My attempt at a stupid question is: Do you need an account on every instance that hosts a community that you want to interact with (e.g., upvote, post, reply)?
So I have seen the phrase “it does not matter on which Lemmy instance you register, and you only need to register on one". All Lemmy instances show identical posts and comments, and let you follow all users and communities.” in many guides. This makes me think I should be able to upvote and reply on any post or community as long as I have an account on a federated instance. However, atleast while using the Liftoff! App, if I try to upvote a comment from a post link via beehaw while logged into Lemmy.one or Lemmy.world for example I get an error “this post was linked via beehaw. You are not logged in there.”
This really seems to indicate that I need a beehaw account if I want to interact with posts there and contribute. This in turn makes it seem like I’ll need an individual account on every instance that has a community I want to be a part of. This would be very problematic especially because many communities have an application process which can filter you out simply if the instance gets overwhelmed.
This is probably obvious, but I just try to avoid buying games unless I will play it immediately. I KNOW I will play FF16 after I finish up Zelda, but I still haven’t bought it.
I also don’t look at steam sales unless I’m looking for a new game to play. I know too many people who buy games cause it’s on sale but never plays them

i noticed this too. i watched multiple videos about how big tech is ruining the internet and i always comment telling folks to come to the fediverse, but whem i came back later to check on it i noticed my comment just want there. maybe a bug or maybe google is trying to stifle the open internet?
Minecraft server, a pingvin share site for myself, tubearchivist, pihole, pivpn, 25mb video compressor with a script and incrontab along with the same thing but for GIFs. I think that’s most of the list
Such news further radicalizes me against GAFAM and motivates me to embrace open source alternatives even more. Thank you, GAFAM, for destroying yourselves.
I found it would constantly jump to the top when reading/scrolling as new content was added, so I found various apps to be a much better experience. I guess that’s what happens with such a jump in new lemmings coming online!
I understand the scrolling/jumping problem was supposed to be addressed in 0.18.1, which is great!
You have to be a tribal member to get casino money. You can’t just roll up and say “I’m a 16th Cherokee, where’s mah money?!” Some tribes have even started to disenroll people, which has led to some ugliness.

YouTube comments have always been a veiled lie. There’s some sort of algorithm at work not to mention the dislike button on comments just doesn’t work. I wouldn’t put too much thought behind it, if anything I’d say discussing it on Reddit/Twitter is a better way to get heard.

I read when When Women were Dragons! It was excellent! I read a couple other books too but this one really stood out to me. It was a coming of age story that was a metaphor for basic feminist theory.
