They believe in traditional values - racism, patriarchy and religion. Can’t have a patriarchy if women get to choose whether or not they have a family. Also, they want to punish the women for having sex.

My bet is on dysfunctional family - maybe child sa, maybe mental illness or other trauma/combination of traumas. Our society is unstable (Ie: pandemic) and they feel out of control, maybe abandoned, and this is the only way they feel powerful.

I dislike California because their life revolves around freeways and traffic. I also dislike the aggressive homeless population. I’m in nyc and everyone takes the train/ no need to be in traffic, and while there is homelessness they don’t bother you/follow you.

I learned how to manage my finances back when r/personalfinance was small and years later I used the money that I saved to take time off to work on my mental health. I will forever be grateful to Reddit for that. It literally changed my life.

i use excel. the win is having multiple credit cards that you use for specific categories. this makes keeping a budget super easy - i look at my checking account and know what category hits which credit card.

men I knew who grew up going to church feel displaced by their traditional view being eroded by things like LGBT, gender identity questions, and changing of the times in general. While the women I know who even often date these men the opposite; they feel more comfortable being accepting of everyone by default.

this makes sense - these men were at the top of the food chain and hearing about equality and seeing change threatens their identity because who are they if they’re not at the top? the women on the other hand know what it’s like to be marginalized and so are more empathetic and open about other marginalized groups.

i expect the vast majority of those men will not give up/question their identity. they will kick and scream as the world continues to change. tbh, i’m glad i’m not in their shoes. they feel a total loss of control, and there’s not a damn thing they can do. emotionally it’s a really difficult place to be in.

There’s nothing wrong with doing what you’re doing. You’re a human being (not a human doing) who gets to choose how to spend your time. It is your life. You’re not a machine who’s purpose is to be productive, it’s an unhealthy mindset. No one is happy being a machine.

I think the desire for massive crowds is just a reflection

of capitalism. outsiders don’t consider you successful unless you have x amount of users or make x in revenue or are top 3 in your category. and even when you match the desired characteristics, it’s still not enough. what about this quarter? profits over everything. the solution isn’t to bend for other people, but to create something that’s authentic to you and be satisfied with what you have.
