I can tell when someone hasn’t used a DEF pump for diesel vehicles. The hose not retracting on DEF pumps happen pretty often. They also try to retract while pumping making filling DEF a 2 hands required operation.

I hope that whoever designed DEF pumps will step barefoot on a lego block daily.

The level 2 charge point chargers that are retractable I’ve seen twisted and turned into knots. Sometimes the retractor on those are broken and the car parked in the neighboring stall parked on top of the cable I wanted to use.

As EV adoption increases, the amount of asshole and indifferent behavior is also increasing. Any design with moving parts will need to take that into account

It’s put into a semi truck trailer where other, many times heavier packages are most certainly placed on top of it. Those packages along with the beating it’ll take from the road that desperately need to never be paved with concrete as it goes cross country, it will take some dings. The only way to be sure it’s to make sure your package has adequate packing material.

Otherwise your cardboard box will turn into a cardboard sack.

I used to, until they started changing links for actual results to have trackers built in. I couldn’t click on specific websites i was searching for without my adblock putting a stop to it. Asked them about it in their discord and they basically told me to turn off adblock. Dropped them like a sack of potatoes and spun up a SearXNG instance. Before that I thought about spinning up a presearch node. Glad I switched to SearXNG. It basically accomplished what I wanted from Presearch without the ads and crypto shitcoin.

If I had to switch to a new engine not run by me, I’d consider Qwant or maybe Kagi if paying for it is worth it. I’m old enough to be used to having stuff for free on the internet, doing it yourself to keep from having to pay for a service is a perfectly fine option for me.

Yeah, I would-be been fine if they just added a listing that was actually an ad, but replacing actual results with no option to not click the tracking injected link was enough for me. I always viewed the think pad line as more of a business line of products. I know it isn’t owned by IBM anymore, but considering how much involvement they had with Redhat, you might have better luck trying a fedora based distro. I’m running fedora Fedora 40 beta plasma and it was basically install and start working.

Not to take up for his point, but windows 10 was in development years before Nadella. The only version of windows totally under his governance has been the disastrous windows 11. So I guess I have him to thank for finally giving me the kick in the pants to fully switch to Linux.

I guess the point I need to make is that Microsoft was not good before or during Nadella. There have been bright spots, but not enough for me to have then outweigh all the other crap pulled both during and before Nadella.

I mean they are doing missions to the ISS for the US and private corpos and just recently the bandwagon mission where they flew 9 satellites which they advertise a price for at $300,000 per. The axiom missions are $55,000,000 per seat. That’s not unreasonable for launches considering Artemis is $4,200,000,000 per launch ($1,050,000,000 per seat)

I guess it’s just 19 times cheaper.

That’s the best. I went to a sporting event last year and parked a couple blocks from the arena. The cost to charge and park was less than parking at the closest parking garage.

Truck drivers have to take breaks every 4.5 hours for 45 minutes.

Is this a specific state requirement? I ask because that’s not what the FMCSA says. It’s 30 minute break every 8 hours (USA) and it can be any activity including including work (except driving) that would satisfy the requirement. Source, am a truck driver and …dot.gov/…/summary-hours-service-regulations see 30-minute driving break section.

All of our driving has to be completed in 14 hours (11 hours driving total). When I drove over the road (not home every night) I usually tried to aim for a leg stretch every 4 hours. I’d usually walk around the rig and check things out for leg stretchers. For the 30 min break I would find a rest area or a truck stop and have a proper meal and I usually took longer than 30 for that break unless the place was boring. When i would take breaks were usually determined by location along the route.

I think most of the regulations for truckers here in the US were made in mind with how long the distance is between everything.

As far as driving my EV goes, ideally I would like to get 3-4 driving hours in before recharges, but only when the drive is longer than 6 hours total. I’d rather just get there sooner. I currently drive a Bolt EUV and it’s an hour charging for every 2-3 driving. Longer road trips take some planning especially when driving across middle America where the charging network isn’t that great yet. Meals are easy, but in between meals planning an hour long stop can be challenging.
