RightHandOfIkaros , to nostupidquestions in Why are people downvoting the MediaBiasFactChecker bot?

Lemmy users are super allergic to bots of any kind, so I would imagine most of them don’t look past the fact that its a bot and don’t care what it does or what it is about. Its a bot and bots are always bad in their eyes.

For work. And that’s only until I can get my workflow converted fully

DrBob , to nostupidquestions in Why are people downvoting the MediaBiasFactChecker bot?

I blocked that annoying piece of shit. It added nothing to discussion.

really depends on the context. if i’m showing off my cosplay, no. If I’m receiving an award and posing for the camera – yeah my looks aren’t relevant.

I’m not.

pineapplelover , to patientgamers in Do you still play couch coop nowadays? Which games do you recommend?

My sibling plays Ultimate Chicken Horse way too much for their health. I’m a fan of Duck Game, Castle Crashers, and Enter the Gungeon. I’ve also licked up Heave Ho and Pico Park, however those are more for party games for like 4 people or more.

Comment sections are for comments.

This is the fediverse. I feel like these kinds of bots should be emitting something other than a comment, just a generic "metadata" might be good. Then work to get that adopted by the various platforms.

Because comment sections should be a place for people.

Aatube ,

to be fair, metadata would be hard to federate. here at mbin we have attached media with real alt text separate from the post body and lemmy still doesn't have that

Pyr_Pressure , to youshouldknow in YSK most US states assign their electoral college votes by the state's popular vote

Do states have more or less electoral votes based on population?

Like would California have more say in who becomes president than Idaho?

Or is it that stupid system where each state has an equal amount of votes?

Croquette ,

Inbetween. Each state has a number of voters for the electoral college, but it is not proportional to the population of the state. A less populous state vote is worth more than a populous state generally.

That is why Trump became president while losing the popular vote in 2016, and swing states are so important.

Dark_Arc ,
@Dark_Arc@social.packetloss.gg avatar

It’s assigned proportionally but each state gets a few extra votes to give smaller states more weight.

Originally, states would then award these proportionally, but some state got “smart” and realized that if they gave all their votes to the most popular candidate they’d get more attention … other states soon followed suite and Madison went and died before he could fix this abuse of the system (which bothered him).

Yes because I am cute. Actually. That’s my aesthetic.

Edit: I see a lot of people calling it infantilizing, but it’s my personality. And I’m older than other people on here have said they are.

Why are you running servers with a data store on a partition that you mount on multiple operating systems?

I like that they get downvoted because it puts the comment at the bottom. Knowing it’s there, I can scroll down to check it if I want to see what it says. It’ snot like downvoting it hides it or affects some long-standing karma number.

Brkdncr , to nostupidquestions in What is the anime obsession with maids?

Live-in maids are pretty common in parts of Asia.

Years ago I looked at a newly built apartment building and it had a small bed, toilet, sink in a small closet/room for the maid. Weird and creepy.

Because I don’t trust some internet rando’s bot to have my best interests in mind.

hitagi , to linuxmemes in Why Are You Staying On Windows 11?

I kind of like having Linux on a VM in Windows. I only use Linux for things like web browsing or writing papers which a VM can do. For gaming, I prefer Windows to avoid any problems I might encounter (like anticheats).

This gives me a near-ideal set up with access to both Linux and Windows. I just wish my Linux VM can do 120+hz and GPU passthrough.

Midnight1938 ,

Did you consider dual booting?

hitagi ,

Yeah but I think Linux VM is more convenient for me as I don’t have to switch back and forth between operating systems. I can have both operating systems in front of me at once.

I can keep the VM running while playing games with my friends on the Windows host.

Midnight1938 ,

You should consider the wsl hypervisor then
