JackbyDev , to fediverse in Thoughts Around KBin's Current Status and the Importance of Community Migration Features

I’m going to say it, community migration is probably more important than user migration features. While there is no official user migration there are scripts to carry over preferences and subscriptions to a new instance. Easy peesy. But community migration is a much more important concept if only because communities are what make Lemmy great.

Mirroring content is probably easy enough, but I don’t know if we’ll ever see a way for the ActivityPub spec to say “This Group is actually now this Group” or if that would even be a good idea.

Locking the previous community with a post to the new one usually works quite well

He’s not just an asshole. He’s a sociopath.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a fake smile like this. Notice how only his mouth moves into the shape of a smile, where a normal person sort of smiles with their whole face and a number of different facial muscles.

This is legit terrifying.

Ippei Tambaataa

Just over 2k now, which is great but a bit surprising given the content. It’s improvised electronic audio generated entirely with a Korg MS20 rev2 synthesiser from around 1979.

It’s not everyone’s cuppa, but the synth is a type that is similar to the world famous Minimoog. Even so, it’s about as far away from that as possible in terms of sound. If the Moog is smooth and creamy, the Korg is knarly and vicious.

What makes it interesting is it’s ability to do unusual things. It has more in common in this sense with modular systems than the Minimoog.

Ok it’s nuts, but also fascinating and to me and two thousand or so other weirdos, captivating.

If you like it, I recommend large speakers to really experience the depth of sound from this classic machine. Just be careful with the volume.

You can run a system as a VM on Guix, so yes, that. It’s a type-2 hypervisor, as it uses QEMU. Pretty sure this also works for NixOS.

Doom is almost always my answer. Especially with the fresh Nightdive rerelease!

Anyway I’ve been playing EDF5 again online, and Kaido Racer on the PS2, a lovely street racing game about the mountain roads of Japan.

Small world ia a scam! When I was on vacation in London my father and I heard the “fact” on the tourist bus that you couldn’t be on Picadilly Circus more than 43 minutes or so before meeting someone you know. We sat there for over an hour and didn’t see anyone.

But then again, we were at an airfield for a pilot meeting earlier during that vacation. And it turned out that the guy who owned that airfield was stationed in Germany at the same town and at the same time my father lived there as a child.

I was in Ireland with my parents in 93. My parents had been out to the pub and met another Dutch couple that stayed at the same hostel.

At morning we joined them at the breakfast table and introduced me: ‘this is our son, x’. Now you must know that my name is quite uncommon, as it is the only way I’m in the 1%.

The guy said, I once met a boy with that name in Yugoslavia, in 84. He had helped that boy get back his swimming shoes from the bottom of the bay. That boy was me. If my name was more common we’d never have known that we met before almost a decade ago.

That’s one. The other one was in Africa. Somewhere in the middle of Benin I met a couple from my country. We chatted a bit an the guy was an architect who studied African architecture.

As my home town has a museum in African architecture I asked him if he knew that. He said, of course, we live in the same town. Turns out they lived just around the corner from where I lived. We were practically neighbours.

Do people try to contact coinbase for reasons other than “my 2FA doesn’t work anymore and I’m locked out of my account”? My only exposure to people trying to get help for it was while I worked for a common 2fa company, but you can’t really blame them if you didn’t save backup codes before getting a new device…

Hearing Snow by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers while my mom is folding clothes (thats a very specific one). I have no idea how old I was exactly but I remember it vividly. The funny thing is that I didn’t understand a word of the song as german is my native language. Recently I stumbled across the song again and suddenly, as if steuck by lightning, I remembered this weird mundane situation as if it was yesterday. The human mind is so weird.

Kolanaki , to piracy in Pirating VR games
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

For PCVR games, it’s exactly the same as normal PC piracy. You can add them as non-steam games and then tick the “show in VR library” option so they actually appear in the VR shit.

For standalone, on the Quest 3 (which, BTW, can also do PCVR), there is an app called Rookie Sideloader that can pull (nearly) anything from the official store without paying for it and then it’s just installed as an unknown app instead of showing up in the default app list.

Sasori323 OP ,

Great, thank you. So you just add them to the steam library, that’s what I suspected honestly. Where can you find the option to show in VR library?

Fiivemacs ,

I must be one of the few that launches them from the actual directories they are installed :/
