, and Microsoft had to change the name and wanted to keep the pronunciation. But ess Quall is my favorite so far, that’s amazing
The original name SEQUEL, which is widely regarded as a pun on QUEL, the query language of Ingres,[14] was later changed to SQL (dropping the vowels) because “SEQUEL” was a trademark of the UK-based Hawker Siddeley Dynamics Engineering Limited company.[15] The label SQL later became the acronym for Structured Query Language.
Now that I think about it, using a website that could gain access to your playlist and move around the different songs to new playlists (based on genre/mood/etc) would be a godsend…
But if you’re travelling in the opposite direction of the rotation of the earth - east, I think; I’m having a hard time visualizing which way that would be - wouldn’t you be moving more slowly than everything around you?
I THINK it would be everything moving slower around you. Rather than you moving slower than everything.
My hypothesis is that going opposite of rotation is that it would actually add more time than going with as you now add the time you get from things moving slower and you moving fast. We are “not in motion” while in this vehicle. Everything around us is.
Our “not being in motion” is excluding the minor arm leg movements.
Yeah, then we could maybe figure out what is the microbial cause of seal finger. But seriously, how do we not know what causes seal finger? Can’t they just culture it from a seal at an aquarium??
In 1998, Baker, Ruoff, and Madoff that the organism is most likely a species of Mycoplasma called Mycoplasma phocacerebrale.[7] This Mycoplasma was isolated in an epidemic of seal disease occurring in the Baltic Sea.[8]
It’s not that we don’t know what causes it, and it can be cultured from seals and has been. It’s that in order to empirically and categorically say in any way that matters that the organism is definitely the cause of seal finger…
You would need to be culturing a person infected with the disease from whom treatment is being withheld. Either against their will or with their “consent” wouldn’t matter. As we know what the disease can lead to, the ethical course of treatment is clear: a bunch of culture ruining antibiotics injected into you. Right away, without delay.
Because asking or even taking advantage of someone declining treatment to assess and write the confirmation study that says “Mycoplasma phocacerebrale definite cause of seal finger” goes against a lot of ethical science limitations.
This is what makes the donating the affected limb of someone who never got care for science post-mortem also work as both a neat joke and ethical loophole. Researchers could accept that gift, ethically.
Yeah I’ve pretty much accepted that kbin.social is just gone at this point. I also owned a community there (/m/ai). I didn’t have any spammers appear, but it eventually just died since spam ruined the rest of the instance.
The signs were already there months in advance, but most of us stayed on the instance in hopes that the dev would eventually take up one of the offers to help maintain the instance. Was fun while it lasted, and was the best alternative to Reddit for sure as a software. I don’t even know how Ernest kept up with development during the initial Reddit exodus lol.
Honestly, I’m not impressed with Lemmy so far and I don’t really vibe with mbin for personal reasons even though the software is great.
This whole kbin story has just pointed out a lot of flaws in the Fediverse as a whole for me. I still like the idea, but the execution needs improvement.
Sue-dough & s-s-h here. Can’t speak to zsh yet, haven’t actually talked about it w/ others yet. How about /etc/? Sometimes I call it “e-t-c” but others I say “etsee”
When I have this issue (and that’s quite often), I refresh the mirrors, do sudo pacman -Syy and then -Syu. Idk how to refresh GPGs so never tried it but that may help too.
