You are right that the terminal is a really useful tool. But for the average user, the terminal is intimidating.

No other OS works like Linux in term of UX. You can use iOS or Windows without a command line all your life.

As this post describe, it is next to impossible with a Linux Distro.

For the people that want Linux to be mainstream, this is an important hurdle to go over.

Linux Mint would be an OS built on the Linux Kernel.

Some people have a hang-up on calling any Linux kernel based OS “Linux”, because unlike its competitor, there is a lot of OS flavors.

You have “main” OSes (Debian, Fedora, etc.) and derivative OSes based on these “main” OSes.

Linux Mint for example, is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian.

But VPNs nowadays are extremely easy to setup. If for a tiktok user that means that they can access tiktok even though it is bannes in their country, they will follow a guide to set up a VPN, or a friend will show them.

An issue with mattermost is that some useful features are behind a paywall, like group calls.

I’d go with nextcloud since all their features are included regardless of if you pay or not

Open-source does not equal free. There is probably a way to circumvent their paywall, but on their website, self-hosted free version has a limit of 1-on-1 for calls.

If you want a group call, you need to pay, even if you self-host.

I just installed Win11 on a work computer last week, and there were at least 3 screens of the installer trying to push o365 or one drive.

Then you have the start menu where if you look for a software, 90% of the menu is an ad trying to push you a software. At the bottom, you have your search results.

And then there is the pop ups on the bottom right of the screen trying to sell you Candy Crush or another bullshit software.

For me, my inner voice is muted when I am focused on something, like working on a task or playing a video game.

The second I stop focusing, the inner voice starts.

If I do nothing, it’s usually a song that is stuck in my head.

As for other senses, for me, it is the same as focusing on a task. When my senses are activated, the inner voice stops.

Gsuite workflow is terrible. You can’t copy paste files in drive because fuck you.
