A phone plan with a phone. You pay more over time and you get stuck with a contract.

Buy a phone and get a plan from a MVNO. Your monthly plan will be better and cheaper. Also since you own the phone when a better plan appears you can just switch.

try soaking one of then in bleach overnight. That might destroy it but it also might remove all the colors including logo and solve your problen.

if that worked u can do the same with the other tshirts

superduperpirate , to asklemmy in Men in their 40s, what’s one piece of advice for men in their 20s?

Don’t rawdog a rando

Wearing a rubber every time unless you’re in a committed relationship greatly reduces your chances of an STD or an unwanted pregnancy.

BurnSquirrel ,

STDs are sooo much more common than people think because often they don’t even know they have them.

When grayjay first came out I was heavily downvoted for saying this, and I’m probably going to be downvoted again, but although grayjay does look pretty good, I’m never going to actually use the app because it doesn’t have light mode, which I use because it is easier on my eyes. It is weird that for such a longstanding app, they couldn’t just add some other styles, but oh well.

As a dev, I can assure you that all those small details arn’t as easy to implement as you might think. That one would probably require 1 or 2 hours of work

To clarify a misconception, the pregnancy test was not running Doom. The guy who did it connected the test's display to an external device which was actually running the game, it was just displayed on the pregnancy test's screen.

Track_Shovel OP ,

True but some of the hacks were nuts

Odo ,

It was a replacement screen, too, not the built-in display.

saltesc ,

So it was basically a pregnancy test case mod.

FeatherConstrictor ,

:( aww mayn

ChaoticNeutralCzech ,

The device was not running the game either, just a video of it - but people have connected this (very standard) display to Raspberry Pis and even any Linux machine over HDMI.

jaybone ,

So was she pregnant or not?

qarbone ,

Yes. And it was a healthy demon.

pingveno , to asklemmy in What things would you standardize globally if you were the Supreme Leader? All violations punishable by death.

Recipes in concrete metric units, preferably mass instead of volume. Recipes come together incredibly quickly when measuring out ingredients can just be dump-tare-dump-tare-dump instead of trying to get sticky ingredients like tahini out of a measuring cup.

More torx screws. There are apparently some uses for phillips, but torx are criminally underused.

Unbecredible OP ,

That’s a good one. I feel like either torx or square drives should be chosen and all consumer facing screws should be one of, say, 10 sizes.

And you can apply for a permit to use other sizes, but even that is gonna cost you like a couple days in jail.

NauticalNoodle ,

I would add that all recipes must use the common professional standard format with ingredients and their amount at the top, preferably alongside the required equipment followed by the estimated prep time and cook time followed by the consecutive step-by-step listed instructions.

My brother was getting one of meal subscriptions akin to Blue Apron and there was never any rhyme or reason to the format, content, or layout of the included recipe instructions. -An egregious oversight.

I also have heard that when torx heads become stripped they turn into hex heads. I’ve never investigated this claim, though.

I use the Tubular fork as well, love it, however the dev has life things that slow down how fast fixes get merged in ☹️ in the meantime I either watch Nebula (or use Freetube on my HTPC as a backup, they tend to publish a fixed build ridiculously fast).

My fav Grayjay feature has to be “polycentric” comments on Nebula videos, pretty cool to discuss with other Nebula subscribers seeing as the official app has no social features

lemmefixdat4u , to nostupidquestions in I want to donate old work shirts, but I don't want people to be mistaken for employees there. How do I remove the logos?

Cut them up and use them for rags, or deface the logo with permanent marker before donation. Clothes that are not fashionable don’t sell. They end up in huge bales. A few are sold to clothing recyclers (cut up for industrial rags or shredded for felt), but most end up in countries where they disrupt the local garment economy, become landfill, or are burned, contributing to air pollution (do search for “clothing in Atacama desert” or “donated clothing in Africa”).

I only donate quality items in good condition that I would buy. Cheap clothing refills my rag bin. If you’re really feeling guilty about not donating used clothing, the best way to assuage your guilt is to become a resale store customer.

I think a lot of the recent AI tools could be fun as toys to play around with, but I’m just very uncomfortable using tech that exploits everyone who doesn’t own a huge megacorp.

Also, emacs as a replacement for my graphical editor. It feels like there isn’t a “neovim” style modern version, and there’s a steep learning curve to configuring it.

Also, Wayland. Come on, Cinnamon. ;_;

dragonfly4933 ,

If you want something similar to vim or neovim, but without all the fuss learning how to configure it and install plugins and such, you could try helix.
