Berlusconi had a similar political appeal. After he exited politics, his party went to the biggest in Italy to insignificant.

It will be really difficult for someone to pick up the Republican Party and run with the same platform as DJT. Many have tried it (e.g. de santis) but none is able to have the same success.

I assume that 80% of the users are on one or two instances. Maybe the operators of those instances could sell it to a big publishing company, like Condé Nast or something. That way it will be easier to vertically integrate advertisement between traditional print media, online publications, and less formal online gathering places. It’s a win win at the end. The original operators get their bag, and the community keeps going while being supported by a successful business.

OH MY GISH !!! parent comes from the Latin for to produce??? Like produce that can be shipped in ships, therefore when you are Berne’s you become produce that can be shipped on a ship, turning you in a product of the US government corp (unincorporated), which means that when you are driving you are actually being shipped as freight in your car, which means that only maritime law applies and that the cop that is stopping you doesn’t have jurisdiction because you are actually a shipped good and he isn’t the coast guard or a customs officer.

That also means that you can’t physically be charged for stuff because the shipping company (i.e. the US government) is actually responsible for all the costs incurred during shipping (i.e. you driving) under the imperial maritime charter or 1753 and the amended treaty of Orville of 1772.

That makes sense now. Thank you!!!

Boomers won’t part with their homes, and that’s a problem for young families (www.cnn.com)

Buying a family-sized home with three or more bedrooms used to be manageable for young people with children. But with home prices climbing faster than wages, mortgage rates still close to 23-year highs and a shortage of homes nationwide, many Millennials with kids can’t afford it. And Gen Z adults with kids? Even harder....

The TL;DR is that in 1924 Giacomo Matteotti, a member of the house of representative who was outspoken against Mussolini, was killed and no charges were brought forward. That even is what transition Italy from a semi-working democracy to a one-party dictatorship.

How much money would they want to skim to distribute the music? 33-66 split doesn’t sound so bad considered that they don’t produce the music, sign artist, promote them, etc

They can always start their own label if they believe that vertical integration will be more profitable for them.

They tried that with podcasts and it didn’t go as planned

They decided to pay wholesale prices for electricity sold back to the grid instead of residential prices. That means that any excess power sold goes from around 33 cents to 6 cents, meaning that most people won’t see a change in their bills after installing solar because most households use power at night when there is no sun. This leads to people just not installing solar panels anymore.

Copper piping costs about double the cost of cove piping.

If you want to repair copper, you need to use a torc and solder. That’s not usually possible if the repairs are in difficult to reach places.

Cpvc usually requires only a crimp coupling.

What if the Gaza Strip declared independence?

The Gaza Strip seems very poorly served by the Palestinian Authority, let alone Israel. But, the area has relatively stable borders and it would likely have a stable government in Hamas. So, what if Gaza just declared independence as the government with sole control over the Gaza Strip?...

pacology ,
@pacology@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not an expert in middle eastern politics.

My uninformed take is that if the Gaza Strip was to self organize as a state, they will implicitly recognize Israel as a state as they will have to decide on borders.

Being unrecognized allows the Palestinian authority to claim all the former Palestinian land as their own.

It’s because of the greedy USPS unions. You are paying for their inflated salaries (which just stuff the pockets of their union leaders), theirs golden pensions, and Cadillac health cares. If we could just privatize it, the market will push the prices down because of competition.

My advice would be to have the server running on the cluster serving the static folder mounted through a network drive in the container. Then you just need to sync the content to the drive as the last step in your CI.

Alternatively, you will need to bake the static content in the container but then you will have to host it somewhere for the closer to get.

pacology ,
@pacology@lemmy.world avatar

I imagine you are using k8s because you want to learn the platform.

In a real cluster with multiple machines, you don’t know which machine will run your container (that’s the point of clusters).

Do you need to host your files on a storage server and link these files to the containers through nfs.

See this post for an example on his to do it.

pacology ,
@pacology@lemmy.world avatar

If you enable Tailscale DNS, you can even mount the share using the host subdomain instead of using the ip address.

pacology ,
@pacology@lemmy.world avatar

You need to get a subdomain. It should be two words separated by a hyphen. Then you use that as the address.

If your address is glossy-mouse, the address will be glossy-mouse.mytailnet.ts.net.

I’m originally from a small town outside of Naples, Italy and I had just arrived in New York City last year. I was hoping to find work as a cook or chef since I had trained in some of the best kitchens back home. The day after I arrived, I received a mysterious letter stamped with a seal that looked like a cross on my apartment door. It summoned me to appear at a restaurant downtown called “Tony’s” at 7pm sharp.

That evening, I put on my best suit and headed to the address. The restaurant was in a dingy part of the city I didn’t recognize. I walked inside the dark interior and was greeted by a hostess who led me silently to a back room. There I found two men dressed in fine Italian suits sitting at a table covered in plates of pasta, pizza, antipasto, and glasses of wine. However, they didn’t offer me anything to eat or drink.

The men began to ask me strange questions in Italian. First, the older one in the pinstriped suit asked if I had any boating experience and could operate a motorboat at night. When I said no, the younger one in the track suit asked my views on wearing “concrete galoshes” and whether I knew how to swim in them. They also asked when my favorite holiday was and seemed very interested when I answered Valentine’s Day.

I was utterly confused by their line of questioning and asked them to explain what this meeting was about. The older man slammed his fist on the table and told me I clearly was not a good fit for the “Columbus Club.” Before I could respond, they ushered me out of the restaurant. I still have no idea what they wanted from me or what that mysterious club was. But I decided it was best not to pursue it any further.

I would suggest using Tailscale. It’s an app that runs on your local and remote computers. You log in with your google account, get a special up address that starts with 100.x.x.x. Then you use the special IP address to connect through ssh or mount a volume through samba.

The biggest effects will come from reducing your carbon footprint. Think about what activities generate the most CO2 and what you can cut. For example, meat production is a big CO2 producer. Reducing/eliminating red meet from your diet will reduce your carbon footprint.

Obviously, driving is another CO2 producer. If you can bike or walk as much as you can.

Home cooking/heating is another big source of carbon emissions. You can wear sweatshirts/blankets in the winter and keep your house cold (64-68 F?) and use fans in the summer instead of AC.

Reusing/recycle also comes up as a possible way to reduce CO2 emissions, but I’m not familiar with the net effect on your CO2 of recycling. Reusing makes sense though.

pacology ,
@pacology@lemmy.world avatar

In real general terms, communism is about people/state’s ownership of the means of production. Under this system, most private property is nationalized.

Socialism allows for private property and sees the role of the state to redistribute power and wealth among its citizens through some sort of state program.

You can do all of the through GitHub and GitHub actions by picking a static website generator.

pacology ,
@pacology@lemmy.world avatar

Fair enough. If you want to self host, you can go with forgjo as your web ui and forgjo CI/woodpecker CI for building and deploying the site.

I don’t know of any other self-hostable way to build and push a static site. There was forestry but they discontinued it for a paid service.

This isn’t completely true. The right of assembly is a constitutional right in Italy within small limits (the assembly must be peaceful, without firearms, and requires a notice to local authorities if it uses a public space, see art. 17.

Now, I don’t believe that a rave party falls within those protections as it isn’t protected speech (and I don’t believe there is a place where it is).

Italy will continue to have protests and marched, usually with music because Italy.
