Calibre already does this but cool we have options.

It’s a raspberry pi pico. Ebooks could probably work with it on the new version.

What is a small .EPUB reader that is easy to install for my small Puppy remaster?

My question is basically the title. I’m making my own Puppy Linux remaster and it already has a .PDF reader for it that is very small. I think it’s called Evince? It has a native GTK UI and starts in a second, uses very little RAM and CPU. Now I need a .EPUB reader. I’ve seen a couple different .EPUB reader apps out there...

mesamunefire ,

There’s a couple of command lines e-reader apps you may want to try.

Reddit wont let us talk about the game, but lemmy will. So here is an archived link to the excellent port.

It works really well on the steamdeck too. Its really great.

mesamunefire OP ,

From what i understand yes. username is the same and files are the same.

mesamunefire OP ,

If an admin asks me to take it down, I dont mind taking it down. I dont want lemmy to get in trouble. However I do believe in this instance that no such requests have come in at this time.

mesamunefire OP ,

Thats my understanding of what happened here. The code is even included in this port. So everything was written from the ground up. I haven’t had a chance to actually compile it yet, but it looks solid.

mesamunefire OP ,

I love the idea of charging and easy to replace batteries.

mesamunefire OP , (edited )

Repairability. A battery should be able to be replaced.

Having options is good for the consumer.

mesamunefire OP , (edited )

Cars need to repairable. Plus lithium fails quite a bit.

If a car can work 10+ years thats a good thing. And most lithium based batteries will not last that long.

mesamunefire OP ,

It will be nice to have the options for EVs.

mesamunefire OP ,

Yep! Thats about what I think. I will not buy a car that are like most modern day cell phones. If the battery dies, I want to be able to replace it. Even better if there is a easy charging station like the above and giving the consumer more options.

mesamunefire OP ,

Making cars repairable and making the parts swappable will extend other cars lives, especially if they standardize around certain parts like batteries.

mesamunefire ,

Excellent, making it was easy to swap w battery is the way to go. I was getting hate in the ev community stating that making batteries replaceable and swappable was not a real problem.

mesamunefire ,

Im jealous.

mesamunefire ,

It’s so easy to run on Linux now. Lol what are you doing?

mesamunefire ,

There are tape drives that are certified to last for a very long time and are as easy as USB plug ins. Looks like a brick and is as heavy as one. Very low speed but you can pack a lot of data for a very long time in one.

mesamunefire ,

Tape drive to USB are a great solution.

mesamunefire ,

Yes

Anyone else using Mac minis as VM hosts for self hosting? My Friendica server is a Linux VM on a Mac Mini in my living room. The VM is bound to a VLAN tagged network interface so it’s completely firewalled off from the rest of my network. Also got a second Linux VM on the same box for hosting local stuff on my main VLAN (HomeBridge/etc).

I feel like they’re really nice platforms for this, if not the cheapest. Cheaper than one might think though; I specced up an equivalent NUC and there wasn’t a lot of difference in price, and the M2 is really fast.

mesamunefire ,

I happened to have one. It’s a decent little machine. They don’t seem to die.

However for hosting, I wouldn’t use them. Spec wise they kinda suck.

mesamunefire ,

No joke, most of my games work better on Linux because of proton than my Windows box. Such a nice experience.

mesamunefire , (edited )

The battery is the biggest issue for me. I will not replace my entire car because they won’t let us replace the battery.

The cars need to be repairable.

mesamunefire ,

I disagree. The amount of articles regarding the subject is substantial. And the battery is lithium, so the battery will degrade. Repairability is a buying point for me.

mesamunefire ,

The tech and algorithm has been around for a while. The thing that makes generative ai so powerful is all our data that got pulled to create the product.

mesamunefire ,

Not necessarily, Calibre makes this easy

YouTube Says New 5-Second Video Load Delay Is Supposed to Punish Ad Blockers, Not Firefox Users (www.404media.co)

Firefox users are reporting an 'artificial' load time on YouTube videos. YouTube says it's part of a plan to make people who use adblockers "experience suboptimal viewing, regardless of the browser they are using."

mesamunefire ,

Peertube is almost there. Just needs a good server really, most of the servers are too small for the market share. Or at least fit the general public, I’m loving it ATM.

mesamunefire ,

Also I get more up votes and less down votes over hear. Less people trying to game the system, since there is no real reason to.

mesamunefire ,

I can’t read it, it keeps wanting me to login.

mesamunefire ,

Yep you can put Manjaro onto a laptop and get just about the same experience.

mesamunefire ,

It’s why it’s so important to own your stuff and not give money to subscriptions you don’t have to.

I accidentally formatted a drive with a Bitcoin wallet on it. Back a number of years ago. Fun times.

Thats the neat trick, never assume anonymity. Def in a case like this one. I treat people with respect even here.

But I guess if I had to share, im still really pissed that our 401ks are still locked and I cant access it from John Handcock. Plus some people got 2 paychecks taken instead of just the last one. We had to cancel our old bank account because bitwise post Jake/Irma tried to come after past checks from multiple people. If my bank didnt protect me, direct deposit apparently will happily allow them to take past checks back. And BW did not talk to us this entire time after we were furloughed. After 3 weeks of being furloughed, we were still technically employed and had ex-bitwisers try to tell us not to talk to the media, to trust the system. I am still angry about how it all went down.

mesamunefire ,

Yep.

mesamunefire ,

You already probably found a solution, but I’ve found docker + the software a good solution.

mesamunefire ,

I love how hackable and repairable the steam deck is.
