Still not what? Britsh?

Paradachshund ,

Can’t you read? Brasterisktsh.

Btsh, Brtsh, Brrtsh, Brrrtsh, Brrrrrrrrrtsh all match the regexp. (British doesn’t match regexp or glob though)

I remember the frame time issue happening but it fixed itself and I can’t remember the cause. Try changing the refresh rate of your monitor, it might kick something which fixes it.

Performance should definitely be mostly on par with Windows.

Power to you!

If you can, please consider uploading them to Usenet as well.

Wahots , to asklemmy in Books - Do you prefer Paperback or Hardcover?
@Wahots@pawb.social avatar

I love a good hardcover, but tend to flip between hardcover, paperback, and kobo e-ink. I try to buy used books where possible just for the environmental impact. They are often less expensive, too.

Nice reversal of gender stereotypes over which one comes back from the pub every night bladdered.

Nibodhika , to selfhosted in Confused about Podman

Use docker, once you’re comfortable with it then switch to Podman. Podman has a few more complications, so it’s easier to get the base thing running using the most common tool, and work from there.

MightyCuriosity OP ,

Yeah this might be the smartest way. I thought I could do both at the same time but it’s probably more than I can chew.

tmpod ,
@tmpod@lemmy.pt avatar

This is a good suggestion. Docker is more mature and has more resources, so it’s better to learn the ins and outs of containers. After getting comfortable with it, you can move to Podman and have a much better time tackling its peculiarities regarding permissions and rootless.

I used Docker for years and only recently decided to give Podman a try, porting my Lemmy instance to it.

menemen , to asklemmy in Why is music so loud in restaurants? (Serious)

In some crowded places they do it, so it doesn’t feel like a central station.

Communication: try it sometime.

electricprism , to linux in How is RISC-V better than arm for Linux?

Yes. Less blobs than ARM. I’m not even sure if some RISC-V have any blobs – someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Also getting cockblocked by proprietaryisms is bullshit. HDMI is a Circle Jerk of capitalism controlling competition and the market for self preservation.

Timely_Jellyfish_2077 , to asklemmy in Why is music so loud in restaurants? (Serious)

In India, restaurants generally play smooth music at near audible levels.

didn't the 8 just come out. I recently got a 7 to save some bucks.

Cavemanfreak ,

The 8a came out this spring. The 8/Pro was last fall I believe.

Auli ,

Yes a year ago. Kind of works that way.

Cavemanfreak ,

For the “regular” versions it works like that. Release in October. For the “A” versions it has been a different story. That’s been more like every 11 months; since the 5A it has moved from August to May.

HubertManne ,

ah yeah. I actually just got a 7a. honestly I find these short upgrade times to make it harder to pay attention to the stuff at all. Its like eating at a place all the time as opposed to eating out rarely and being hungry to experience that favorite place when you can.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. My mom had ankle surgery earlier this year and used one for a few weeks while recovering.

Theharpyeagle ,

Definitely this, and maybe a motorized scooter for days that really require you to move around. Also check the conference site or call them to see if they offer any accommodations. But, OP, you’re probably not gonna be making it 15-25 miles a day no matter what you do. Be honest with yourself and others about your limitations and don’t push yourself too hard. Have a backup plan to get around if you need to.

From what I’ve been told, these things are terrible on your knees if you put your weight on them. So think of it as a crutch, not a skateboard.

YMMV.

tyler ,

You can pretty much sit down completely on them. I had ankle surgery and rode down the street all the time on it lol.
